azguitar92 09-19-2005 01:53 PM

i really like them!
I'm pretty sure the guy with the neck brace is not Greg.
yeah but the guy with the blaze orange hunting hat with earflaps, and the large brimmed flower hat are Greg.

DBoons Ghost 09-20-2005 06:12 AM

No Control is amazing no doubt. I just think No Control was a bit of a let down. Paid full price for an album 30 minutes in length, where just about every song sounds the same..

No Control, You, I Want to Conquer the World and Henchmen highlight that one for me.

Against the Grain just captures their signature sound to me. It is their defining album, both lyrically and musically.

Drop The Baby 09-20-2005 06:15 AM

I love that album for reasons that you've given for disliking it. The length means that its never dull and its constantly so fast and powerful.

You definately picked out the best songs though, they are incredible. Not taking it away from other songs though, there are some other crackers e.g. change of ideas and Big Bang

TakeWarning 09-20-2005 06:32 AM
No-one ever comes down under. Well no punk bands anyway, they all tend to stick to the USA or the UK. Sad times.
Wankers, all of them.

No Control is awesome, just about every song is a highlight. The songs do sound a little similar but it's still a great album.

Yeah start to finish it's great to be honest. I can listen to it all and not be unhappy.

I still think it should have been an EP and been maybe 7 bucks though.

TakeWarning 09-20-2005 06:37 AM

I reckon Progress is the best song on No Control, I can listen to that over and over. Does anyone agree with me?

Drop The Baby 09-20-2005 07:07 AM

i was just listening to that song thinking it was great. I don't agree with you though.

Man, I love Change Of Ideas.

But yeah, Faith Alone, Walk Away, and Anesthesia; Against The Grain is sooooo good.

Drop The Baby 09-20-2005 08:37 AM

I love Anesthesia, what a f'ucking amazing song.

I think that Sorrow and Los Angeles Is Burning are so much better live than they are on record (not that they are bad on record)

fatwreckpunk 09-22-2005 11:48 AM

victimofreality 09-22-2005 03:43 PM

Great band.

DBoons Ghost 09-22-2005 03:46 PM

I still remember back in the 80s when I got How Could Hell Be Any Worse? on cassette.

It was the first west coast band I allowed myself to listen to.

I love them. I've seen them close to 10 times at least over the years.

Buzzbomb 09-22-2005 03:51 PM

This is one of my favourite bands. I finally bought Generator today and im gonna give it a listening to soon.

gastery6 09-22-2005 06:57 PM

I was ignoreing Bad Religion for a while, then I started to listen them again and I was liek what was I thinking not listening to them for so long.

You could say it again...

ocpunk37 09-26-2005 12:50 AM

I Love The Lyrics From How Can Hell Be Any Worse.

After That They Start To Sell Out For Epitaph Or Whatever They Are Called

fatwreckpunk 09-26-2005 05:20 AM

they are just doing what pretty much every other punk band are doing right now, which is making money. If they say they are playing just for the music, they are lying through their back teeth in my opinion. Perhaps in the first 10 years of their career they were playing more for the music but now Epitaph is just about money and making bands get big through it. Why are they signing Atmosphere and all these other rap acts.
WHATS GOING ON !!!

max_facekick 09-26-2005 10:27 AM

they are back on tour again with anti-flag, pennywise, and murphys law, Tickets are really expensive though......I would probably go for Bad Religion and Murphys Law.

Atmosphere & Sage Francis are easily two of my favorite Rappers (and I don't like much rap) and I couldn't be happier having them on Epitaph, people are always saying "OMGZZZZ that bands not Pnuk An Teir on EpiTaph!!!!11" some of the best bands on Epitaph aren't punk, take sage francis, the black keys and dave hillyard for example.

Anyway, as for bad religion, I like alot of their stuff. and I think I'm on my own when I say The Empire.... was one of their best records. (Against the Grain was the best though)

Let's Chop Cats! 09-26-2005 08:02 PM

Oh yeah if anyone didn't know yet, new album sometime next year. As said by Brett in an interview.

AIRIC 09-26-2005 08:03 PM

I wonder if they stay the same in the main stream.

Weezerfan_returns 09-26-2005 10:56 PM
I wonder if they stay the same in the main stream.
They were on atlantic records, and have had a lot of videos and such. So they've kind of already been "in the mainstream". I don't think they're going to get much bigger than they've ever been, seeing as they're old as hell, and most people who listen to "mainstream" music would hate them.

It's their record label, if they want to sign rap, they can sign rap, no where does it say they are an exclusively punk record label, they just happen to sign mostly punk bands.

NEDM 09-27-2005 09:04 AM

Bad Religion used to be one of my favorite bands. But I got really tired of them. :upset:

MAthiAS 09-27-2005 03:23 PM

I've loved them for years and still do, old and new, its all great. Greg Graffin is probably my favorite singer and lyricist ever.

I'm with you, I think it's an amazing record. My favourite is No Control.
Amazing Band. Amazing live. One song I hate though, is 21st Centruty Digital Boy. My favourite song is either Skyscraper, Modern Man or Shattered Faith.

It's Brett's record label.

Other than that, and that BR is on Epitaph, Epitaph has nothing to do with Bad Religion.

Whoever was complaining about Bad Religion because of Epitaph, may I remind you that your name is fat wreck punk. Do the crappy bands on fat wreck mean that NOFX sucks and don't care about music?

Link K2B 09-27-2005 05:05 PM

Personally I reckon Bad Religion's best albums were made on Epitaph in the early 90s. After they went to Sony they just went downhill a bit. I mean they became more musically diverse but I preferred their earlier stuff.

And their last album was a bit of a letdown as well, the worst since No Substance. Too many filler tracks I reckon.

MAthiAS 09-27-2005 07:35 PM

It had a couple tracks that weren't so great, but the rest was amazing IMO.
