incubus is due for another acoustic concert. I think they should play Nice to Know You (my fav incubus song) acoustic. It would sound really good.

I haven't posted in this thread before, so I must say that Incubus is a talented band that writes great songs. Definitly the best band out there today, although not many people realize it. :thumb:
they do have an acoustic version to nice to know you...its pretty kick *** and brandon starts singing like a vergin in the middle of the bridge...pretty cool ****....i just wanna say incubus f'in rocks like nobody else and is wicked inspiring to my writing and everything and i also agree that ben is a great addition to the band...i mean..did anyone hear what the guy did to half of dirk's stuff? he tore that **** apart!!

DonMancini 01-10-2005 05:21 PM

I just bought Morning View (well yesterday).

Doesn't seem as solid and kickass as science but it's very good nonetheless :)

theGirlwhoLived 01-10-2005 10:09 PM
Incubus write amazingly catchy yet complex songs, hence why they are one of my all time faves. I hate the way they get written off as posers because they are good looking? Jealous bunch of cunts. ACLOTM was a brilliant album in my opinion, Here In My Room is one of the best songs they have ever written.
completely agree

G-UnitKid171 01-12-2005 08:54 AM

I personally like rap, but I am a fan of some of the Incubus songs. I really haven't heard many but the ones I have heard I like.

IncMan 01-12-2005 09:12 AM

Mike

The best thing about ACLOTM is that they really let mike show his skills.. I think they were holding him back from showing off some of his real skill in the past albums (with exceptions).. most of his playing in ACLOTM is crazy and mind blowing (sick sad little world, to name one).. his playing just makes the song flow and i hope in the next ablum they will really let him show more of his playing ability..:thumb:
I think they were holding him back from showing off some of his real skill in the past albums (with exceptions)
According to interviews he was kind of holding himself back. He was focusing more on just adding what the song needs as opposed to figuring out what the song needs and then expanding upon it and taking the song alot farther.

KappaKid17 01-12-2005 12:59 PM

But then again, I think the only reason people seem to think Mike was being held back prior to ACLOTM is that there are a rare few solos on Make Yourself and Morning View. On SCIENCE we had solos in Summer Romance and Deep Inside, but that's really almost been all we'd see out of him. I think what comes with the maturation of Incubus' music came less need for Mike to go out and shred, and his guitar playing ability really shines in the pieces he writes. I think he's amazingly underrated, mostly because people haven't heard tons of blistering solos by the man, but the bottom line is that he's more creative and open-minded, and that's what keeps his playing so unique. He experiments with many foreign scales, octaves. I really enjoy that about his playing. Mike doesn't seem like a guy bent on conflict, so I'm sure that if he wanted to solo, he would only do it when a song would require it and not ruin the flow the song has put forth, thus we see a couple of solos on ACLOTM (Priceless, Sick Sad Little World, a smaller one on Here In My Room).

morning view is their softest album....get Crow Left..you wont be dissappointed

Happymeal 01-12-2005 06:32 PM

I like every Incubus album for different reasons. I don't think it's right to shun Morning View and ACLOTM just because they're "too poppy" or they "lack solos"(though I really do miss the funk). The band more or less changes their style with every release, which I think is why they even lasted more than a decade long.

CiminoUM5 01-12-2005 11:43 PM

Kappa, I agree w/pretty much everything you said, though there's more than a couple solos on ACLOTM. The one's you noted are probably the most memorable (especially Sick, Sad Little World....one of my favorite solos of all time), but in addition to those 3, he also solos in Talk Shows, Pistola, Zee Devel, and Made for TV Movie.

I'm really glad he's expanding into this area too. Like you mentioned, he hadn't done much soloing on the past several albums. MY only had Drive and Nowhere Fast, SCIENCE only had Anti-Gravity and Deep Inside and MV didn't have any. He had a number on Fungus, though....Hilkus, Sink Beneath the Line, Psycosilocybin (several kick-*** ones, actually), and Trouble in 421.

Can't wait to hear what he's got in store for the next albu, especially after hearing The Odyssey and Follow...

opethsurfer1 01-13-2005 01:24 PM

Incubus are a very kool band an probably the best around atm and i also hate radiohead i cnt see hoe ppl can like them but owell

Radiohead? Where's that coming from?

kirkrock85 01-13-2005 03:20 PM

Mike Einziger is easily the best writer out there today. He really is the musical driving force behind the band. Listening to his work from Fungus Amoungus to ACLOTM is just so varied it's simply amazing. They went from a funk/jazz/metal thing to an epic experitmental rock band. The thing about Mike's playing is that it's never as easy as it sounds. Listen to Nebula, sh*t. The guitar is all over the place, not to mention all the effects his using. That takes a lot of concentration when you use effects like he does. He's a huge reason why I play guitar and why I'm in a band. He's a huge inspiration.

just BRAINdead 01-13-2005 03:30 PM

I fell in love with incubus the first time i heard their song stellar. them I started listening to their other albums and I cant believe how mellow this band is. Mike is like an idol to me. My favorite songs are Stellar, Wish you were here, Talk Show on mute, and Drive.

Griffith 01-14-2005 06:05 PM

Incubus are a good band.

A Crow Left of the Murder, to me, is their best album.

