Hell no. Anyways, I give it to the pussycat dolls, hawthorne heights and maybe black eyed peas. And it's not 2005 but there's this really irrritating filipino song circulating around here and it's horrible. It's horrible dance music. It's called "ocho ocho" or some lame thing like that. |
Coheed & Cambria
One of the best bands for me this year. |
Hawthorne Heights I think. The Bravery have one ok song and The Killers have a couple. It's a similar thing with Bright Eyes, he's not really that good but has a couple of ok songs.
|
isnt this thread a whole load of bashing?
|
The thread title would suggest so.
|
Franz Ferdinand- I just don't understand all the hype about them, I just them dull, boring, unimagnative, and not all that good at all..
|
Crossfade. All of my retarded redneck "friends" listen to them, and it's so obvious to see that this band engineered by a record label is precisely hitting its target audience. I don't even know if they came out with their album this year, but they're still around being dull as hell.
Agreed. Very well-worded. But at the same time I wouldn't just mention them, I would also unclude the dozen or so other Disturbed-ish bands that were already mentioned. As far at THE worst, I would just lump all of these "modern rock" bands into one, since, combined, they almost have as much creativity as some of the pop-punk bands mentioned. |
the killers
arcade fire Franz Ferdinand pussycat dolls |
anything by Mcfly!
and p ussy cat dolls |

Haha. |
I can't really figure out this whole hatred against Bloc Party, I remember a long time ago they were praised here at the forum, and then when they suddenly become a bit famous you can't stand them??
And about Arcade Fire, yeah, they're a bit overrated, still, Funeral is a decent album. There is MUCH worse bands out there in the Alt/indie genre. |
P. ussy Cat Dolls, hands down.
|
has everyone forgotten about Fall out boy?!??
|
Ooh, good point. I almost didn't think of them.
"Dont'cha wish your girlfriend was hot like me?" Kill me now.
Please don't, I have a terrible flashback whenever I hear that song. I was on holiday in Majorca with my friends when it happened. I was in a bar with one of my mates and this song came on. This fat whale of a girl proceeded to start 'dancing', there was flab hanging out everywhere, I nearly choked on my JD and coke. *shudders* |
50 cent
|
The Bravery are terrible and completely undeserving of their hype. Also Babyshambles are pretty bad.
|
To me, Hedley is the worst band I've heard this year.
|
eminem also sucks
|
There's this annoying, whiny band called Hedley. I think they're Canadian so you guys might not have heard them. My girlfriend asked me to take her to their show last night. YEAH RIGHT
Also: Hawthorne Hights The Bravery Bloc Party Hmm, I like a few songs by The Killers, and I like Kaiser Chiefs - Employment. |
Is that statement an OH SNAP because:
a) Radiohead didn't actually release anything this year, b) You're in the Alt/Indie section, or c) Radiohead > You
Its cause im in the alt/indie section, and i remember everyone here loving them. I dont actually dislike them, i said it just to be a d'ick.
The Killers = Alright band name The Bravery = The Killers + Post-Emo + 80's Dance Music = Bland + Unoriginal Disturbed = Overplayed, "dramatic!" mess of generica. Tell that man to STFU. And stop it with those screamy things at the beginning of all your songs. Breaking Benjamin = Not so great. "Cold" would be a million times better if it were an acoustic song. Their Halo 2 song is a guilty pleasure. Louis XIV = My vote.
Killers = AWFUL band name, imo I think you got the bravery down pretty good Disturbed= some of the corniest lyrics ever + weird constapated sounding growling singer = white trash Breaking Benjamin= Sounds like Disturbed, with a different singer. I havent heard the halo 2 song, but i hear its surprisingly good. |
Coheed & Cambria
Wrong. And the mars volta are still good for me. |
I think someone said 50 Cent.
I'd have to agree. The whole building a career off being shot 9 times thing seems a little over-done to me. And his book, movie, and video game. I saw a trailer for his video game, totally random. I remember seeing him hit some guy with a suitcase, and out of nowhere the suitcase blew up. |
All the bands that copy the Strokes and the Killers.
Arcade Fire Kaiser Chiefs Bloc Party The Bravery Death Cab For Cutie Nada Surf Franz Ferdinand Bright Eyes Louis XIV Depeche Mode (their new song is terrible) |
Kaiser Chiefs, hands down, followed by the Killers. Useless.
|
^^^In reality it's probably true, but the fact bands are copying the strokes is kinda ironic.
edit: (not upthebracket) |
I just love the technicality of Nickelback though, and how every song they do sounds completely different...I hope one day to be half as amazing as they are.
Oh and the Bravery are terrible too.
Sarcasm there me boy? |
^^^In reality it's probably true, but the fact bands are copying the strokes is kinda ironic.
edit: (not upthebracket)
They are basically riding on the Strokes' and Killers' fame. I know the Strokes and the Killers aren't original at all, but if it wasn't for them, then 90% of the other bands mentioned in this thread would still be playing in their mom's garage. |

I don't agree:thumb: I'd say bands like the Kaiser Chiefs are probably more influenced by Britpop whilst bands like Bloc Party are probably influenced by the likes Velvet Underground (Who isn't influenced by Velvet Underground). Alot of the bands mentioned were also formed before or at the same time as The Killers and the Strokes making their influence likely to be minimal. And even suggesting that bands like Arcade Fire are influenced by the strokes is just silly. |
trivium or shinedown
