Apart from a disturbing image of Thom Yorke singing while someone gets raped...

I finally devastated my old Schecter. I now need to buy a new guitar since I don't want the crappy $150 Ibanez to be my primary guitar. What's a good intermediate-professional rythm guitar (for the most part) for someone that plays (in order of increasing heaviness) Porcupine Tree, Opeth, Megadeth and Nevermore? I don't need a tremolo etc.

On a happier note, let's talk about surprises.

The Schecter c-1 classic is hott. It has totally sweet Seymour Duncan pickups, and is quite reasonably priced. ..used/ebay for $400-500.

Yea, I'm only looking at a budget of about 450-500 USD.
The Schecter looks gorgeous. I was hoping there was a PRS that, for reasons unknown, suddenly pops up magically.

It sounds/plays as good as it looks.

If you want a PRS, steal DFelon's.

ATC 08-02-2005 02:25 PM

You'll have to help me. Your feminine wiles and susceptibility to amputee **** should distract him while I sneak in and steal his guitar. You're welcome to raid his place for anything else that might be valuable.
:chug:

PS: I hope you've got fetishwear. Robbers and thieves need to be outfitted right.

Disco Dragon 08-02-2005 03:25 PM

If you're looking for a cheap but good PRS, then pick up a Tremonti or Tremonti SE model. Has great sound, and is very reasonably priced.

RunAmokRampant 08-02-2005 09:45 PM

hey addicted_tochaos you should get an ESP. I have a ESP ltd Viper 400 that I bought for like $1300 Australian and it is a heavy metal guitar. Most of my favourite guitarists have ESP's and Mustaine uses one too. So yeah they're good value for money IMO

k.s.e. 08-02-2005 11:14 PM

DFelon plays a PRS? that spoiled s.lut.

k.s.e. 08-02-2005 11:16 PM

I was going to get a Schecter c-1 + but i got the ESP/LTD Eclipse deluxe instead.. dual EMG 81s

all I can say is nice. :smoke: Eclipses are the expensive ones besides the signature models right? I have EMG 81/85 on my viper

k.s.e. 08-03-2005 02:55 AM

the Les Paul single cut away looking ones. that guitar is my baby.. made so many tacos for it...

SubtleDagger 08-03-2005 04:41 AM

I use an Ibanez Destroyer.

Disco Dragon 08-03-2005 10:36 AM

It's true. His PRS looks like a poopsicle next to your Klondike Bar of a Les Paul.

ATC 08-03-2005 12:23 PM

I think I'll go for a Schecter (either the Hellraiser that Loomis plays or a C-1 Classic with the vine of life inlay). ESP doesn't suit the Celticky nature of some of my own music. Les Paul's too expensive and I never liked it anyway. Thanks for all the input.

PRS gets made in Korea, Dfelon and Super D? I'm a little lost here.

I believe their less pricey lines are Korean made.

Just like how American Fender basses are $1,000+, while the made in Mexico ones are more like $400.

If you get the C1 classic, would you go with the dark brown finish, the blue, the sunburst, or the natural???

Decisions, decisions.

k.s.e. 08-03-2005 02:42 PM

no dfelon.. look at my sexy picture on my sexy myspace again and you will be sexified. the les paul is actually the ESP. you can see "ESP" on the head stock... and because of your obvious high class and social stature i assumed your PRS was a 5 thousand dollar American.

my friend is a douchebag, and is awesome for it. I bought an Ibanez RG and a Crate GX15 off of him for a grand total of $100

EDIT: but that amp sucked so I went out and bought an Ibanez Tone Blaster 100R

k.s.e. 08-04-2005 04:38 AM

Which RG? there are RGs out there that are like 80bucks.. and that crate amp is worth around 65 pesos.

RunAmokRampant 08-04-2005 06:14 AM

I'm not particulary fussed with Ibanez although that Iceman one looks pretty sleek

I think its a 3120F. He paid like $450 for it.

A_Perfect_Sonnet 08-04-2005 10:16 PM

Is your Destroyer still completely stock? Or did you change out the pickups?

CSD & the Soul Machines 08-05-2005 07:35 PM

Subtle-I have the Mini-destroyer and I hate the crap out of it. I also have a Schecter C-1+ and I love it. Plays like a dream.

SubtleDagger 08-06-2005 06:29 AM
Is your Destroyer still completely stock? Or did you change out the pickups?
It's used. They might be the same, but I adjusted them anyway. Way too far from the strings.

pixiesfanyo 08-06-2005 09:11 AM

I don't believe in pickups.

Is it only me who finds the noob's who one line about 10 songs in a row annoying.

It just ends up bumping songs off the first page in no time, if they were doing a decent crit on each peice i wouldn't mind so much. But grrr

/rant over

RunAmokRampant 08-08-2005 05:48 AM

that's why I don't post lyrics in there much. When you use the 'crit 4 crit' term, only critique people you know are going to return a decent response to your poem/lyric. That's the only advice I can give you because this is a internet forum full of people who don't know what they're doing so it should be expected so yeah no point being angry over something you can't do anything to help.

Dancin' Man 08-08-2005 12:51 PM

Just to pop in... I've got a Jackson DKMGTX (DKMGT without a trem) and it's great. granted, it has replaced pickups (Seymour Duncans. Alnico 5 bridge and Custom 5 neck). I got it used on ebay for $350 and there is nothing wrong it it. At all. Plus Jackson's have perfect necks.

Burt - I dig the guitar. I want one that looks cool. Sound is secondary.