Ben Kenney is great. He fits much better then Dirk would with the newer material.

im starting to like Beware Criminal a lot recently, anyone else?

Oh there's no doubt about that, he was a solid bassist for Incubus. He just came off as arrogant at times.

KappaKid17 01-14-2005 11:41 PM

With talent such as his, I could see that being quite easy for him...

However Kenney, without a doubt, fits Incubus' current sound the best.

i.love.incubus

i know it ALL when it comes to incubus :)

i like everything they release, and strive to get anything they havent offically released myself.

mike einziger is a GENIOUS, i can't wait for his EP which I pray will come out. His work on the Time Lapse Consortinum is GENIOUS, and guitarists dream CD with 12 songs all written in a week

TonalMayhem 01-14-2005 11:45 PM

I love that band. They are quite possibly my fav. ever. I finally got the opportunity to see them live just last summer. It was fawkin' amazing. Einziger is my HERO, but I miss Dirk. My fav. cds I think were Make Yourself and Morning View. I liked MV just because it was a really chill cd. Something you would take on a long roadtrip ya know.

yes... ben kenney's new album is also amazing...

a certain shade of green 01-15-2005 10:39 AM

Incubus Rock! they are easily one of my favourite bands ever. There is nothin bad about them! I also love the fact that they aren't that well known in the UK

feeniks 01-15-2005 02:48 PM

Incubus is effing great and they're my fav band. I have all of their CDs and DVDs. Brandon is an amazing vocalist, Mike is one of the best modern guitarists out there, Dirk Lance was awesome and funky while he was with them and Ben is doing a nice job of filling in for him although you can't replace Dirk. Jose is a very original and different drummer.. as for Kilmore; He's cool. Haha.

If you have listened to all their CDs you can see how they and their sound are maturing.

ween2424 01-15-2005 08:22 PM

the greatest band. most original, most well rounded. brandon boyds vocals are phenomenal and his lyrics are well thought out. mikes a guitar genious. ben kenney is incredible. ive been a fan since the release of S.C.I.E.N.C.E. i was fortunate enough to see them on the latest tour, it was incredible. if you own the new dvd alive at red rocks you know what im talking about

KappaKid17 01-15-2005 08:32 PM

Sure do, and welcome! Good 1st post.

Janitor 01-15-2005 08:35 PM

Hmm. Kilmore never gets any respect.

KappaKid17 01-15-2005 09:47 PM

He always takes a backseat, but he's just as critical to Incubus' overall sound as anyone else.

oliveri4string 01-16-2005 09:01 AM

Incubus are an awesome massively underrated band who always get dumped with the "average" tag, but they're far more than that. They're music has never been too repetitive, has changed with every album, and shows they're a band who aren't afraid to up the ante by experimenting with all kinds of samples, effects and styles. Morning View is an awesome album, its the kind of album you can get lost in, particularly tracks like wish you were here, echo and Aqueous transmission.

The first cd's, fungus amoungus and enjoy are worth listening to just to see how far they've come. Also the volume 2 dvd is brill, loads of quality vids and live stuff, and the video for "take me to your leader" is bizarre but cool

KappaKid17 01-16-2005 01:36 PM

I just downloaded Incubus' entire performance at Rock in Rio, and it's amazing. Check it out on bt-torrent.com if anyone'd care to download it.

incubliss 01-16-2005 01:39 PM

twice i've seen you put that torrent site up, and twice it hasn't worked!

give me the right one now, i demand it. i need a torrent site again!

KappaKid17 01-16-2005 01:45 PM

haha, sorry.

Let me look for the correct link.

KappaKid17 01-16-2005 01:46 PM

BAH!

It's www.bi-torrent.com .

That 'i' makes a huge difference.

Janitor 01-16-2005 01:49 PM

I have Under My Umbrella from the Rock in Rio performance. Is the rest as good as that?

incubliss 01-16-2005 01:55 PM

thank you!

i was trying stuff like bttorrent.com, bt-torrent.net, bt-torrent.org, everything i could think of!

thanks :D

KappaKid17 01-16-2005 02:24 PM
I have Under My Umbrella from the Rock in Rio performance. Is the rest as good as that?
Yep, sure is. Under My Umbrella, between it and the Warmth, is probably my favorite Incubus song, ever.

IncMan 01-20-2005 08:11 AM

I have seen some great bands in concert and i dont think any of the any of them compare to the two incubus concerts i have seen. :thumb:
do you guys think incubus is one of the best live bands? if not then what band is better live?

opeth_oasis 04-29-2005 04:38 AM

I never knew what an amazing Incubus was. My friend let me borrow Morning View, and it appealed to me in so many ways. I later bought S.C.I.E.N.C.E, Fungus Amongus and Make Yourself. Fungus Amongus is the sexiest album ever

SuperNinja 04-29-2005 10:02 AM

Personally Incubus is my favorite band and anyone who says there selling out or they're newer stuff sucks well your wrong cause if u listen to all incubus each song has its own meaning and i think that all there stuff is great my favorite album would probably be Make Yourself Science for #1 Morning View ACLOTM #2

Ganondorf 04-29-2005 10:19 AM

That kid at the beggining of the thread who said that rap isn't real music is retarded.
