Click 5- they are so **** catchy Kanye West- im black and i love him, but i hate most rap Should i be embarresed for liking Trapt a little bit?
Judging from your name and the other posts you've made, I'd say you have the worst taste of any black person. Or at least the most baffling. |
Taking Back Sunday is my least favorite band in the world*, good job

Hey now I actually like REM but I needed to justify the fact that I own a Taking Back Sunday album somehow. but hey I laughed. |
Most of my friends have been making fun of me for the past few days for listening to against me!. The rest of my friends went to the against me! concert a week or so ago.

Yeah I had a friend who gave me the :-/ look when I told him that Tool was a good band, but I knew if he gave Undertow a try he would probably like it because that's more his thing than he knew. But you can't push Tool on anyone or you'll be a fanboy, and we already had one of those at our school who repelled a lot of people from ever trying to listen to them. So he found Undertow on his own and now they are on good terms :) |
The thing about my friends making fun of me for listening to against me! is that they also know that I listen to a lot of other good music. Infact, one of my friends decided one day that she wanted to get into good music with the help of me. So I've given her 20 or so CD's over the past month and she's loved every single one of them. I rock at recomending music.
But everyone has those bands that just don't seem to fit in with the rest of the good music. By the way, there's nothing wrong with Tool. For awhile I liked them, and still listen to them sometimes. |

Bass players who learn the riffs to "Schism," "46 and 2," and "Disposition" are happy bass players :) |
Everclear. I really like them quite a lot. I first saw them 10 years ago at a record store performance and they just blew me away. I like literally like everything they have done. They veered into pop and I think that made some think they were a lightweight band. And then Art Alexakis (singer/songwriter/guitarist/producer) had a solo album he was going to make of pop songs, but made it an Everclear album instead. That didn't help things, and I'm not sure if their image ever fully recovered. And their last album with the original line up was hit and miss. But the songwriting was always really good, and Art tackled some heavy themes without letting it get weighed down. Good live band, too. But because they had a number of songs about families, f-up's, Art's childhood, relationships, and fatherhood, they somehow got a bit of a reputation as a kiddie band, of sorts. I went to a gig in Orange County and literally hundreds of 11 and 12 year olds showed up. Mostly girls because Art wrote some songs for and about his daughter. And he would have them come onstage and dance, and it was just good fun for them. Then I saw Art solo in Hollywood with just him and his guitar and figured it would be all serious music people showing up to hear the songwriter. Nope. Dozens and dozens of 11 and 12 year old girls turned up as well. And this guy is a near 40 year old who sings about the hard life to quite an extent. Some father figure.
But anyway, yeah. Everclear. A good band with a slushy rep. But I love them still. |
i like everclear, i must have listened to wonderful 300 times by now (not exaggerating)

ah... so true... those are the only 2 riffs(excluding disp.) that i play almost every time i pick up a bass |
is it bad that everyonce and a while i listen to some R. Kelly?
|
they're not emo at all, they're just pop-punk.
i dont really like them but i can tell they're not the worst offenders. they have a song with a guitar solo in it!
They're not pop-punk at all, they're just bad. I'm not ashamed about liking any band, I can say it openly. Well, yes they have pop-punk influences but really...no. |
I'm not embarrased of any of the music I like.
|
Two great bands.
Unless you mean the last two Weezer albums.
I like both them both but everyone i talk to says they are chick bands. |
Trust me, its baffaling. I hate most new school rap becuase all they do is talk about money. Old school rap had depth and a meaning. I love Pop-punk because its fun and i respect all punk. I Love Alternative becuase that how i grew up, I grew up listening to R.E.M, U2, Peter Murphy, and Nine Inch Nails ( i dont care what you say, i call them alternative). And so its not like im completly changing topic i have a few more bands i am emmbarrsed to like
Nsync Hellogoodbye Switchfoot Coldplay and my favorite guilty pleasure....Jason Maraz but..... Gavin Degraw>>>>>>Jason Maraz |
switchfoot is pretty good, IMO
|
switchfoot is pretty good, IMO
They have there moments. Other than maybe like 5 of thier songs, they sound so over produced and generic corrporate rock. Which is ok if thats what you want to do, not if thats what your getting paid to do but you want to do something else. |
I like Switchfoot.
|
switchfoot is pretty good, IMO
IMO NO |
Switchfoot is awful. In their first single "Meant To Live," the opening guitar riff is so fucking WHINY that I can't stand it. And the new single "Stars" is a ripoff of the HUM song of the same name.
|
yea but thats why they are "bands we're embarassed for liking" haha

|
I have a soft spot for Switchfoot, too. Especially since I'm also from San Diego...well actually, any pop punk San Diego band falls under the "guilty pleasure" category. Unwritten Law, Blink 182...bleh
And also I listen to Thrice and The Ataris. Kill me now. |

Sometimes I'm embarrassed about liking System Of A Down.
I also still really like Coldplay's first two records, and that's hard for people to deal with sometimes. |
I don't admit this to people I know in person, but I actually like Gwen Stefani. Her stuff is just so damn catchy.
|
I'm pretty sure that if I lived away from my family, espcially my brother, I would be a bigger punk fan. Until then, though, I've got my select few bands that I get minimal ridicule for. Even though my parents listen to a bit of punk.

i had a horrible month when i was really into good charlotte.im sooooo glad i got over that.

  led zeppelin - Tangerine:lol:
sorry, that was a mistake ... of course not |
I'm embarassed when I listen to stuff like Arcade Fire, Broken Social Scene and Neutral Milk Hotel in front of closed minded people. They make fun of me and I can tend to be self-contious. So that sucks. But I've gotten into the habit of planing the mars volta for them and they usually just pretend to like it so they will look cool. I really hate people who pretend to like music just to fit in.
Me: Yeah I've been digging the mars volta Poser: yeah they ****ing rock Me; *goes into a twenty five minute babble fest about Take The Veil Cerpin Taxt* Poser:....Umm..Yeah the widow is sweet, I like the video...*walks away* |
