(shrugs) I didn't really notice, nor did I really care. I really like the music from both eras. Both had their virtues. Good music is good music.
yeah i think i'm down with that. i do enjoy Project 1950's
Meh... Project 1950 has some good songs on it, but mostly left me cold. Of their new work, I liked American Phsycho the best.
the music on project 50's wasn't so hot. but i dug the concept and it's inspired me to rework some classic stuff
I personally could care less, i give glenn much respect for bieng the origional, and graves has a decent voice.
I liked the old Misfits for a lot of reasons. One of them being the period of my life when I discovered punk and self expression. I still like listening to old Misfits. What I have heard of the new Misfits I don't really like. Without Danzig (Even though I detest his cheesy solo ego-metal) the Misfits are "the shadow of the Misfits".
i like how graves is more melodic
Well, Danzig has a very ghoulish crooning voice. He sounds like he could be equally at home in a jazz band as a punk or metal group. The Elvis-impersonator accent also adds a little levity and gives his singing a sort of dark humor to it, even in his solo work which can get pretty heavy lyrically.
Graves has more of a 50's rocker howl. Like Danzig, he clearly draws influence from rockabilly and classic rock, but his voice is smoother, more lulling. He can still get a good rock 'n' roll voice going when he needs to, but his true strength is in his sustain and dynamics. So, to sum it up: -Danzig has a more aggressive voice, and is able to shift easily between clean and dirty vocals with a crooning tone that gives him a sort of classical, sinister sound. -Graves is like a classic rock singer who has a blues-inspired howl designed to milk as much feel out of each note as possible. I think they're both great in their own ways. |
*applauds*
The only songs with Graves that I like are Helena, Dig Up Her Bones, Scream, Scarecrow Man, Forbidden Zone, Saturday Night, and Fiend Club.
i like Descending Angel.
*cowers in fear* |
I forgot about that song, I like that one too.
Phew, i thought i'd get blasted, coz noone else seems to have mentioned it. I love it, the spooky "woooooohs" in the background definately cheese my biscuit
following that line of reasoning it would have been better for Iggy Pop not to have been born because if it wasn't for him there wouldn't be punk and thus there wouldn't be pop-punk. you can't blame people for who they influence
Very illogical argument. The Misifts gave birth to bands like Blink 182, slipknot, and slayer. Iggy, although indirectly gave birth to pop-punk, he did directly give birth to almost the entire punk scene. With Iggy, you take the good with the bad. With The Misfits, you take the bad with the crappy. |
i don't mind slayer myself, although i agree that the other two bands are terrible. There's got a to be a good band somewhere that is Misfits influenced...
I love the Misfits, they're one of my favourite bands.
Graves and Danzig are both awesome in my eyes. |

Slipknot also site Alice Cooper as an influence. Does that mean we should Hate Alice Cooper, too? It's silly to hate a band because of who they ended up influencing. As if they have any control over it. |
recently i started to play with my ps2 again, and i was finishing san andreas for like the 5th time. you know how they have radio stations, i think danzig was singing. was he?
I love the Misfits, they're one of my favourite bands.

your right imnot, danzig performs "mother" (his best song) on Radio X
Danzig has a couple good songs. Mother, Twist of Cain...and...well, I guess that's it.

Devil's Plaything, Not of This World, She Rides, How the Gods Kill... Maybe if people listened to something other than the radio singles. |
Then it would have been better for the misfits to not have existed.
maybe it would be better if you werent ****ing born you son of a bitch. even if the misfits werent around we would still have blink-182 being ****ty but maybe its the misfits influence from being even ****tier than they already are... and besides the misfits are for many countless number of kids their first stepping stone into punk rock. my first punk rock song ever was "we are 138" by the misfits when i was 12. the misfits not existing would have meant the denial of one punks best lead singers ever. |
When was Twist of Cain ever on the radio? Oh, I forgot the song Snakes of Christ. That's really good. I forgot about How the Gods Kill too, that's a good'n.

I thought it was made into a single. Could be wrong, though. At any rate, it's one of those songs practically everybody knows. I've known some people who think the first album is all he ever did. |
I think up to his 3rd album was good, pretty much anything after that sucked balls.
New Danzig is pretty cool.
I used to like this one song off of his 7th album, it kinda reminded me of The Beautiful People, but it didn't suck like The Beautiful People does.

Stfu you little ****. The Misfits brought nothing new to the punk scene except a slightly darker tone. Instead of talking about rebellion and the topics of great punk rock bands like The Sex Pistols, The Addicts, Clash, and Old Bad Religion music, they talked about blood, zombies, and killing. In my opinion, they shouldn't even be classified as Punk Rock, considering Punk Rock started off as music to get away from the mainstream, talking about rebellion and fighting the system. Not about zombies, blood, and killing people. |
AntiFlagSetsFire...hmm...I wonder what bands he likes? He probably listens to new Anti Flag and Boy Sets Fire. LAME.
