I thought it was "e-piff-o-knee" a while ago, but that makes no sense a) There is another music brand called "Epifani" pronounced like that, and b) "e-piff-o-knee" is almsot how you pronounce "epiphany".

TheBassStylee 01-30-2006 08:20 PM
No i meant ee-ba-nez. I'm guessing the words origins are spanish, and the spanish pronounciation of I is ee.
i disagree.. origins dont equal pronounciations....
plus i havnt heard a soul call it that, always "eye" not "ee"

> mike

Its "Epi-fone"

Epi as in, nickname for the companies founder, "phone" as in sound. (telephone, phonograph, etc)

Killer Fridge 02-05-2006 06:09 PM

ive heard people pronounce hartke - heart key

and epiphone is most definatly not epiffoknee - its "Epi - fone" as everyone else said

fingerstyle 02-10-2006 02:20 AM

It's epi-phone..... hahha thats funny.

As for Warwick, I've heard people say war-wick and wor-ick (like tis a guys name).... in my opinion its war-wick, but anyone got any clues?

Killer Fridge 02-10-2006 02:52 AM

i say wor-ick for the sake of thats how you pronounce the city with the same name

but the city isnt in germany, so theoretically i would deduce it should be pronounced vor-rick, or somewhere along those lines....

RHCPdave 02-10-2006 04:56 PM

ive always been curious about hohner

It's hard to say.

You don't pronounce it war-wick as such....

Ah I can't type it.

Alma 02-10-2006 11:38 PM
ive always been curious about hohner
Criss Frantic 02-11-2006 11:43 PM

My mate from the Philipines has the coolest way of pronouncing "Ibanez", it's Ib-yan-ez with a short "i" sound like in "it".

BassPlayingPineapple 02-12-2006 05:32 PM

Well, he's not exactly an amp but i've always wondered how you pronounce "Billy Sheehan"

Is it "Shee" "harn", "Sheen" or "Shee Yan"?

Alma 02-13-2006 12:53 AM

Shee - han. Like hand, but without the d.

Klander Brigade 02-14-2006 03:04 PM

For a long time I always pronounced Jaco as "Yah-ko", like it was Spanish, until I realized he's not really Mexican.

Thonk 02-14-2006 10:12 PM

I pronounce "Sheehan", shee-uhn.

And in an artical I read, Jaco's name is pronounced Jack-o.

Omega Red 02-14-2006 10:36 PM

jaco, like taco, paco, or taco

fingerstyle 02-14-2006 10:37 PM

I've always said Jaco 'Jayco'... whoops. Maybe its cos Im australian.

BassPlayingPineapple 02-15-2006 04:05 AM

I sometimes say "Jacko" and sometimes "Jayco".

mfb 02-15-2006 02:26 PM

some article about the jaco tribute concert said it was pronounced "Jack-O".

PainKiller8191 02-15-2006 03:12 PM

Shee-nan

and jaco, like taco

Killer Fridge 02-15-2006 03:20 PM
Shee-nan
that makes no sense

gronk 02-21-2006 06:39 PM

Different cultures have different ways of pronouncing words.

Like in America, a Nissan car is pronounced "Nee-Sun", where as here in Australia, it's just "Nis-sen".

I suppose it's the same with brands.

Behringer: "Bear-rinj-ur"
Ibanez: "Eye-Ba-Nez" (I didn't know people actually said that differently...)
Hartke: "Hart-key"
Schecter: "Sh-ec-ter"
Warwick: "Wo (short 'o')-ric" (I've heard someone pronounce it War-Wick, maybe that is correct, but us Aussie's tend to say our words as quickly as possible.)

True. You got me there. I'm just going off how Jay Leno and the guys on Pimp My Ride pronounce it
