How much??? Would I hear a difference???
What kind of difference???
What I've noticed on the older ones was a crisper, clearer tone with a bit more sustain.

The O-scope experiment pretty much confirmed the crisp, clear tone thing, as the waveform was nicer.
I've posted this before but figured that I should post it here also. Here is a list of items found on the MIA basses that aren't on the CIJ or MIM. MIA Fender Basses have;

Graphite re-enforced necks
Bi-flex 2 way truss rod
Die Cast tuners
Bridge that allows string-thru-body or top load stringing
Better pickups
Better electronics (potentiometers)
Much better fretwork
Better grade of wood for the body and neck
Comes with a hardshell case
Straplocks

This is why the MIA basses cost more than the other Fenders.

Just FYI
It's made in the U.S.(gotta' pay for that robotic technology).That's why it cost's more.Graphite reinforced necks are tone sucking and so are other than vintage truss rods(bi-flex).The new noiseless pups are horrible and sound nothing like a vintage pup.The MIJ are more vintage accurate eg:MIJ's use north pole magnets(like vintage gits)which US hasn't used in 50 yrs.Wood grade is the same as MIJ as necks and bodies are supplied from custom builders.Fretwork on MIJ's is equal to US and sometimes better.Electronics(pots,switch,jack and wire)are lacking in the MIJ's(the only thing lacking on the MIJ's).Hey,you got a hardshell case(cost you a grand though).The Mexican gits are horrible as the necks are way too small and the frets aren't nearly high enough for a "real"(70's)player.Please learn the Larry Carlton Kid Charlemagne solo and play it for me and I'll give you a thousand dollars (especially finger flappin')shredders.
