haha, it's aight, Verbal Abuse ripped shit up, as did Poison Idea, although music-wise the band was great, but the singer was real sloppy on the vocals, i had really been hoping to sing along to most of the set, but with such sloppy vocals, only a few good singalongs happened. oh well, all in all a great night. :thumb:

oh and i just got home from a show, and picked up some cds, not gonna post em in the record nerd thing, btu we might aswell at least mention any new buys...

Grave Robbers - Hell to Pay CD
Ten Crowns - Traitors and Martyrs CD

Berserker! 07-26-2005 03:39 PM

Me: Dad, can I get a record player so I can buy vinyl, it's cheaper, they're nicer to look at and can become very valuable.
Dad: Records are an obsolete thing of the past, you nerd.

That's parents for you

Culture Shock 07-26-2005 06:06 PM

I saw it when ye first posted yer list, but what do ye want for that Annihilation Time LP?

maco 07-27-2005 09:10 PM
it's not that hard to get LPs on yer PC. one way i know is using a cable that ye can pick up at radioshack, which hooks up form yer record player to yer pc and ye can just record from the vinyl, how do ye think some vinyl-only albums are on slsk.
That suggests that we have record players that were made after the invention of the PC. Considering I have one that doesn't use the word "volume" but instead says "loudness," I really doubt it'll work on mine. I actually didn't know until last year that record players were still being made. A teacher wanted some stuff converted and one of the kids was like "Oh you just hook it up." I was like "Don't you need a microphone?" and he said "No there's a just a cable for the computer." I was like "If computers didn't exist back when record players were around, how did they know to make a jack for a computer cable?"

And I know the way some of AFI's vinyl-onlies get on there is because they put them on compilations instead of putting their regular songs on.

correction, it's an RCA-to-PC cable, that means it connects to the Aux connection on your record player/amplifier to your PC, the record player can be really old, but as long as it connects using RCA cables, it'll work.

Culture Shock 07-27-2005 10:47 PM
RCA-to-PC cable
how much do these run for

mine's old enough that instead of plugging speakers into it, you plug it into the speakers. there is no place on the record player that anything can be plugged in. it's an all-male record player.

I was looking for a link to one, but I can't remember where I saw one online before, but I'm pretty sure RadioShack carries 'em, and if I remember right, they go for about $15.

Well than for ye, ye got two options for dubbing vinyls, to my knowledge:
1) Resort to using a computer microphone set-up to record off of your vinyl, although the quality is gonna be shit, unless ye figure out a great set-up.

2) Ye buy a new stereo system which is capable of using the cable.

I'd recommend ye go with the second choice, unless ye honestly don't care, than just don't bother with the latter.
Hmmm, I'm not sure.
If nothing on my list interests ye, I'll buy it off ye, just lemme know how much.

Aight, yea, I'm positive Radioshack carries 'em, and I had seen it on their site once, but I couldn't find it when I checked again. Though if ye just ask for an RCA-to-PC cable, I'm sure they'd figure out which ye need.

I should be getting payed well by the end of next week, so hopefully I'm going to mailorder some shit. :naughty:

Sid Ramone 08-07-2005 02:55 AM

okay, added to my list are:

The Horrorpops - "Hell Yeah!"
Blanks 77 - "Killer Blanks"
