I thought this album was alot more mature than anything before, but "feeling this" got VERY irritating, being repeated on radio/tv all the time... Best song is the one with the intro where an astranout is lost in space (kant remember the name) 7/10

i've been a big blink fan since i was 12, and i thought they couldn't get any better than adams song on enema, but this entire album rocks. I love love love how the song b4 the one w/robert smith and itself run together. its such an experimental and artistic compilation. i think the last song is so dizzying, it makes me feel like i'm floating or something. 8.5/10

If you like this album so much why don't you give it 10/10 |
Maybe they have some sense in them and are trying to be objective with the album. I love Jimmy Eat World but their discography isn't 5/5 material, not even their magnum opus. :)

OK. I have just gotta get something off my chest. I don't post heaps and heaps of messages, i usually just read. But something is really getting on my nerves. Some people are just absolutely obsessed with 'selling out'!!! Blink 182, Chili Peppers, all those bands who may have changed their sound slightly have NOT SOLD OUT!!! As a fan of the two mentioned bands, i know that these guys are not worried about album sales or making money, they just want to make music that they love. Just get over the 'sold out' thing and think of something that's not as lame.
Sorry if i offended anyone but i think many people will agree with what i have said. |
I think that blink used to be brilliant. but goin by their last album- i was not impressed, any one alse think that?
|
the new album is really good it has to be my fav except for TOYPAJ :thumb:

If you notice, travis seems to have calmed down a lot compared to how he used to be. Personally i prefer Scott Raynor to travis barker becaue he fit with the band more, but travis has started to fit with the band more. Tom has basically unslacked off (if you haven't heard the "strings" solo, go check it out on chesire cat or buddha.. classic tom). Mark has become a more diverse player, actually straying *gasp* from simple eigth notes to provide harmonic as well as rhythmic support. I personally can't compare this to their old stuff, but it still is wicked awesome.

I love blink! great album, trade food for the music, anyways i love every song on this album, how can you not?
|
I like the old Blink. As many of us would say.
It's a letter Marks grandfather wrote to his grandmother during world war two.
what happened to them? |
how good can it be? its blink 182
and yes i have heard several songs from it and they are all equally terrible |
GREAT album, I agree, Marks voice is better then Toms and he should sing more of the songs. Oh well, Great Album 4/5
rating: 8/10
i prefer the new album over anything else blink has done
I'm actually still trying to decide between Take off your Pants and Jacket and the new album which one is better. It's kinda hard to choose, they are both really good! |
i LOVE blink 182 soooo much :D tour in feb guys! get ur asses down there
hm, the new album is so beautiful, but i also love old blink aswell |
I loved this album!!
Being a drummer i am amazed at some of the things travis comes up with, he's definitely one of the most original drummers of today - not just in technique but in the way he plays, he loves to play very fast beats and drum fills and it fits in perfectly with each song. One of the best songs he's ever put a drum beat to was probably "The Anthem Part 2" which i thought was excellent!
i agree with you totally. but the best is the second to last fill on the fallen interlude. every time i hear that im just like not possible. |
not too shabby...stockholm syndrome is probably one of their best songs ever...and remember kids, you know it's time to quit breast feeding your baby when his mustache keeps tickling you...and stay in school. :thumb:

Im going 2 see these guys at NEC b'ham
: ) thrashfanatic shut up u nooblet |
3/10
this album sucked |
i must say that this album is utter crap.
because it is. old stuff was great. new stuff is not. simple really. none of you know anything. it's appaling (runs for cover from new-blink fans with knives) |
And the flag of elitism has risen...
|
My God Blink 1-8-2 sucks. Seriously, when your biggest calling card is that you're fun loving and have sexual intercourse with dogs, and then you go serious, you gotta be pissing off your fanbase.
|
ehh blinks 3rd best album, after Buddha and Dude Ranch
|
wow i ve never seen someone whose fav bands are blink 182 and led zeppelin. Nothing wrong with it though.
|
When I heard "Feeling This" on the radio, (or on TV, don't remember which) I loved it. Its a very catchy song, and because I couldn't get it out of my head, I had my friend make a copy of the cd for me. Thank God I didn't buy it! I got to the fourth song and I couldn't listen to it any more, it was so bad. But, ya know, I'll admire Blink for having the balls to try something new. I don't know; maybe I'm just a fan of the older Blink.

gg listen to "Miss You" stoned
|
I don't like the idea that a band is more mature because they're making slower songs all of a sudden. Being immature was Blink's entire gimmick, and I think they did the maturity thing best on "Dammit." Oh well, at least it's an unbiased review (read: not from a bassist).
dammit is no boubt the best song on dude ranch.the intro is hella fun to play and the entire song is easy but cool.i just had to say that even though its a completely different album |
Has Blink-182 really grown up or have they been bitten by the emo bug?
Edit: I'm not a "hater". |

u know there getting old and have wifes and kids now right? they cant be singing about fucking dogs up the ass anymore. |
this is the one blink album i still listen to. i grew up in my tastes and shaked the whole pop-punk scene off. but this album is still in my cd holder that i carry around. theres just alot more to look into in this album then others that they have. i hope this is a sound that they'll keep for the remainder of their career.
|
^^^ Kinda agree. Albeit, this album doesn't have a "Dammit" or "M+M's", I still think this is their best album to date, as I was saying to pixiesfanyo. It's not perfect but even the worst songs aren't really all that bad. Here's to their future.
|
Yeah. Since Cheshire Cat all of the Blink CDS have had a couple really great tracks and then a bunch of filler. Then this came out, and there really isn't a hit track because all of them balance the others out so well.
|
praise...
I play drums, guitar, and sing and let me tell you that every single aspect of the new blink CD on each instrument is simply amazing. I was an on and off kinda blink fan until this CD came out and they got me. I saw them at summerfest up in milwaukee and they played almost the whole album and not only have their albums grown up but their stage precense (sp) too. i love blink-182
|
i thought i was going to be disappointed with this album. but as it turns out it has some of blinks best work, and definitely their most different. no bathroom humor on this one, which is sort of a double edge sword. on one hand thats blinks gimmick, its what they do, what theyre known for. but on the other hand its a little bit of a refreshing change to hear them get serious about their music. great job on the review by the way, i much prefer the song by song breakdowns so thanks. id say pick this one up even if youve never been a blink fan in the past.
|
I hate blink, but when i heard this album i didnt even know who it was and i loved it!
