I saw them a couple weeks ago. They're one hell of an epic band.
Yeh...they were good, pretty much my definiton of what a Metal show should be, but I wasn't big on the music. Most Death Metal bores me. |

That's too bad. I found their show enchancting. Especially when the vocalist came out drinking from a horn of meade and the guy behind me was yelling "Odin". So viking! |
I saw them last night.
Lucky bastard. What all did they play? |
Woah, just listened to Necrophagist for the first time. Blew me away.

Oh no, I did love the show. The vocalist screamed Viking lol. And the synchronized head banging and running aroud stage and stuff. It was grand. Definitely a great performance.
Lucky bastard. What all did they play?
Ummm...loud music hehe. To be honest even if I was familiar with their music I'd have been hard-pressed to identify individual songs because a lot of it was pretty muddy soundwise. |

Probably the only extreme metal band I can say I like at the moment. Good band. |

They'll do that to you. What song did you hear? |

Oh yes. The synchronized headbanging was great. Trev, they played a really short set. Very disppointing. Thankfully, they played the legendary Death in Fire. |
Ah, I suppose I will actually post in this one. I need to be kept up to date!
Random **** of the day: I got nylon strings for my acoustic. I got bit by a mosquito three times. MX is extremly slow. |
Lucky bastard. What all did they play?
This was their set at my show : They opened with An Ancient Sign of Coming Storm, then went right into The Pursuit Of Vikings. They then played Releasing Surtur's Fire, Down The Slopes of Death and then For The Stabwounds In Our Backs. They then ended up the set with the epic yet simple Death in Fire. Pretty sure that is there set for the whole tour. I love Amon Amarth, so epic yet so simple and still extremely Viking. And Johan is one loud guy. He was yelling over the music with out the mic, and I could still hear him yelling and such. |
They'll do that to you. What song did you hear?
"Intestinal incubation". Willotip records has a very solid line-up. |

Willotip records has a very solid line-up.
Good song. Unfortunately, good as Necrophagist are, you may find them getting monotonous over time. Avoid Epitaph for now, and stick with Onset of Putrefaction (which has Intestinal Incubation). Specifically, listen to to Extreme Unction and Fermented Offal Discharge, if you can. If you like solos - which are pretty much undoubtedly the best part of Necrophagist - , I'd find it difficult to imagine you not liking those tracks. |

And Johan is one loud guy. He was yelling over the music with out the mic, and I could still hear him yelling and such.
This is true. I remember at one point he was screaming into the mic, then he takes it away and I still hear the screaming so I was thinking (momentarily) he was lip-syncing or something, because it was so ungodly loud there was no way I could fathom hearing him over everything else sans a mic. Yet he did it several times and finally I was just blown away by the power in his voice heh. |

Ok, i'll definetly check them out. NP- "Dawn of indifferance": Watchmaker. |
I really need to check some Necrophagist out. I think I downloaded Epitaph off of Soulseek from Neurotoxin? Dunno, but I will listen to it.

Dude check them out, it's really worth it. I've been listening to Onset Of Putrfaction a lot lately and i must say is really good. |
I will. Everyone is saying such great things about them....
What is an ICQ? Is it that thing on your cell phone? |
Dude check them out, it's really worth it. I've been listening to Onset Of Putrfaction a lot lately and i must say is really good.
It will get old, really really quick mind you. The only thing after awhile that stands out is the solos, then even then they become boring as they always seem to be played in the same key and scale... NP - Amon Amarth - The Dragons Flight Across The Waters |
^True. But they are really nice solos.
I need some Amon Amarth albums. They're always overpriced around here. |
I heard the guitar player is insane. Are they like Kalmah? In terms of using the same guitar and keyboard tone and the same solos everytime?
|

speaking of viking metal. anyone ever heard of valkyr or am i just imaging the power metal goodness in my mind.
NP- Laquer Head/anitpop. |

Not even close. Muhammed skill wise wipes the floor with the majority of guitar players. And they don't have a keyboards in Necrophagist. 'Tender : what albums have you heard from them so far? |
^True. But they are really nice solos.

What is an ICQ?
|
Thanks for the link, I'll give it a listen tomorrow.
EDIT: ICQ is a communication service (I-see-kyou). If someone asks for your ICQ number they mean your contact information for ICQ..it's like an email address is for MSN, or a screen name for AIM. ICQ uses numbers.
'Tender : what albums have you heard from them so far?
No full albums. Just songs. But they're melodic, and epic, and the band very cool outside the music. So I want to get to know them. EDIT: Actually, I tried to order an album of theirs from Supernal a year or so ago, but he was out of stock. And now he doesn't sell Amon Amarth albums any more. |

So I want to get to know them.
Get the album Versus The World if you can, it's their best imo. As for their older albums, I disagree about them being better. They are good and all, but they are far less epic sounding, and them being epic in sound has seperated them selfs into their own sound. |
If anyone's interested, you can download the Epitaph album of their forums I think, I got it the other day but I'm not positive it got it from there.

I always miss the first page :(
I think I might put my CD order off till tomorrow, im too tired from work. |
