Mogwai is coming to singapore!! can someone tell me what a mogwai concert is like ? and most of the time are the fans seated or standing because ive got seat numbers on my ticket
Whoa, where in Singapore do you live? I used to live there. Great place. Anyway, Mogwai concerts are...well, loud. But you'll be better off sitting in seats, I think.

Nepenthe 06-19-2006 01:07 PM

Sent to both you and Daven.

LF96 06-19-2006 01:22 PM

Could I get the link as well? I'm pretty interested. My email is mcemmer@ hotmail.com

I just recently checked out Set Fire To Flames who are basically an offshoot of Godspeed You! Black Emperor, but with even more musicians (13). The tracks I've heard of them are really great and if you like GY!BE you should really check them out. This site has 3 mp3's by them:

http://www.alien8recordings.com/setfire.php3

Nepenthe 06-19-2006 01:29 PM

Sent.

I'll have to check them out later today, doing work outside right now.

Daven 06-19-2006 03:11 PM

I didnt get the link. :upset: Could you resend it to me, please.

BringHomeTheBacon 06-19-2006 05:34 PM

I'd like to hear them too- stratstrummerdd@yahoo.com

I bought Mogwai- Mr. Beast the other day finally. It's definitely the best 2006 album I've heard. The only song I don't really get is "I Chose Horses". Still, the other 9 songs are all great, "Friend of the Night" is my fave.

ATM 06-19-2006 05:49 PM

Any Mono fans?

TojesDolan 06-20-2006 11:13 PM

For all of you fanatics of Post Rock, I've recently found a band named Austin TV that hail from some point of Latin America. The overall sound of them is pretty tight, and they have some links to songs in their website:

http://www.austintv.org/memoriassonorasE.html

The spanish page has some live tracks, and other stuff:

:)

Nepenthe 06-20-2006 11:38 PM

Just sent the WFT to Daven, Bacon, and Med.

Any feedback from the people who've listened?

Txus 06-21-2006 12:08 AM

I've been a We Followed Tigers fan for a while now, AWEEESOME BAND. I think they're the only Post Rock group that makes me feel happy for some reason :D

Nepenthe 06-21-2006 12:27 AM

I think I accidentally sent you the link for their album Txus haha.

Yeah, they have a very happy, yet still kind of melancholic sound to them.
Any Mono fans?
Of course, I love Mono. Their live show absolutely blew me away. I can't even express it in words.

Txus 06-21-2006 07:18 AM

Mono is great. I've been liking the band "Tè" a lot lately, thanks to neuro who sent me their album I discovered this awesome band that I think everyone should hear.

@Anthony: Yeah, you sent me the album haha...I was like WTF? A new WFT album...have everyone noticed ^^ WTF(What the f) and WTF (We Followed Tigers) is the same thing...

I think I'm just high now...sorry :p

I cant believe I missed them when they came here! They were with Pelican as well, I just didnt have the cash to go.

blueyxd 06-21-2006 09:19 AM

I was recently recommended The Evpatoria Report. I haven't had a proper listen yet, but I'll just pass the name on. http://www.the-evpatoria-report.net/

LF96 06-21-2006 01:33 PM

This We Followed Tigers album is quite good. Just finished my first listen through it and it's definitely interesting. Thanks for sending it out.

I'm probably gonna see Mono live in about a month, it's a free festival and stuff, so I won't have the feel that I was ripped off probably. Animal Collective will be there as well, they are quite cool too.

Kage 06-21-2006 02:14 PM

Yeah, that's the tour I saw them on. It's too bad you couldn't see them, it was such an amazing show.

BringHomeTheBacon 06-21-2006 05:19 PM

Just finished listening to the We Followed Tigers album. I like it a lot, it's like Explosions in the Sky took a lot of caffeine and got a better drummer. I looked them up last.fm and they only had around 200 listeners, that's a shame, I think a lot of people would like them.

Nepenthe 06-21-2006 05:26 PM

Yeah, they are pretty obscure. I'm fairly certain they don't even have a proper record label.

Their drummer is very good.

Txus 06-21-2006 05:30 PM

And Then We Were Killed is their only release?

AA-12 06-21-2006 05:31 PM

I like post rock, but only the really ambient stuff.

Nepenthe 06-21-2006 05:37 PM
And Then We Were Killed is their only release?
As far as I know. It's impossible to find any information about them. Their myspace doesn't really tell you anything.

I just downloaded their new song off Purevolume it's called "I Died in an Eighties Car Crash", it's an awesome song.....they've changed their style a little bit IMO, they're getting WAYY more heavy now.

Moses 06-21-2006 05:43 PM

What have you heard that isn't ambient?

AA-12 06-21-2006 05:44 PM

Nothing, haha.

They have another EP called So Much For Summer. If you want it, AIM me at "funktomus dingo", cuz my copy of And Then We Were Killed is corrupted, so we could do a trade.

Is Jesu considered post-rock and does anyone here like them? I just picked up an EP by them, and it's incredible.

would you guys consider pelican post-rock? i know they weren't really post-rockish on australasia, but on the fire on our throats will beckon the thaw, they do have lots of elements from explosions in the sky and saxon shore . . .

gillygan 06-24-2006 02:51 PM

Would Pelican, Neurosis, and Isis be considered post-rock?

Yes they are, Australasia is a brilliant album maybe even better than the fire.....
Would Pelican, Neurosis, and Isis be considered post-rock?
Yes...Yes and Yes.

Moses 06-24-2006 05:08 PM

I'm considering starting up a post-rock band and drumming for it but I'm not sure. I've got plenty on my hands as of now, I just wanna drum.

Either that or grindcore.
