for any fans of early punk or proto punk, i reccomend Rocket From the Tomb. They are the band that first did Sonic Reducer, and from their demise was sprouted the Dead Boys and Pere Ubu, the latter of which I also reccomend, although they are quite a weird band.
for horror punk or misfits fans, check out Calabrese, they are a really good horror punk band of brothers.
for prog-metal fans i suggest Fate's Warning and Spiral Architect.
Reccomend me some, hmm...Ska perhaps?

I've been getting into lots of Ska/Punk lately. Bands like The Flatliners, Against All Authority, The Rudiments, and other bands that I didn't used to like as much. Give it a go.
I don't know exactly what you listen to, so I'll just spout out a few:

Howards Alias (think UK Rx Bandits), The Impossibles (get Anthology), The Stray Bullets (close to the Flatliners/AAA), Jaya the Cat (like a slightly slower Flatliners/AAA) and The Arrogant Sons of Bitches.

If you listen to all of them then I'll suggest some others.

AndreTheHyena 10-26-2005 08:52 PM

Juan, you son of a bitch, did you ever check out Local H?

Dom, you son of a bitch, did you ever check out Man Man?

Yes I did. The mp3 on that site was nuts, I really like it. I haven't been able to find anything on soulseek by them, I may have to actually buy a cd.

AndreTheHyena 10-26-2005 09:02 PM

Hurrah.

In that case, I'm going to suggest the Ex-Models to you. They're like Devo plus Melt-Banana. Check out the album Zoo Psychology, or the songs "Sex Automata", "Zoo Love", and "Hey Boner".

GRIFF: Losing Face, they're a local band from Aucks sort of melodic hardcore and sound really similar to AWS, fucking awesome.

Somebody recommend me something.

Excursions 10-27-2005 01:04 AM

Sam: Under One Banner. They are like melodic posi lol funny hardcore. Good stuff. Also try No Ok or Not Quite Right.

Iron Bug 10-27-2005 02:04 PM

Someone reccomend me something that sounds like Rumbleseat, if anyone has something like that on Soulseek letting me download it would be awesome.
Someone do me
Try some...Buck 65? Canadian folk-rapper, though "folk" in the Johnny Cash/Dust Bowl Ballad type of mindset, not like Nick Drake or anything.

Anything off of Talkin' Honky Blues is pretty great, especially "Roses and Bluejays", "Wicked and Weird", and "Exes". I dunno, you may not like his voice, it takes some getting used to.

Oh, ****, and definitely check out Bonnie 'Prince' Billie's I See a Darkness. It'll change your life.

And did you catch what I said about My Morning Jacket previously?

Brain Toad 10-28-2005 12:23 AM

Sam (Anti-Prefix), I recommend Oi Polloi to you if you have no listened to them.

Kithkin 10-28-2005 01:32 AM

Well, if you hadn't heard of the Arrogant Sons of Bitches, then Bomb the Music Industry. That's the singers solo side project and some of the songs are simply amazing.

They used to have every song free on their website but ran out of bandwidth. The myspace.com/bombthemusicindustry has some of the newer songs.

Actually, turns out they have them back on the website. Awsome. http://www.bombthemusicindustry.com/#

Ummm....

Sonic Boom Six are a UK ska/hop band that has lyrical content similar to the Stray Bullets. It isn't the same music, but you'll probably like SB6.

Also, the suicide machines. I assume you listen to them, but if not, have a go. Cause they really are quite good.

albert_bass 10-28-2005 02:52 AM

Bomb the music industry are so great...

To whom may care, I recommend:

If you like pop-punk, for the 100th time check out Bigwig and Bad Astronaut.

If you like ska check out Ska-p

If you like punk, melodic hardcore check out Satanic Surfers

If you like celtic punk check out Celtas Cortos and their album Gente Impresentable.

Subvert_bassist 10-29-2005 10:04 AM
If you like punk, melodic hardcore check out Satanic Surfers
They are definately not melodic hardcore; they're lucky if they're considered just plain hardcore.

albert_bass 10-29-2005 12:31 PM

Yes, they are pop-punk and melodic hardcore.

There's no way they could be plain hardcore.

RCVA 10-29-2005 01:07 PM

He's right.
