I find In Absentia to be pretty dark. At the beginning not so much, but it seems to get progressively darker, and the lyrical themes are pretty dark as well. That album has some of my favorite lyrics ever.

I really love the lyrics on "Blackest Eyes" and "Heartattack in a lay by" Especially on the 2nd one. Not too much but very very vivid...and the vocal harmony part at the end "Well grow old, together"...god its beautiful |

Don't start with Deadwing. Try and find Lightbulb Sun or In Absentia. |

Yeah, I've been listening to In Absentia and Deadwing alot. While its common knowledge amoung pt fans that IA is about the life of a serial killer (Fred West). However, not ALL the songs deal with this theme. Some of these songs are Sound of Muzak, Pridigal, .3, Trains, Gravity Eyelids (SW said its about an evening at the Dead Sea ("let the salt flow...), and Lips of Ashes.
Does anyone here have any clue what Lips of Ashes is about. SW said there's a story behind that song. I was thinking its about either IV drugs or a failed relationship. Any ideas?? peace. |
I have recently gotten into them, Im gonna pick up Deadwing soon.
