I left my first band because the singer and bassist were doing some acoustic stuff together and we kinda just went our seperate ways after our first couple of shows. We weren't any good anyways.
Then I started another band with a really good guitarist and this guy who could scream forever..and never get tired. We practiced a couple of times and got a song or two down, and even made a sloppy home recording, but I left that band to join my next band.
This band, the one I'm currently in and two others, is doing well. We're pretty popular around the area. Playing shows about 2 times a month, sometimes more. But right now we're having problems with our singer. He's got a big head, and a girlfriend who won't leave us the **** alone when we have things to do, and he's starting to be a dick when it comes to writing music. We wrote 9 original songs, and he's unhappy with a majority of them.
I'm also in 2 other bands. One is a band who has been around for a while, needed a drummer to fill in, and I ended up staying in. They're very well known around the area and I've been good friends with the members for a long time. We're low on activity though. Hopefully something will revitalize us soon.
And the 3rd one is a br00tal *** grindcore band. No probelms here. :)

We got back together yesterday, but mainly because of differences in what genre members wantedto play:

I wanted to do power metal
One guitarist wanted to do metalcore
Other guitarist wanted to do prog metal
Bassist wanted to do something more funky (he isn't in at all anymore)
Drummer wanted to do black metal

We've basically decided on melodic death metal as of yesterday :D.

Excellent choice.

I left my band 'cause it split up. Ok so I didn't exactly leave.

Yeah, I still kinda want some more of a power metally twist, and I was talking to Kevin and Eddie yesterday (the guitarists) and they were totally down for it, the stuff we wrote yesterday is like a thrashier version of In Flames' Whoracle era stuff, but with more Black Dahlia Murder-esque vocals (I just can't stand staying monotonal).

Sh*t, I'm about to leave my own F*cking band if this sh*t keeps up...I'll fire myself......

I left one band simply because I was helping them out on vocals and I don't like doing just vocals. In my main project which has be going strong for six years now, I play guitar and do vocals. I just feel naked up on stage without a guitar so I left after one show. They also wanted me to change my image. They wanted me to cut my hair and where preppy cloths on stage. I just thought that it would be in my best interest to leave.
My friends had a "band" last year which i was supposedly in as rhythm guitarist. The lead had been playing for 2 years and i was already better than him, the bassist and drummer had no instruments and the vocalist changed every week. Once i found out i was in this band i quit.
Sup old post.

I'm now in a band with the Bassist of this band I left

Heh, I don't like doing anything but vocals anymore... I guess guitar, but I just love being free to move around with the mic, you know?

Another thing that annoys me is people who reckon jam sessions are a waste of time.

Anybody who says that is an idiot... if you try to write without jamming everything comes out waaay to formulated.

I left two bands because I didn't want to tour and liked the studio more.
I left another because I'd rather take things in a melodic direction and thus creative differences. Right now, I work with a variety of female vocalists on adult alternative/trip-hop music and I'm happy.

BloodOnTheScript 04-06-2006 12:42 PM

I left my band because of drug use, our singer started doing cocaine and he was forgetting words to the songs so I decided to leave.

Man... weird...

me and my guitar player write awesome songs after we get high.

also the first time he took aderrol (sp?) he wrote an awesome song.. he called me a few weeks ago really late and was like "dude, i took adderol for the first time earlier tonight... i'm ****in wide awake and i havent put my guitar down in hours" - he was speedin his balls off, and the song shows it.

maybe more guitar players should take adderol..

no dedication to the band (other members. not me) So I was like screw it. as good as you are (to the guitarist. he is pretty much a child prodigy lol.) I was like you really have no respect for the band. I'm out.

im in a melodic/death/punkish metal band at the moment... i play rythym guitar, and the songs are quite hard to play. Im fine for the moment and am so busy with school, and im starting to think longterm. If im this busy next year i'll quit so I dont hold anyone back. But we recorded many of our songs last week and they sounded GREAT so im not really in the mood to leave right now.

Well basically with my band what happened was it just started off as me and my two other friends who played guitar, and another friend who was drummer. Firstly, our drummer wasn't enthusiastic enough as he was in another band, so we both agree'd he had to go. And hence, our knew drummer came into existence;). But the problem was we still had 3 guitarists. And the third one (the one who came after me and my friend who started it off) didn't wanna play bass. And time moved on we got really into it, but we decided that we could definetly not have 3 guitarists. So horibly, we started having band practises without him and without telling him. We then got a proper bassist and scheduled our first gig. By now we couldn't take the guilt especially when he said "so when are we having another practise", so i did tell him, he said it didn't matter but you could tell he was hurt on the inside. I now hate myself forever as a result. however my band rocks my life and we're recording next week so that = pwnage.
