It's one of their worst.
A lot of the songs sound the same, too many violins and stuff. A few songs spare it from being terrible. |
I liked it....

'Prevent This Tragedy' is easily one of my favourites on the cd, it's very hard to use orchestral stringed instruments in music other than classical, and they pulled it off superbly. |
So, Mike Park is supporting the Trio on their UK tour apparently.
He is a solo acoustic artist, and the owner of Asian Man records, which the trio have released records for. I am seeing if he has a purevolume now, his Myspace has no music on it. |

He is the support artist. |

Edit: I don't like the stuff on purevolume, i hope he's not supporting them, why not a decent band off Vagrant like Get-up kids? Or have they split now :( Edit2: Chumpradio, what was the source? |
Punktastic.
It's under a headline about Mike Park cancelling his UK tour, and he will now be supporting the trio in November. And I doubt punktastic would report a rumour. |
I have all of Alkaline Trio's albums aside from Goddamnit, but I'm having a bit of trouble getting into them. Can you guys give me some of your favorite Alk3 tracks that might help me get into them? I'm basically looking for someone to give me a few catchy/powerful songs that will help me get hooked on this band. Thanks a lot.

San Fransisco.
San Fransisco.
I think you may have misread my post. I have all of their albums except Goddamnit. So basically, I need catchy songs from Alk3's other albums to help me get into them. |
does anyone know if the gig on the 18th August, at the Astoria has any supporting acts or is it just Alkaline Trio

Not quite as ordered as chump... Hell Yes, I lied My Face Off, Madam Me, Radio, Private Eye, Mr. Chainsaw, Armageddon, All on Black, Every Thug Needs a Lady, Dead End Road, Mercy Me, Back to Hell, Tim to Waste. Theres afew. |
Maybe I'll catch fire:
Radio Good Mourning: Fatally Yours Every Thug Needs A Lady All On Black One Hundred Stories We've Had Enough Crimson: Time To Waste Mercy Me Sadie Dethbed Fall Victim From here to infirmary: Stupid Kid Trucks & Trains Armagedddon Private Eye Hell Yes In my opinion, those are pretty catchy tracks with very recognisable choruses. If you want a poppish-punk album FHTI is your safest bet as that in my opinion is their most radio friendly with catchy hooks and melodies. Good Mourning is another good one although with a slightly darker feel to it. |

of course there'll be support, have you ever been to a concert before? |
of course there'll be support, have you ever been to a concert before?
yeah i was just asking cuz i haven't heard of any supporting acts, but think about it a whole night filled with just Alkaline Trio....would be very tiring for them |
(Suggestions)
Thanks for the suggestions guys. I'll make sure to check those songs out. |
I don't know why people like Mr. Chainsaw that much, I don't like it as much as the others. But then again, I suppose it's because it's sandwiched inbetween two of my favourite Trio songs, and I'm impatient when I'm listening to it.
Also, listen to I'm Dying Tomorrow, I absolutely LOVE that song, but I do get funny looks when I sing it out loud. lol |
EmoScreamoPunk - BUY GODAMMIT
EDIT: ****ing hell, I hate these bloody swear filters |
Have you seen Live at the Metro? He puts down one of his sticks to take a drink of water halfway through playing, then carrys on with the other hand, before picking up his stick and carrying on!
I'm no drummer, but Im pretty sure THATS impressive.
watching derek play live is more interesting than watching the dvd, but the dvd does kick *** cause he does some cool stuff with his sticks like u've mentioned...i saw this video that i downloaded on limewire and its alk3 playing radio (not warped tour dvd version) and derek broke his snare drum head so he was jammin on hi hats and kick drum and dan was playin and matt stopped to talk to the crowd and told em derek broke his drum, so he puts his left hand drumstick in his mouth, picks up his snare drum and shows the crowd the hole in the head, then he picked up the one on the ground and its shiny and matt comments that its shinier anyway and derek shows off the shell then puts its down on his stand the whole time jammin on hats and kick with his stick in his mouth like biting a rose or whatever and when he's ready they pick back up THAT is more amazing than the playing w/ one hand technique...because im so bad about throwing sticks i had to learn that so i could keep going until i could find another stick to play with if u wanna see the video go on limewire and look for i think its called the basement where they played but it will say "radio (space jam version)" because when dan and derek are jammin matt goes "this is the space jam yall" |

I've sort of gone off Private Eye and Stupid Kid because I have heard them so much, and those are the only songs a lot of people know, even though the rest are better, so if anyone ever has Alk3 on their mp3 player it tends to be those songs, or Armageddon, but Armageddon is just a truely amazing song.
Crawl is so amazing. Yesterday I was in a "romantic sounding songs by Dan Andriano" mood. A bit of You've Got So Far To Go, She Took Him To The Lake, Enjoy Your Day, Message From Kathlene, Crawl, Another Innocent Girl, Take Lots With Alcohol (Not quite so romantic sounding, but you can't expect me to miss it out. Amazing song), One Hundred Stories, Emma, Every Thug Needs A Lady, If We Never Go Inside, Settle For Satin, I Am A Prayer and Smoke. I know not all the songs are very Romantic, but the way Dan sings makes most of his songs sound happy and romantic. |
He sings so beautifully...
|
I love how his voice has a slight lisp, and it's so soft.
Smoke is an amazing example of this. I also love Smokes chorus "I wish I don't wish I still smoked". But Dan can also have more of an aggressive voice like in I Lied My Face Off, and it still sounds great. |

Is it just me or were Dan's songs on Crimson not so good (they're ok but they don't compare to his other stuff...it just lacked that usual Dan quality, in my opinion) The Poison anyone? |
I dunno, his duel vocals with Matt on Crimson really work well.
|
Dan's vocals on Mercy Me was great, Back To Hell was great, and so was Smoke.
But I Am A Prayer, The Poison and Settle For Satin, although still great songs, don't have the same impact as Dan's normal songs. |
I dunno, his duel vocals with Matt on Crimson really work well.
I meant the songs were he's the lead. Edit: Maybe I just need them to grow on me a bit. I was a prayer wasn't bad, I just prefer his older stuff at the moment. The Poison I really dislike. |
i like when derek sings...as rare as it is, if you ever see any videos of the trio full band acoustic you can really hear his voice and its great
glad he didnt make the misfits singer though over graves...graves fits the misfits style way better than derek...but derek is still a kickass singer he should have at least one song of his own on the next full length the trio releases whenever that shall be |
