I wanna punch the singer though, he looks like a dork. The lead axe-man has some badarse hair.

My Chemical Romance... and yes... The Killers. *runs*
these are bands that people in Alt/Indie tend not to like (but some do of course) and I enjoy anyway:

Iron Maiden
Metallica
System of a Down
Tool
The Mars Volta
Mudvayne (first album)
Primus
Coheed and Cambria

and I have every Green Day album from Kerplunk! to Nimrod (that's four). :( :( :(
Pfft, who cares if they're not indie? Not everything you listen to has to fit under that.
you'll have something to be embarassed about soon "metallica69"
Watch out, he's cooler than you

it's not that, but lots of people rag on them in any forum, so I'm not so much embarassed to like them but I do have to defend them a lot.

DomtarOpaque 10-06-2005 02:22 AM
they're not emo at all, they're just pop-punk.

i dont really like them but i can tell they're not the worst offenders. they have a song with a guitar solo in it!
EDIT: sry i fogrot to exclude green day, i dont like em

Astroboy 10-06-2005 09:53 PM

Ahem.

Foo Fighters.

There. I said it.

The Colour and the Shape was okay, I guess. But I'm embarassed because of the crap that they've put out since then. Really.

homeonice 10-07-2005 12:03 AM

I only get embaressed when someone asks what i like, someone who likes simple plan or some other emo crap... And i reply with Neutral Milk Hotel or Arcade Fire. Theyre like; wha wha wha! whats that, neutral mobile , fire ? what... \

Actually; sometimes when i like a record, and then i hear it with someone else listening - everything changes. Like with the fiery furnaces - when i har it alone its amazing. but with other peoples it sucks...

Interstate 10-07-2005 07:59 AM

I'm not really embarassed about any of the bands I listen to.

radianteclipse 10-07-2005 02:42 PM

I am not really embarassed by anything I own, because I will usually let people know anyways. I'm not really ashamed. I own both Michelle Branch records, a Natalie Imbruglia album, and I do have the Gwen Stefani album...though I don't really enjoy it much.

corporalclegg 10-07-2005 08:19 PM

If I listened to Weezer, I'd be embarassed.

He lost the 'knife to the groin' factor a lot on the new album [Burning Star IV].

I like Dashboard, I own all of his (their) albums. I like the first TBS album. I like the one MCR song I've heard.

what what

G-Un0t 10-08-2005 02:04 PM

Fall Out Boy
Rap in general.
I liked that MCR video with the war scene, and the song was mediocre. All I've heard of them I think.

EonBlueApcolyps 10-08-2005 02:13 PM

Marylin Manson
Finch (a little)
Coheed and Cambria

Judging from your name and the other posts you've made, I'd say you have the worst taste of any black person. Or at least the most baffling.

oh sure you'll listen to stupid 80's college rock music with a gay BRITISH frontman but as soon as someone from Athens, Georgia shows up with the same idea you're like "nuh-uh you get outta here Michael Stipe!"

Hey now I actually like REM but I needed to justify the fact that I own a Taking Back Sunday album somehow.

but hey I laughed.

Most of my friends have been making fun of me for the past few days for listening to against me!. The rest of my friends went to the against me! concert a week or so ago.
Most of my friends have been making fun of me for the past few days for listening to against me!. The rest of my friends went to the against me! concert a week or so ago.
Yeah I had a friend who gave me the :-/ look when I told him that Tool was a good band, but I knew if he gave Undertow a try he would probably like it because that's more his thing than he knew.

But you can't push Tool on anyone or you'll be a fanboy, and we already had one of those at our school who repelled a lot of people from ever trying to listen to them. So he found Undertow on his own and now they are on good terms :)

asdf 10-08-2005 10:36 PM

The thing about my friends making fun of me for listening to against me! is that they also know that I listen to a lot of other good music. Infact, one of my friends decided one day that she wanted to get into good music with the help of me. So I've given her 20 or so CD's over the past month and she's loved every single one of them. I rock at recomending music.

But everyone has those bands that just don't seem to fit in with the rest of the good music.

By the way, there's nothing wrong with Tool. For awhile I liked them, and still listen to them sometimes.

Bass players who learn the riffs to "Schism," "46 and 2," and "Disposition" are happy bass players :)

JohnXDoesn't 10-08-2005 10:53 PM

Everclear. I really like them quite a lot. I first saw them 10 years ago at a record store performance and they just blew me away. I like literally like everything they have done. They veered into pop and I think that made some think they were a lightweight band. And then Art Alexakis (singer/songwriter/guitarist/producer) had a solo album he was going to make of pop songs, but made it an Everclear album instead. That didn't help things, and I'm not sure if their image ever fully recovered. And their last album with the original line up was hit and miss. But the songwriting was always really good, and Art tackled some heavy themes without letting it get weighed down. Good live band, too. But because they had a number of songs about families, f-up's, Art's childhood, relationships, and fatherhood, they somehow got a bit of a reputation as a kiddie band, of sorts. I went to a gig in Orange County and literally hundreds of 11 and 12 year olds showed up. Mostly girls because Art wrote some songs for and about his daughter. And he would have them come onstage and dance, and it was just good fun for them. Then I saw Art solo in Hollywood with just him and his guitar and figured it would be all serious music people showing up to hear the songwriter. Nope. Dozens and dozens of 11 and 12 year old girls turned up as well. And this guy is a near 40 year old who sings about the hard life to quite an extent. Some father figure.

But anyway, yeah. Everclear. A good band with a slushy rep. But I love them still.
