Those new rock basses are anus
Those new rock basses are anus
to me, Rockbass equals cockbass full stop.

Led_Zeppelin678 09-16-2005 12:42 AM

I tried a flame maple (natural) that was a special edition or something, and the action was actually really good. Didn't bother plugging it in, though.

Chris K 09-16-2005 03:49 AM

And without the plug in test, we will never know the actual quality!

d-1 09-18-2005 08:11 AM

They're not going to catch on fire or anything, but MEC kinda blows. How about switching to DiMarzio, or at least Seymour Duncan?
Instead of just saying "MEC blows", care to explain what it is you don't like about them?

Chris K 10-10-2005 03:48 PM
Instead of just saying "MEC blows", care to explain what it is you don't like about them?
people are always bashing MEC, I like them!

LewsTherin 10-10-2005 04:27 PM
people are always bashing MEC, I like them!
thats makes 3 of us then (me, you, and worrpigs).

Id still like to know why people hate them so much.
but MEC kinda blows
wtf? what do you mean "blows"? like totaly fckin blows like a speaker, or totaly fckin sucks?

Alma 10-13-2005 06:09 AM

^ that they aren't very good...

twopelu 10-13-2005 08:22 AM

^ I think so... I would change mines.

Led_Zeppelin678 10-13-2005 08:31 AM

I'd like to get another brand of pickups for two reasons:

Hum cancelling.
Better tone.

wardrobe malfunction 10-13-2005 09:45 AM

I have the 5 string Model and highly recommend it. It's a fantastic instrument.

bassmancrv 10-18-2005 07:45 PM

ive got the 4 string one.. and i dunno i personally love mecs.. there great

warwicks are definatly the best bass out there IMO and someone a while back said vettes are expensive.. you can get a used one for like $600.. for the quality these things offer.. its DEFINATLY worth it.. i would pay over 1000 for mine.. im in love with it

Rawb 10-18-2005 11:47 PM

i am two gigs and $150 away from getting one of these. i can't wait.

so the mec blows, i think a sans amp would help. maybe not totaly fix the problem, but it would help a bit.

Led_Zeppelin678 10-20-2005 01:53 PM

I'm putting some Seymour Duncan Hot Jazz pups (passive with high output) in my baby ASAP, probably for Christmas or something.

Just thought I'd let everyone know.

Worrpigs 10-20-2005 02:44 PM

i dont know why whenever someone brings up warwick, everybody has to be a dick and say oh MEC blows. and i love how nobody justifies their reasoning.

Machines 10-20-2005 03:43 PM

I've never played a Warwick and been anything other than overwhelmed.

Chris K 10-20-2005 04:39 PM
I've never played a Warwick and been anything other than overwhelmed.
So I take it you like them?

1st one I can definately see. But care to explain whats wrong with MEC's tone? Too much bass? Not enough? Lacking in lower midrange?

Im with Chris K, Im sick of the unjustified MEC bashing.

I'll do an A/B recording when I get them, and we'll see which is better.

tone is completly subjective - if you dont like how they sound, there may not be one specific reason that you dont like - you just dont like them, and so i do not feel there has to be a reason why i dont like their tone, i just dont, and i want to put in some barts, ones which i do like the tone of

ziGGy-real 10-22-2005 04:51 AM

so should i get this bass?

Led_Zeppelin678 10-22-2005 09:56 AM

If you like Warwicks. It's kind of a love/hate thing, I guess.

you mean your with me. chris k didnt say that.

gronk 10-25-2005 09:48 PM

I'm considering getting a Corvette with custom paint, F clef fret inlays, gold hardware and possibly different pickups. Has anyone on here ordered a custom Warwick? How long does it usually take to get it once you order it?

Also, does the Corvette Proline sound any different to the Corvette? I'm not sure if the difference in bubinga and flame maple would be that big. If they're hardly different, I'll just order a Proline with the inlays and possibly pickups.

If you're going to color bubinga, then just get the proline. It's still a great bass, just different.
