Isnt this stuff getting labelled white belt now?

I have no clue. I just call it deathcore because I like the way the name sounds, and it describes the sound really well. I still think it's just metalcore with a more deathish approach.

I can dig it in bursts, its hard to totally get into anything with zilch emotional content.

Try these guys as well. They're from NJ and not even signed, but they're amazing.

I think the fact that death metal is falsely associated with the genre of punk is an entirely misconceived notion. The essence of a genre does not lay within a bands lyrics or riffs, but with how many false idols are raised in respect to ones so-called god given talent. It is not the common inhabitant of earth to decide the genre such as "deathcore" but it is the role of those that inhabit a higher mortal coil aka thor, king of the norse gods

ANyway, ID's new album, Solace isn't as good as BiI but it's still classy.

I listened to the three Stick To Your Guns songs, and I stopped there.

The band had a good vocal delivery, but the transitions were terrible. The instrumentation was poor as well.

I like Animosity sometimes and other times just think they're really boring. They are closed to death metal than everything else in here though with only really minimal -core influences. Their drummer is insane and is now the new drummer for Sleep Terror.

Dead to Fall definitely has death metal influence, I'm not sure they sound like the other bands listed though, Glass Casket, Red Chord, despised Icon, BTBAM, they all toe the line between technical death and metalcore

one thing is for certain, they don't resemble any form of punk in the slightest

The point is that we're not talking about metal, we're talking about Deathcore. :rolleyes:

Kittens, this conversation could be had either place but these guys are generally more knowledgable about anything with a core at the end of it.

I would definitely say that these bands fit more into metal than into hardcore/emo though.

Exactly. Some of the groups have a very distinct hardcore sound, and are basically just metalcore with some death elements, such as STYG. Everyone on these boards seems to hate them though. :(
