Mogwai = Mog-why.
It's like in Gremlins, it's a Japanese word that means "ghost". |
Mogwai = Mog-why.
It's like in Gremlins, it's a Japanese word that means "ghost".
It's Chinese, the word is "móguài" or 魔怪. |
pixiesfanyo is soooooo good at pronouncing things.
erlend oye
Am I right in thinking he's Norwegian? |
Am I right in thinking he's Norwegian?
yes you are |
erlend oye
Ay-lend oü would be my guess, with the "ay" being like in "way" and and the ü being like that of a French u (an ee with rounded lips). |
It's Chinese, the word is "móguài" or 魔怪.
True story, I always get the two confused. |

It's actually Er-lend believe it or not. |

you are so wrong it hurts erlend øye - i think his name is somewhat unpronouncable to you guys. |
I am pretty sure it is pronounced oy-e-ay. I know that his first name is pronounced er-lend.
|
i am norwegian.
the first e is pronounced like a Norwegian "Æ" which is halfway between an a and an e so its Ærlend. Øye - the Ø is between an o and an e. Øie |
well thanks for clearing that up, but what do those actually sound like. you should post a audio clip. I just know when Eirik was talking to him at the KoC concert he was calling him Er-lend. :)
|
b-york
I think I read that it actually sounds more like "B-yerk" in the proper accent. But that's how Americans pronounce it, and nobody makes fun of us. |
you are so wrong it hurts
erlend øye - i think his name is somewhat unpronouncable to you guys.
That's why I said it was a guess. One Swedish guy I knew (I know, not exactly Norwegian, but still) said that 'rl' isn't really pronounced like that, but more like a retroflex l. And the guy put o instead of ø, which completely changes everything. |
sufjan stevens
is soof-jan or suff-jan? |
^Soof-yan
|
seegoor rose
Wrong. See-ur Roce, and make sure to roll the R, like a Spanish rr. Roce is like race, but with an O. |

nope, it's si-ur. The i is like the i in "with". |
nope, it's si-ur. The i is like the i in "with".
That's pretty much the same. |
That's pretty much the same.
oh is it? I thought you meant see-ur with the i sounding like the e's in "sleep". Sorry if I misunderstood. If that is what you meant though, they're different ya hooker. |
