I recently bought Rhapsody's "Symphony of Enchanted Lands" (part 1) and Sonata Arctica's "Reckoning Night". Great stuff.

Lord Abortion 03-14-2005 07:51 AM

dragonforce and rhapsody have a nice friendly rivalry going on...
Power metal... without a solo :amaze:
Hunting High and Low has a solo. It has an 8 bar guitar melody that repeats it's self, which I'd consider a solo.

A Nu-metalish solo. A screamo solo.

I just discovered the greatness of Dungeon and Galloglass.

I wish I had more money to buy power metal cd's :(
A Nu-metalish solo. A screamo solo.
Nu-Metal solos used to exist, now the bands just use normal solos, but shorten them way too much.

One example of a real nu-metal solo would be at the end of Earache My Eye by Korn.

Anyhow, do Norther have any albums other than Mirror Of Madness, cause I have that one, but I can't find any other material.

coolidgeALL 03-15-2005 03:25 PM

How many Demons and Wizards fans do we have in the house?

shamed-angel 03-15-2005 04:22 PM

Has anyone here heard Skyclad? I heard them in a friends car and thought they were awful. Really generic, boring, monotonous and unoriginal. Are they power metal because I had originally heard they were?

Bartender 03-15-2005 05:49 PM

Could anyone here please yousendit The Bard's Song by Blind Guardian for me? I only have it in video form, and without any programs or knowledge, can't convert that into an audio file. And I really want it as an audio file, for mp3 player purposes and for sharing it with people over the internet.
I'm looking for some aggressive (=non happy) euro power (choirs are very welcome), in the vein of Blind Guardian and of a less happy Avantasia and Freedom Call...
(I'm already familiar with Morgana Lefay and Brainstorm)
Iron Savior perhaps?
or Jag Panzer.

Sorry about the large file sizes. I rip at high quality. :-/

RideTheSpiral 03-16-2005 06:57 AM

Bump for Bartender.

Bartender 03-16-2005 07:01 AM

Ah, thanks :)

RideTheSpiral 03-16-2005 07:03 AM

No problem.
How many Demons and Wizards fans do we have in the house?
hell yes!!!
:thumb:
BTW which live BG album is it ith the elf and the dwarf on the front outside the bard's tavern with the sign saying
"Blind gaurdian live tonite!"
that cover is brilliant and I want the album

Bartender 03-16-2005 07:08 AM
No problem.
It's actually slightly different to the version I'd heard before, which I thought it might be. Good song still though, so thanks.

RideTheSpiral 03-16-2005 07:25 AM

They play a 4 minute live version of the song on the Forgotten Tales album. Maybe you have that version.

I can upload that if you want...

Bartender 03-16-2005 07:27 AM

I don't think it's live. It's a video version, which I have on DVD. It's more or less the same as Part One, just sounds re-recorded (and about 20 seconds longer, and with video, naturally).

Superfly 03-16-2005 08:36 AM
Still a solo.
Meh, its literally a pop song in scandinavia, I was in denmark and they played the video for it a hell of a lot.

whatduffhuck7 03-16-2005 07:41 PM

anybody see the article in guitar world about how power metal is coming back into the picture becuase of bands like arch enemy, children of bodom, and nevermore.

personally i like manowar, arch enemy, and COB.

Hitroshimite 03-16-2005 08:38 PM

I wouldn't consider Arch Enemy, Nevermore or CoB power metal.

Or at least, I wouldn't consider Arch Enemy, Nevermore or CoB good power metal.

Superfly 03-17-2005 07:41 AM

Children of bodom ain't PM.

I've been listening to a lot of Rhapsody lately...strange...

RideTheSpiral 03-17-2005 07:52 AM

CoB is PM.

coolidgeALL 03-17-2005 08:32 AM

I've been listening to Masterplan lately, good stuff.

evil ernie 03-17-2005 09:04 AM

I really don't get why someone would consider Nevermore or Arch Enemy power metal.

Been listening to Edguy's Helfire Club lately, kick@ss.

RCA 03-17-2005 09:17 AM

I really don't like Nevermore's music, and I don't see what all the hype for them is about.

Because they can't think of anything else to call them.
