I heard the guitar player is insane. Are they like Kalmah? In terms of using the same guitar and keyboard tone and the same solos everytime?

Daven 11-29-2005 08:10 PM
It will get old, really really quick mind you.

The only thing after awhile that stands out is the solos, then even then they become boring as they always seem to be played in the same key and scale...

NP - Amon Amarth - The Dragons Flight Across The Waters
The album hasnt become boring to me yet. ALthough the solos really are played in the same scale.

Ace_of_Bass2112 11-29-2005 08:10 PM

speaking of viking metal. anyone ever heard of valkyr or am i just imaging the power metal goodness in my mind.

NP- Laquer Head/anitpop.

Not even close.

Muhammed skill wise wipes the floor with the majority of guitar players. And they don't have a keyboards in Necrophagist.

'Tender : what albums have you heard from them so far?

RouteOne 11-29-2005 08:12 PM
^True. But they are really nice solos.

I need some Amon Amarth albums. They're always overpriced around here.
Get their earlier albums first. They are the best IMO.

The opening to Metalwrath off of "the Avenger" will melt your face off.

What is an ICQ?

Bartender 11-29-2005 08:14 PM

Thanks for the link, I'll give it a listen tomorrow.

EDIT: ICQ is a communication service (I-see-kyou). If someone asks for your ICQ number they mean your contact information for ICQ..it's like an email address is for MSN, or a screen name for AIM. ICQ uses numbers.

'Tender : what albums have you heard from them so far?
No full albums. Just songs. But they're melodic, and epic, and the band very cool outside the music. So I want to get to know them.

EDIT: Actually, I tried to order an album of theirs from Supernal a year or so ago, but he was out of stock. And now he doesn't sell Amon Amarth albums any more.

Get the album Versus The World if you can, it's their best imo.

As for their older albums, I disagree about them being better. They are good and all, but they are far less epic sounding, and them being epic in sound has seperated them selfs into their own sound.

MRDuCran 11-29-2005 08:18 PM

If anyone's interested, you can download the Epitaph album of their forums I think, I got it the other day but I'm not positive it got it from there.

Kingofdudes 11-29-2005 09:14 PM

I always miss the first page :(

I think I might put my CD order off till tomorrow, im too tired from work.

Erm...Yeah, I suppose you could say that. :-/

NP: Symphony X- Wicked

SO HOW WAS THAT SONG I SENT YOU DUDE, KINDA ROCKING?!?!?!?!

On a more serious subject, I realized I don't want to be an architect for life, because bloody Constructive Design Blueprints are killing me because I misplaced ONE milimeter, and the whole right part of the Drawing went to hell. :(

You're in Bronxville now, right?

How's it over there?

Dr. Jake Destructo 11-29-2005 10:42 PM

I spent 3 hours DLing the behemoth(yes, 26 mbs is a behemoth by dial up standards) and it crapped out at 83%. I'm gonna try again tomorrow, when I'll have time to download it twice if it fails. :p

Kurtz 11-29-2005 10:46 PM

They're really that good?

It seemed like they were the only band mentioned on a regular basis in the old thread.

King_Of_Terrors 11-29-2005 10:46 PM

Ah, thanks Bartender. Uh...I'm gonna go to bed now. Stupid school...

Which band are you referring to?

Illmatic 11-29-2005 10:51 PM

So I should probably take the post count title in this thread just like I did in the last one.

.....

nahhhh.

So I got off from a pretty long shift at work and do as much schoolwork as I possibly can...and then I find out that My Name Is Earl and The Office aren't on this week  instead it was some dumb show about fat people losing weight. Yes, NBC thought that a reality show about fat people losing weight made good TV. And they wonder why they are in last place among the major networks.

Behemoth.

lol you silly, he said Behemoth as in Amazingly large.

It's a Tool song, feat. Robert Fripp Playing disposition+reflection. :)

Dr. Jake Destructo 11-29-2005 10:57 PM

I meant behemoth in reference to the size of the file, yeah. And like Tojes said, the behemoth was a live Tool song, which I need badly. :)

Illmatic 11-29-2005 10:59 PM
Ray: even behind Fox?
I meant in the ratings war. Just in terms of quality, ABC is easily last place.

It's funny when you see a word and immediately associate it with a band though. For instance, Nirvana.

Yeah, other stuff I think of the band when I hear the word is like Sublime, Thrice...

Bands should choose more obscure names :(

Raining all day, really heavily. I tell you, there are few things in this world that make me more tired than getting soaked to the skin with rain. It makes me just want to crawl into my dry bed and sleep the rest of the day away.

I really don't think school should happen on days where it pours rain.

I've no idea. But it didn't sound very special anyway, I thought. Maybe it was just the quality.
