Quite correct, except it is called OPEL on this side of the world.

Great little car, very happy with it.

maniac0796 11-20-2006 03:09 PM

I think Britain is the only place it's called Vauxhall. My nan has one. It goes like **** off a shovel.

I'd much prefer an older Seat Ibiza though.

And i didn't know you guy drove on the left hand side of the road...., interesting

nice buy anyway, good cars them, and the parts are cheap if it breaks down.

^^^That looks fugly to an extreme level

And update time:

No work took place on the bass this past weekend and most likely none will take place next weekend.

Reason for no work over the past weekend was becasue I was installing sound in my car.

Reason for next weekend being without progress most likely will be because I am meeting up with the best man and maid of honour to hopefully finalise a florist for my wedding.

HELLonWHEELS 11-27-2006 06:43 PM

Hobbes is getting married.

awwwww

Ah yes, my tasty man meat will be off the market ladies, so sorry to disapoint.

ebe9 12-09-2006 10:35 AM

Update time................finally

And my apologies, as it is once agin a minimal one.

I did not want to get into shaping the neck just yet as I would still like some of the bulk of the neck core to act as guide-rails when routing the headstock, still figuring that one out.

Anyway, enough excuses, picture time:

I am very please with how it turned out considering this was my first attempt ever at routing a truss rod channel.

FunkMetalBass 12-09-2006 11:05 AM

My truss rod channel turned out looking like complete ****.

Congrats on successful routering.

Thank you.

I used the fence post / guide rail that came with the routed and did it is about 4/5 passes, the last 2 being about half a mm to get the ends of the truss tod to sit flush with the surface that the fingerboard is going to sit.

I found the trick was to take it slowly but not so slowly that the router bit was burning the wood, it did in one or two spots, but that was mainly where I plunged into the wood.

PsychoTronn 12-24-2006 03:12 AM

thats awesome

As for moderator, about 2 - 3 weeks

moghes69 12-27-2006 05:56 PM

any new progress?

TheClap 12-27-2006 08:01 PM

Stand or endpin?

ebe9 12-27-2006 08:05 PM
any new progress?
I am currently out of the country at the moment and will be until halfway through January, so nothing will be happening until then.

As for Stand or Endpin, I will be using a stand of some sort, I have yet to really look into that and might actually wind up making my own or using a heavy duty cymbol stand.

Jimbobntnr 01-06-2007 08:48 AM

This looks great so far!

maniac0796 01-26-2007 03:49 PM

Get cracking with this EUB Ebe, we need more pics!

Actually did a little work this weekend.

I will post a couple pics a bit later, but just starting to get back into it after the holidays. :thumb:
any updates?
Afraid not.

Been so busy with other things. I really must get going again on this.

Sorry all :upset:

ebe9 02-24-2007 07:24 AM

Well I finally sat down and did some work on this project today. Not a hell of a lot in terms of real visual change, but it was a tricky part that I was stressing about a bit.

I was not sure my routing skills would be up to the task, but it came right.

Anyhow, on to the pictures.

Just a shot of the central neck core as it currently stands.

A bit of a close up of what I have been up to in terms of actual work

A decent close up. The inside part is going to need a bit of smoothing and sanding so that the tuning machines will mount flush with the sides.

The next steps will be to router the sides so that the neck core tapers from just below the headstock to the bottom.

Otherwise, just taking it slowly. Lots going on for me at the moment, but it did feel good to work on it again.

fenderstratocaster22 02-24-2007 05:43 PM

looks like a clean routing job, the striping on the project really looks nice too

ebe9 03-03-2007 07:03 AM

Well, got a bit more work done on this project today.

I routered one of the sides, pretty much just did the tapering. I have left a bit of a lip for structural support at this point until I have the fingerboard prepped and ready to be glued. I may still remove the lip before that stage.

Anyhow, on to the pictures.

Just an overview of the project as it stands.

Close up of the tapering.

The bass has collected the nickname of Neopolitan (after the chocolate, strawberry and vanilla mix ice cream, you can see why)

Just a shot showing the tapering in greater relief.
