btw, i'm not VOTING in comparison to ur other songs, i'm CRITing (yes i know thats not a word) in comparison to ur own songs
ranks and ratings were not effected

jurialmunkey 12-09-2004 03:12 PM

^^ The word is critiquing stoopid.

.... Ignore me
I'm just being stupid.
hmmm.. its been a while since i've witnessed your bizarre style of songwriting. You definately have HUGE talent, but wether it communicates to the audience/reader or not, obviously is subjective, but in the case of your style will influence this aspect negatively. Lyrically and poetically, notthing short of amazing tho. I really like the intro (for its originality, and fresh approach) and the chorus.
RE: "Bizarre style of songwriting"
- I definately take that as a compliment; Bizarre is one of my main objectives.

Re: My Style making it difficult to communicate to the audience.
- I also take this as a compliment. I'm not trying to communicate to everyone, those that can appreciate and find their own within my pieces are the people that I want to read my pieces... For those that can't find meaning or appreciate my work; I don't care much for those people and would rather they never experienced my work in the first place.

"HUGE talent" - Thankyou. Yes, I am rather huge :naughty:

d0ped0g 12-09-2004 09:42 PM

the first definately WAS a complement... i always seem to use regular 4 line stanzas throughout my songs, and ppl probably get tired of seeing the same format every time

the second was neither. It means that your peice is completely interpretive (which is definately a good thing), but might become far too enigmatic (if that is a word) to ppl who dont have much an open mind.

jurialmunkey 12-10-2004 01:29 AM

yep... I know what you were saying... I was saying that I feel complimented by that comment.

pixiesfanyo 12-10-2004 06:32 PM

So, how about them there top 500 rankings. I didn't make top 100. Oh well.

Really? That's a shame, I do say. A lot of people did better than I expected though, and a few did worse.

pixiesfanyo 12-10-2004 07:10 PM

^ You are a post whore. Leave this sacred place.

I just saw Murder by Death and The Arcade Fire @ the bossanova in Portland, OR.
The line up was: Fembots then Murder by Death then Arcade Fire with The Weakerthans headlining.

Fuk.... The Arcade Fire was fuking cool; I love it when a band thats NOT the headliner blows the headliner out of the water and people debate whether or not its even worth staying to listen to the headliner and half the crowd leaves....

The Weakerthans... Oh My God you guys suk, how dare you headline a bill where every single band is better than you (Fembots included... and they play crappy NW country inspired pop)

Murder by Death was really cool as well... The spoken word is coming back!!

pixiesfanyo 12-11-2004 07:02 AM

The Arcade Fire are fantastic.

Sarcasm Princess 12-12-2004 01:46 AM

Yes, they are.

jurialmunkey 12-12-2004 01:49 AM

Oh...

My...

God...

Who are you and what are you doing with my avatar!!!!??? WTF!!! :amaze:

Sarcasm Princess 12-12-2004 02:02 AM

Muhahhahahahahaha....

A_Perfect_Sonnet 12-12-2004 01:27 PM

the weakerthans...

:thumbs down:

A_Perfect_Sonnet 12-12-2004 04:47 PM

i thought the singing was way too weak, and the guitar lines got repetative

jurialmunkey 12-12-2004 05:36 PM

Yeah, I thought they were very average and generic... especially in the face of Murder by Death and Arcade Fire. They seem like they are trying to please a certain audience and 'buy' into a specific sound just to make money rather than doing their own thing... not my cup of tea. Its would have been better if the line up was

Fembots, The Weakerthans, Murder by Death, Arcade Fire... for the Weakerthans to headline was just ridiculus. In a way it was good though because I didn't feel bad leaving half way through their set becoz I had to catch the bus back home. (and I nearly missed it which would have sucked coz it was raining and stuff.)

BTW my ranks are up... I'll try to get some crits done but can't promise anything.

d0ped0g 12-12-2004 05:36 PM

where is the love?

A_Perfect_Sonnet 12-12-2004 06:32 PM

yeah i listened to the arcade fire, and i enjoyed it very much... it was sort of like bright eyes meets cursive... kinda

which i enjoyed.

pixiesfanyo 12-12-2004 06:52 PM
yeah i listened to the arcade fire, and i enjoyed it very much... it was sort of like bright eyes meets cursive... kinda
What the fuck..

They are nothing like that. Shut the hell up.

If you wanted to make a comparsion you could say they are like Modest Mouse with classical infulences.

A_Perfect_Sonnet 12-12-2004 06:56 PM

okay, then they are like modest mouse with classical influences

but i still liked them

APerfectSonnet?

6945 12-13-2004 01:12 PM

6945-8- i really dislike the vocabulary in your song and it all goes to ruin the use of the challenge word, which should be given at least an equal importance to other words/phrases in your song.

xKONRADx - could you clarify " ruin the use of the challenge word" please?

^ dont really know how to explain how i feel. but that definately doesnt fit to me. who knows, maybe youve hit on a style that will turn out to make you famous, but revolutions sometimes take time to gain recognition.
i guess its just preference.

buzzrat's votes need to be ranked by him, and he needs to justify at least his ranking of pixiesfanyo, or i think the votes should be DQ.

d0ped0g 12-14-2004 01:25 PM

not to mention subtledagger, jurialmonkey, and possibly my ranking.
i suppose it is all opinion, but ppl should have the good sense to provide crits... especially for votes as dramatically unexpected as that

edit: it seems a shocking coincidence that all the votes start at the top... then progressively go downwards as the list moves down (with the exeption of himself who he voted last)... almost as if he just voted to get it out of the way so he can enter nxt challenge.

A_Perfect_Sonnet 12-14-2004 02:12 PM

you all get 1st place in my book, except for buzzrat, he gets 10th

Sarcasm Princess 12-14-2004 05:50 PM
02. VOTING
[iii] You must vote for everyone EXCLUDING yourself.

[iv] To Vote you give every person (NOT including yourself) a rank of Best (1) to Worst (Depends on the number of entries.)

[v] There is to be no tied ranks and no predjudices.

[vi] Although it is not compulsory to post a critique of every song, if asked to, you must be able to justify your scores.

03. HOW THE VOTES ARE TALLIED
Once the voting is closed, all incomplete or wrongly completed votes are discarded...
If buzzrats votes do not meet these criteria before voting is finished then his votes are thrown out.
