Xiu Xiu - La Foret

Happymeal 10-18-2005 07:41 PM
Is that a compilation or a normal studio album?
It's the studio album that came after Red Medicine.

Anxious 10-18-2005 07:49 PM

Bush Tetras

robot 10-18-2005 07:56 PM

I just got Animal Collective's new record, Feels. I imagine I'm going to be listening to this for a while.

Robert Crumb 10-18-2005 08:26 PM

Calvin Johnson - Before the Dream Fades
Dios (Malos) - Dios (Malos)

I've been anxiously awaiting the latter, playing it for the first time right now. Hmmm.

chaos_shadow24 10-18-2005 09:29 PM

No, but the name of their genre did, and not before becoming a taboo word.

Tell that brother of yours that I'm still waiting for my cd. :p

I'm really enjoying Isis tonight. I listened to Clap Your Hands Say Yeah most of the day at school.

Bukowski 10-19-2005 06:40 AM

Thanks to Happymeal's recommendation some time ago, I've currently been digging Jerk With a Bomb quite a bit. Awsome.

Also:

Sigur Ros - Takk
Minor Threat - Complete Discography
Bad Brains - I Against I
Two Gallants - The Throes

The Decemberists are playing here in November, i'm definitely going. Two Gallants are the support, and they are fantastic as well. Should be a great night.

Jellybones 10-19-2005 07:10 AM
Weezer - Pinkerton
Placebo - Without You I'm Nothing

Been listening to a funk/motown mix that I made the other day. Favourite song on there is Superstition by Stevie Wonder. Such a brilliant wake up song.

TalkingHead 10-19-2005 01:39 PM
Brilliant record! I'm glad someone's listening to this. What have you thought of it?
I was speechless. I spent 3 hours listening to Dead People's Things on repeat. And I just got his boxset yesterday, and it's become my most prized possetion. Easily the finest in dark ambience that I have heard of to this day. I just need to find some of his Supersilent records.

Nifty avy and custom title man .

Im also enjoying

The Dead Texan - S/T
Strapping Young Lad - Alien
Q-Tip - Kamaal The Abstract

Sound Boy 10-19-2005 02:29 PM

i've been keeping my ipod locked on Cake lately

and also
Nada Surf
the Fray
The Books
Team Sleep

Franz Ferdinand
Pulp

I've been in Pulp obsession mode for about a month. How these guys aren't universally recognised as the greatest band ever in the history of anything I'll never know. They released 3 solid albums which I wouldn't hesitate giving a biased 7/5, then a final one which was still 4/5 territory. I love most of the britpop bands and groups to come out of this era/style, but man oh man these guys kill them all.

Hmm, I've always thought they were just okay. Oh well.

morrissey 10-19-2005 04:03 PM

Yeah but you're wrong about everything.

Yeah yeah. I know no one feels the same way but if I can convert just one person into a massive Pulp fan my life will be complete.

I'd feel the same for Nation of Ulysses. Oh well indeed.

I've always thought Pulp were massively underrated, though I only started to get into them properly a few years back. I always loved Common People but assumed it was a one off...

I've also been loving Blondie lately for whatever reason... and a few Bright Eyes albums I nicked off my brother.

I'll change your ways buttermuffin.

edit to UTB: nice to see you back round these parts. I remember when I was first first getting into Pulp last year you recommended "Disco 2000" and "Common People". Thanks for getting me started. B-)

No way, you can't change the fact that they're a mediocre band and that they're just mehish on the ears.

So they've gone from being ok to mehish on the ears?

Boo on you Joe.

I'm currently digging whatever crap Joe likes.

Ok is Mehish. They're not Meh but they're bluring the line of Ok and Meh.

morrissey 10-19-2005 04:31 PM

Thanks bucko. :)

Joe has a secret thing for Jarvis. I can see it in his eyes. It's all in the eyes baby.

The Great Decay 10-19-2005 04:47 PM
