Basically any preppy, predominantly caucasian school with kids who are smart and not brainy.

Broken Arrow 10-05-2005 08:22 AM
That reminds me that I still need the Band's self-titled. I have the Last Waltz on DVD, and it rules a lot.
Have you watched the extras where there is that jam after and everybody is just sitting around playing and then there's Neil Young all coked up jump around and playing random notes? I like that part.

Daniel! 10-05-2005 05:26 PM

I remember watching that. It was pretty cool.

What a character. They show that on TV here all the time.

I should watch that sometime.

Simple Man 10-05-2005 07:01 PM

Wow, I didn't even see this thread.

Sup guys.

Broken Arrow 10-06-2005 02:24 PM

Sup Simple Man.

Whats with the forum? It's like under consturction.

EDIT-Neermind :(

Anyways on the Last Waltz the Jam is Clapton(sitting on amps), Ringo Starr, Neil(going nuts) and like a roadie playing bass.

I really have no idea what was wrong with it, I haven't had too much time to go over there.

Broken Arrow 10-08-2005 07:34 PM

It said the sever was down but its working again.

magicbus 10-08-2005 10:54 PM
Maybe they just misspelled The Banned or something. Kids these days and spelling.
No, it's definently "The Band".

And these lyrics:
To get back to Miss Fanny, you know she's the only one.
Who sent me here with her regards for everyone.
cleary show that they're saying "Take a load off Fanny" in the chorus.

AndreTheHyena 10-08-2005 11:34 PM

It's "Fanny". How can you kids not know the Band? They were Bob Dylan's backing band for a long time, and Big Pink is a classic.

Anyhow, sup Other Community Thread.

Broken Arrow 10-09-2005 09:37 AM

Their s/t is also a classic.

IAJP 10-09-2005 09:54 AM

I post in Other Music quite a bit, so yeah, how are y'all?

Probably because they were known as the Hawks when they were with Bobby, why'd they change names anyway?

magicbus 10-09-2005 03:39 PM

When they were touring with Dylan, and probably at Woodstock, people began to refer to them as "The Band". I guess something like "have you seen the band that's with Dylan?". And then it just stuck.

Happymeal 10-09-2005 03:52 PM

Hm, I'm thinking of starting my own Zorn collection sometime soon.

Daniel! 10-09-2005 03:53 PM
Hm, I'm thinking of starting my own Zorn collection sometime soon.
How extensive is his discography? Like 10 albums or 100 albums?

Happymeal 10-09-2005 04:02 PM

There's probably more than a hundred, considering his countless collabs with all those other weird people.

Daniel! 10-09-2005 04:04 PM

Good luck.

AndreTheHyena 10-10-2005 01:07 AM

This is a shameless plug for a homeboy of mine, but he's put some of his recorded music up on myspace, and if you're into quiet folk singer-songwriter stuff, a la Iron and Wine or Nick Drake, you may wanna check it out...

Nice choice

The Sax on that song is amazing.

Broken Arrow 10-11-2005 05:44 PM

I love this whole album.

I prefer in to Mr. Fantasy.

magicbus 10-14-2005 06:50 PM

I enjoy the band Traffic. John Barleycorn is a cool album.
