Let's update this thread a little!
Kif's recommendations Brand New Disaster have been one of my favourite bands of the year. Their new album is very heavy pop-punk stuff, and though it doesn't bring much new stuff to the genre, they pull out some amazing pop-punk songs. Check out "Blades Don't Need Reloading" and "Walking Wounded" on the Purevolume Kane Hodder are by far one of the catchiest bands I have ever heard this year. They manage to fuse indie "NME-rock" with powerful hardcore breakdowns and screams. Their debut album Pleasure To Remain So Heartless is a spectacular piece of work. On their Purevolume, check out "I Think Patrick Swayze Is Sexy" and "Attack On Tir Asleen" Rufio are also high on my recommendations list. Their new album, The Comfort Of Home, is a perfect summer album filled with catchy melodies and well-written pop punk anthems. They only have one song off the new album on their Purevolume though, called "Out Of Control". Nevertheless, it's still amazing Bear Vs. Shark are my last recommendation. They are a solid pure pop-punk band, swinging out tunes perfect for the summer. The addition of a high female voice and lyrics that just get stuck in your head make them perfect for this genre. On the PV, check out "Vermont" and "Operation Eyes Closed" |
Of Blessings and Burdens
For Fans Of Emo/Screamo/Metal looking for something new and refreshing in the genre. Welcome "Of Blessings and Burdens". They are four piece "Radcore" band from my area (Western Massachusetts), and have been together for around a year, but already have a full length cd and a music video being in production. They're also playing on the Warped Tour in Northampton, MA. Check em out, you will never regret it. Their first single, "Never Bled Like This". (Showcases their heavier stuff) http://s45.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=1SIEPK2AXUCS32OHY4CP2Y9K4N A more fast paced song. ..."Words Spoken" http://xcomewinterx.tripod.com/wordsspoken.mp3 |
to anyone who is into emo, i suggest downloading songs from the band "copeland" they are fantastic. P.S if anyone has a tab to the song "hold nothing back" by copeland i would greatly appreciate it if you could tell me or send to my email. pounder52@hotmail.com

Nice first post I guess, Copeland are awesome. I only have In Motion, but it's beautiful
|
try Pink Razors. Fast, furious pop-punk in one and a half minute bursts. Their EP, Scene Suicide is out on Robotic Empire.
http://www.purevolume.com/pinkrazors |
Summer recommendations!
The Academy Is... are one of the best bands to hit 2005 in my opinion. They have this talent of creating fun pop-punk songs without being too loud. And Will's vocals sound beautiful over the top. Check out "Checkmarks" and "Seasons" on their PV. Panic! At The Disco are another pop-punk band blending dance melodies into their music. Similar to Hellogoodbye with more of a Fall Out Boy pop-punk sound, this band are set to get bigger this year. Check out "Relax Relapse" and "It's Time To Dance" on their PV. Day At The Fair are Drive-Thru's latest offering of pop-punk, and they have made a good choice this time. With a mix of The Movielife and The Starting Line, DATF are an excellent choice for summer. Check out "The Blame Anxiety" and "Eastern Homes And Western Hearts" on their PV. Over It are the last band I recommend. They are pure pop-punk and they can pull out anthem after anthem, blending polished guitar riffs and well sung vocals. Check out "Siren On The 101" and "Waiting" on their PV |
Hey, I was just going to come over and reccomend Day At The Fair. I saw them last night, they had so much energy.
|

Check out "Siren On The 101" and "Waiting" on their PV
'Crush' and 'Fall' are the superior songs, Kif. Timing Is Everything > Their other albums. And as for your other post with Bear Vs. Shark, they surely are not pure pop-punk, with the screaming and all. |
Probbably my favourite band next to Rancid, Lars Frederiksen and the Bastards.
For those that see that name and go whos thisss, please please check em out. Lars is the guitarsit from rancid behind tim armstrong. LFB have appearances from Tim Armstrong and Skinhead Rob from the transplants, there a great band check em out you'll get hooked. |
sakita sarra.
I know this is a "Pop-Punk" Sub-forum, but I was wondering if anyone knew some good bands/songs (whether it be emo/alternative/metal/rock/etc) that uses the piano well. Kinda a weird question I know, but I think that songs/bands that can effectively incorporate the the piano into their songs (Trains done it, Journey, Straylight Run's "Existentialism," etc.) sounds totally different and seem to blend more styles into one. Maybe its just me, but I love it. So if you guys/girls have any good suggestions/recommendations... for sure post them. Thanks
old post but i've been listening to waking ashland and theyv got a piano, anyone that likes a punk/piano sound should download the politics of life by waking ashland |
Carpetmouth
Right. This band from my hometown are really great. They are awsome live (even though Stani is usually too drunk to play) and are all really great guys. Definately deserve a record deal IMO. What do ya think? http://www.purevolume.com/carpetmouth http://www.carpetmouth.co.uk |
I've got a question. I've been meaning to get into good pop-punk lately, but not stuff like Blink-182, Alkaline Trio, Sum 41, The Used, etc. I like the Descendants a lot, what are somke good bands like them?

My Chemical Romance - "You Know What They Do to Guys Like Us In Prison", "Thank You for the Venom"; "Headfirst for Halos" Alt Rock; Alt Pop Barenaked Ladies - "Falling For the First Time"; "Shoebox"; "Aluminum" |
