Who cares about simplicity, all I care is if I can tap my foot and listen to good, it doesn't have to be a monster riff for me to like them...that's just like not liking Smoke On The Water because an imbred monkey can play it. Who cares. They're a good overall band with a lot of good/catchy tunes.

HOW DO ALL AC/DC SONGS SOUND THE SAME PLAY ME A FEW SECONDS OF ANY AC/DC SONG AND I'LL TELL YOU WHAT IT IS. THEREFORE THEY DON'T ALL SOUND THE SAME.

AC/DC rock, nuff said. Some (only in the small minoriy) of their songs do sound similar though, but then again that applies to alot of bands.

AC/DC is the best band ever!!!!!!!!!!!! I love them to death!!!!!! Angus is amazing and Malcom kicks ***, and there probably one of the greatist live bands ever!!!

Angus does the most talented solos. Listen to Whole Lotta Rosie from the Let There Be Rock album.

I'm an AC/DC-Fan for a long time, got all their albums (including Bonfire) and saw them live twice.
The Albums: You have to agree with me, the albums with Bon Scott were much better than the new stuff. You have to see "how" AC/DC lived to understand their first albums... I remember this one example:
"When I joined AC/DC, my wife asked me to write a song about her. So I wrote "She's got balls". Then she divorced me." (Bon Scott) It's much more than the music, it's their way of life, that makes the first albums so special. At this time, AC/DC didn't play music, they live music.
Listen to the albums from the 80s with Johnson... :confused: There's nothin' good on it and in the 90s they weren't pretty good either. It sounded like AC/DC is tryin not to go under. But "Stiff upper Lip" was (surprisingly) a really good album and AC/DC found their old "Kick" again. Listen to songs like "Meltdown".

Live: As I said at the beginning, I saw AC/DC twice. And live they DO kick ***. It's f*ckin' awesome! I've also seen Metallica and the Stones and both weren't as good as AC/DC was.... and I saw AC/DC in 2001 and 2003. For me, they are the best live band I can imagine. Angus and Brian "control" the crowd.

Who cares, if the songs sound the same ? They kick ***, that's what matters ! :thumb:

I'm a huge fan of AC/DC

Some people think that AC/DC compose relativley simple songs therefore they are not great musicians. Well i feel that AC/DC were able to capture the simplicity and Rawness that is "Rock n Roll" and make it into music that is fantastic work despite the simplcity. You take a band like 'The beatles' who didnt write very technically demanding songs. Yet, they are still considered the greatest band off all time. AC/DC doesnt get the recognition that they deserve because they created music that wasn't embraced by the critics because of its Rawness and toughness. Combine the instrumental work with the awesome vocals and clever lyrics of Bon Scott and to a lesser extent Brian Johnson, and it leaves simply one of the greatest rock bands ever

i went through a phase where i was the hugest AC/DC fan a few years ago. i had a good many of their albums (i think Fly on the Wall was one of the few i didn't have)

i don't really listen to them anymore though, i've kinda moved out of that genre and more into more artistic music. They are great for a good time though, and their songs are catchy. I know people accuse them of writing the same song over and over, but obviously they found a forumula that works for them, and they didn't let musical fads get in their way of creating good rock and roll.

i liked bon scott a lot more, both the music they made with him, and his singing. Angus Young made me pick up the guitar for the first time, although soon after i kinda moved away from AC/DC and more into Hendrix and Floyd.

EVERY SONG SOUNDS THE SAME AND IT GETS BORING !!!!!! but they have some good songs tho.

AC/DC did it short and simple, but rocked harder than most. They did there style the best. AC/DC rocks.

How many people here have actually listened to more than 8 or so songs?
They have about 130 different songs (and probably some that I havn't found yet). Yes there are some songs that sound pretty much identical like Back Seat Confidential and Beating Around The Bush which have exactly the same intro riff. Dirty Eyes and Whole Lotta Rosie are really similar as well.
But other than 3 maybe 4 pairs thats it. That leaves about 120 other songs.

On another note, ACDC do have the best driving music hands down. The most obvious being Highway To Hell. It's great when your on a long journey.

I don't know how people can say their songs suck. Anyone who saw them live wouldn't say that. I did, it was incredible, it was the gigantic day-long concert in toronto (That by-the-way beat woodstock for the world record for largerst out-door ticketed event) The rolling stones were supposed to be the BIG attraction, but before them was ac/dc. The completly stole the show, they were incredible, after AC/DC people were so wiped they just started leaving. In fact my avatar is a picture from the Toronto concert.

And I also can't stand these people that consider a good solo anything that has 1,000,000 notes crammed into 5 seconds even though it sounds like ****. Just because it complicated, doesn't mean its good. Angus writes solo's that fit the songs, thats what makes a good solo.

Same here. I still listen to Back In Black on occasion, but I'm not half the AC/DC fan I used to be.

How can you not laugh at that. They didnt set out to be the best musicians ever, they set out to be a rock n roll band and did a pretty **** good job at it. It isnt that there not skilled, they can probabbly play Van Halen really well, They just rely on music theory and melody more then there instruments.

Those of you who are being critics have proabbly only heard the stuff off of Tony Hawk four.

I really dont know what I'm saying any more because I stayed up to 4 in the moring last night and woke up at 7.

AC/DC is my definition of the quintessential hard rock band. They give it all they've got. Most of their stuffs tongue-in-cheek and it's actually pretty funny. Angus is a little bit overrated but I mean he still kicks a.s.s., he also gives it feeling which adds to the playing. Also, they still continue to tour, which I find amazing. So all in all, I love AC/DC (don't get me wrong, I love other bands such as Dream Theater and Shadows Fall, but in my opinion AC/DC is "the" rock n' roll band)

This is so awsome to look at all these threads and all these ac/dc lovers defending rock n roll. I have one thing too say... people say they are repetitive and simple blah blah? Well once you have been in a band 30 years... gone through the death of your singer, had the 6th top selling album in the world and are still producing music then you can talk. But most people dont understand how hard it is to produce completley different songs spread out over atleast 20 albums...there are only so many frets on a guitar and drum beats and lyrics you can write... if you looked at most songs they would be similar because there are only so many chords ect. I beileve they are one of the best bands in the world, the talent is great, but mostly they love rock n roll and put on a good show. Over-raited? they are anything but.
