I'm learning Paginni's 5th Caprice at the moment. So I've taken a break from all the bodom stuff I've been learning. I'm gona use it as my main showpiece. I'm trying to get into a music school. (It's a highschool for arts in S.A) I can play the first thirty bars perfectly....but there are like 180 total...it took me a whole week to get the timimg and all the stretching right. But it's already pating off. My lead guitarist started playing tool and when he was done I played what I know of the Caprice and everyone was saying stuff like "Oh that takes real skill"...so my lead player was pissed.
I just realised now that the link i posted was the same as REPCAK posted right after me, that's weird. And he couldn't have know that it is the same clip because on the forum, you have to log in. And he probably isn't registered...
 i don't understand anything... not a single word... |

I learnt some of that too but I've never heard anyone in the world play it cleanly at all apart from Becker, Vai and some classical guitarists, I'd be interested in how clean you could play it. |

Are you learning it by ear? I'm fairly sure that in one issue of Guitar World Yngwie Malmsteen shows you how to play it. You may want to look it up. |
have any of you seen the video of jason becker playing it in a high school... i think he was 15 or something like that... amazing

I have that but it's an octave lower than I like it. Becker's version is better imo. And Yes, I've seen the Becker video, I've seen pretty much all Becker videos on the net. |
Where did you find the Becker version? I'm assuming you found a transcription somewhere.

Powertab.

I've never really listened to You're Better Off Dead much but I listened to it today properly and I FOOKIN' LUV IT. ok.
The solos are wohh. |

It's my favourite album, it has such a dark sound to it, so cool.
I love them all. |

Hatebreeder is by far my favorite album. Go listen to some Black Metal and those vocals will sound like Britney Spears  I don't usually pay much attention to harsh vocals unless they are unusually good, like Wintersun's or Arch Enemy's. |
I do love most of the songs off FtR but there's a few on there that are a bit meh for me to LOVE it.
I recently went through a "OMGILOVEHATEBREEDERSOOMUCH" phase where i learnt all the songs so I ended up liking them all, but now they're getting a bit boring. HCDR was the first album I actually bought, plus I loved Bodom Beach Terror, Needled and Sixpounder beforehand and the rest of it was just as brilliant. AYDY I love too but not as much as HCDR. Btw I love Hate Crew Deathroll. |

All he would've needed was reverb on his voice and an answering machine to record on. It's really hard for me to pinpoint which album is my favorite. Right now I'm going through a Hate Crew Deathroll phase. The album is like brutal power metal; completely unique. I love the balance of soloing and riffing. I've been meaning to learn Lil' Bloodred Ridin' Hood, but I haven't finished tabbing it yet thanks to my homosexual school. Hopefully I can get it tonight and start getting the rhythm parts down. |

What do you use to tab stuff?
|
I use guitar pro 5.
|
I meant Ben. I think he mentioned something about a program he uses to make sure it's 100% or something, just wondering what it was.

I bought a Transkriber. It can slow music down remove vocals, remove channels to tab one guitar at a time, transpose into different keys, alter pitch, and do all kinds of stuff. It takes a few tries to get the hang of, but once you do it's easy. It gives me peace of mind knowing that it's always completely correct. It was expensive though, so I'm not sure it's entirely worth it, unless you're always tabbing difficult songs.
HCDR almost seems like Groove/Power, just because it is such heavy thrash combined with power metal melodicness and leads.
I detect some death metal too. It mixes a lot of metal into one album, and it's pretty unique. |

If I think about it, I never stop listening to CoB. NP Nightwish - Planet Hell. |
Well that transcriber thing sounds cool, unless your ear sucks ha.

How much do those cost? Do they really get it perfect? |
Has anyone here ever watched that Young Guitar video of Jani from Sonata Arctica? If you havn't, and you have p2p, you should download it. Sorry, it is too big for me to take time for uploading. But anyway, the tab is on Mysongbook.com like most other songs, and it is an amazing thing to practice. At least if anyone needs something good to practice legato runs and sweeping. It's not just a practice tool though, it sounds damn good. Sorry if anyone thinks this is spam, but I just can't get over it. I absolutely cherish Reap 'n Roll licks, Passage to the Reaper, and now that Jani demonstration... oh so cool...
|
thank you for the tip...i'm downloading it

Is there a free Guitar Pro out there? Or do you have to pay for any of them?
|
Is there a free Guitar Pro out there? Or do you have to pay for any of them?
Well, you can get it free. I have a GP5 full version for free, which I can send you if you like. What's your e-mail? I will YSI it. |
Flubber did you buy it or did I give it to you? I've given it out to so many people I can't even keep track anymore.

Neither, I got it off of Bearshare. |
I see, did you get the metal kit, and better bass and drums off of www.mysongbook.com? Without it gp5 is next to worthless IMO.

Hmmm... no... never heard of it... |
Oh wow you are so missing it. Without it, I thought gp5 was the biggest piece of poo ever, but with it everything sounds amazing. Metal on stock RSE just sounds like complete anus, you want me to email it to you?
|
Sorry Toaster, I actually think there is something wrong with my computer. Nothing for RAR files is working properly. If I can, I will try later though...

If you can, and it won't be an inconvenience to you, that would be great. |
Ok I emailed it with full instructions.
|
Reap N Roll licks...
That's the brand new one right? If someone could YSI that to me or send on AIM. That be great. :chug: Edit: no longer needed |
