Hey Kith, could you put up some information on Selecter? I heard 'On My Radio' and quite like it, but I was wondering about albums/other good songs etc.

i.FlarE 06-13-2004 07:07 PM

I want to find more Capdown stuff...Great band from what I've heard but I've only been able to get my hands on 5 songs so far and you can't buy their stuff over here.

skankinbassplayer 06-13-2004 07:14 PM

I just saw Arrogant Sons Of Bitches w/ The Know How this past friday...it was a really good show...Kith you were right about them being a good live band...uhh...me and my friends were talking to the keyboardist...he is the greatest he is so funny...He told me that he is recording a new cd and the producer is the bassist of Big D and The Kids Table...anyway overall it was really good The Know How put on a good show with beach balls and lots and lots of silly string....

Kithkin 07-14-2004 10:20 PM

Bump cause this is a nifty thread (and I need to reference it in the next few days and don't want to bookmark it or search for it)

Kithkin 07-15-2004 01:26 AM

Hmmm, the site I was going to post the in depth profiles is down for a bit, so I will post them here for now.

Bio:

One of the few political 3rd wave ska bands, Against All Authority (or AAA) is a ska-core band that really preforms well. They are from the DIY scene in Florida but now regularly tour the US due to their popularity. They are often compared to Choking Victem or Leftover Crack. They have done splits with Less Than Jake and Pist.

which site was that then Kith? ;) thanks man

btw it's back up now

CommieCanada 07-16-2004 07:02 PM

Kithkin, i <3 you and your ska-ness

Dir en X 07-16-2004 10:26 PM

Have you guys forgot about Streetlight Manifesto? Either that or you haven't heard them. They formed from ex-members of Catch-22 and One Cool Guy and that are the tightest ska band I have ever heard. Their music is more hardcore than most bands, but thier album Everything Went Numb is definately worth buying/copying/downloading/stealing/getting.

Johnny EPHC 07-17-2004 03:10 AM

Kithkin, you should start your own website about ska.

TheSyndicate 07-17-2004 03:12 AM

TheSyndicate 07-17-2004 03:13 AM

the-UK-ska-scene 07-18-2004 06:29 AM

<--- big Madness/two tone fan

ahh I just got in my mail the book with Madness sheet music in it! I love playing their songs.

gsr190 07-27-2004 12:26 PM

The Hot Knives are a great 2nd-3rd(not sure) band. I haven't found a website for them, but they're from Bristol. The only album I know of is "Screams, Dreams, and Custard Creams."

WorkingClassHero 07-27-2004 01:46 PM

I wish someone would start their own website about ska, theres nothing anywhere.

Anyone know these bands?
Isaac Green and the Skalars?
The Slackers (well duh)?
The Allstonians?
Mobtown?
Parka Kings?
And many more....
Third wave trad and swing ska bands!

WorkingClassHero 07-27-2004 01:47 PM

The HotKnives are contemporary with the Toasters, but i'd call them Second Wave revival in style.

The Death Of The Party 07-29-2004 11:14 AM

very nicely done, however imo catch 22 was only good for keasbey nights their breakoff band Streetlight Manifesto however is Excellent :thumb:

The Death Of The Party 07-29-2004 11:19 AM

p.s. you forgot one the forefathers of two-tone MADNESS i HIGHLY suggest listening to "One Step Beyond" their lead singer was Chass Smash, u guys should watch a video of this guy dance, man can he go, unique skank.

WorkingClassHero 07-29-2004 03:45 PM

The Specials started two-tone, both the style and the record company. Madness were a good band that came to it. And Chas Smash, his dad was an Irish Dancing champion, thats where he got his unique style. How do i remember this ****?

Actually the lead singer of Madness is Graham "Suggs" McPherson..off topic, but he's cute!

Anyways, does anyone know where you can watch Madness videos? I can't seem to find any.
