Sure this has been mentioned, but has anybody got a copy of the Hyperdub: Five Years of Hyperdub box set?
Really digging it right now. |
Yall need to check out DFRNT's latest - Metafiction. Deep as hell, really really chill, one of the best Echodub artists out there.

Yeah heard that new track from him a few days ago. Absolutely quality.
the new hyperdub box set has got the mala track that i've been looking for for ages
the burial track is good, just seems quite standard burial |

I've been diggin dubstep for a while now, especially Caspa, Rusko, Skream, and Bar9. Its just so brutal and powers right through with insane rhythm. Recently I've been noticing a lot of jam bands having side projects that are experimenting with a little dubstep. String Cheese Incident has a side project called Eoto which is fuckin sick, its really experimental based on what dubstep I've heard. The Disco Biscuits also have a side project called M80 dubstation, I haven't listened to him yet but I'm going to see him on December 3rd, I'm def looking forward to it. I saw Lotus last night and they actually had two or three songs where they incorporated some dubstep sounding bass drops and riffs in there, real awesome. I just find it interesting that all these bands are kinda dropping into dubstep and experimenting with it.

ever since i saw bar 9 i've been addicted to his stuff... strung out is so ****ing chilled
broken note is legit, and excursion is as well
Murda Sound is pretty dope too, that **** is so heavy.
dont know if its dubstep but i stumbled upon a group called Morcheeba today. Liking their stuff a lot so far

Murda Sound is some heavy shit. Been listening to a few Mt Eden songs on youtube recently, mainly Sierra Leone. Really catchy stuff. |
in case you guys want more mt eden stuff, heres a link to his album
http://rapidshare.com/files/292344655/MtEden.rar and its not piracy, he uploaded that himself and links it on his sites/profiles |
dont know if its metal but i stumbled upon a group called Coldplay today. Liking their stuff a lot so far

don't know if your post was a joke or not but yeah, morcheeba are pretty much just soft rock posing as trip-hop
naw, im still getting into this style of music, so im sure ill come across some other duds here and there
im likin kryptic minds so far though |
The list wish posted a few pages back is pretty comprehensive. Only other artists I'd add would probably be Borgore, Boxcutter and Stenchman.
Definatley Borgore and Stenchman.
Stenchman is the biggest winner in the world. |
Agreed. Been listening to What The Future Holds ALOT, the pitch shifted Neo quote at the start is classic.
On another note, whenever i hear 'When I Look At You' by Emalkay in a set it makes me prang. Don't know what it is about that song but it just does it for me every time. |
I'm sure most of you have heard Eastern Jam by Chase and Status, I was just wondering if you guys know of any other dubstep songs that have world music samples/influence incorporated into them, especially Indian music. I just love the scales of classical Indian music and I think it sounds dope when an ill bass drop in it, mixes it up to a modern time.
anyone hear swagga by datsik?
been listening to the new hyperdub comp as well. pretty decent.
Can anyone rec me some tracks that have a lot of womp, kinda like the Swagga.
What kinda stuff do you already know so I can rec ?
Um like Bassnectar (going to see em next thursday), abunch of boring ambient stuff, bar 9, 16 bit.
Like I want tracks that REALLY bring the womp. |
Off the top my head 26 basslines by benga brings the womp.
(Obvious I know but I've got a **** load of work and cba playing through all the dubstep I have) |
Ya Womp is Wobble, I'm surprised you haven't heard that "term", as I've seen it used often.
Sorry but most of that ambient **** bores me, like I don't really enjoy Kryptic Minds, although I do like Burial and Flying Lotus. |
Flying Lotus isn't dubstep.
Dub Hop?
it's just instrumental hip-hop
There's a lil bit of dub in it, pretty sure Flying Lotus is featured on the Hyper 5 comp also.
i haven't dived extensively into his work so i could be wrong but from what i've heard it's just hip hop hoppity
I don't quite get why they'd put a instrumental hip hop artist on the Hyperdub 5 comp, pretty sure that settles it, unless I'm missing something.
Nah you're missing something.
I don't believe I am but if you would like to enlighten me go ahead.
