Lars_ironcobra_doublepedal 11-13-2004 10:49 AM

Each alboum has it's one goods. Except St. Anger of course.
For example kill 'em all is thrashin metal, master of puppets has violence.etc

Rob sucked at the concert I went to. He didn't do any bass solos or his ninja $hit.

ddarko 11-13-2004 11:18 AM

first time on the thread. metallica are the greatest band ever! good news as well. in an interview with a bass mag, rob said that the band had been recording new material while on tour! check out www.encycmet.com, a great unofficial 'tallica site

i just watched the video, and kirk's hand never passes the 4th fret, so i dont think thats how its played...unless the video isnt meant to be accurate.

can anyone else help?

Videos arent meant to be accurate, chances are Kirk was making it up, or its a clip from when he was playing a different part of the song... but yea, accuracy isnt necessary in videos, i mean Jason keeps plucking the 5th string in the same song.. which isnt necessary to play the song.

Plus if it sounds right...so what? :smash:

K-6 11-13-2004 07:07 PM

Metallica rocks. My favriot albums by them are Master of Puppets, and S&M. I love all their other albums too. I didn't care for St.Anger much, but I respect that they wanted to do a different style of music. Its always fun to play around with different styles. I hope they go back in their old style of music though, with standard tunning, guitar solos, and great music.

speaking of standard tuning and metallica, how many songs do they that either aren't in normal tuning or out of E key???
i kno whiskey in the jar and sad but true are a step lower, but what else?

do it :thumb:

Which metallica album is the best, cuz I wanna buy 1 for my friend 4 his B'day

btoto 11-14-2004 09:51 AM

Oh $hit !

I thought you wanted the first solo ! fck !

Ok, for the part you want it won't be possible to play the way you hear it on record. I guess there are 2 guitars following each other. That is why it sounds so. Try to play it with someone else and you'll see that.

I play it this way:

2)----3p0------3p0------
3)----------4--------0---

Most of the Load songs are tuned to Eflat. The God That Failed is also to Eflat. St Anger songs are in DropC. The Thing That Should Not Be is in DropD. I Disappear and No Leaf Clover are to Eflat, and -Human is DropDflat. Think that's about it, discounting covers of course.

CrashcourseInBrainSurgery 11-14-2004 10:02 AM

Metallica r just the best band ever!
until about 10 months ago i only listened to linkin park (i no) but i heard master of puppets and that solo just blew my mind. a couple of days later my friend put eruption by van halen on and he thought that was unbelievable and then ui put on master of puppets and he was blown away by it aswell. now i mostly learn metallica (as i took up guitar shortly after hearing master of puppets) so if anyone could email me (at ToyMach1n3@AOL.com) with any advice on playing metal in general. at the minute i want to play rythym so any advice on how to play like james would be apreciated so much
Which metallica album is the best, cuz I wanna buy 1 for my friend 4 his B'day
It depends on his tastes. If he likes heavy stuff, buy one of these:

KILL 'EM ALL
RIDE THE LIGHTENING
MASTER OF PUPPETS

And Justice For All is kind of hard to dig when you're new to Metallica.

If he likes hard rock kinda stuff, buy him one of these:

METALLICA
LOAD
RELOAD

But I recommend for a new guy into Metallica to start with Kill 'Em All and Garage Inc. :thumb:

LoveBuzzed 11-14-2004 11:22 AM

Kill 'Em All I say

yea the solo he did was crazy.

He played a parts of anestisha *sp?* and orion at the Atlanta gig.

It was probly the best concert I have been to in a long time/ever :D

Squirrel 11-14-2004 01:54 PM

Get the powertab file.

jackz53 11-14-2004 02:14 PM

the power tab one says theres 3 guitars:

do you reckon thats right?

Squirrel 11-14-2004 02:29 PM

Most likely; if on powertabs it was rated high/perfect and it sound fine to you, then one would assume its correct.

the powertabs version was rated 4.43 out of 5, and i think its right but i just cant seem to get the rythm right...any suggestions?

Riva 11-14-2004 06:32 PM

Ok, I was reading all the sleeves of my CDs, because I really don't have a life. Anyways, I was looking through the Garage Inc. booklet, and I was suprised at how many of my favourite bands are also listed as influences in Metallica's music.

So, my suggestion is that everyone check out at least one of the bands in the Garage Inc. booklet, and then post back here what you thought of them. This will give us a really good outlook on Metallica's growth and style. If you guys are too lazy to look through the Garage Inc. booklet, I'll post the bands mentioned in it later on today.

Buy him Master of Puppets.....
The first album where all the songs were written by Kirk, JAmes, Lars, and Cliff. Mustaine had written songs on their other albums. And it was the last album Cliff was on

Ktulu19 11-14-2004 06:42 PM

I also think "MOP" is the best to really get you to love Metallica as I do. It was the first album I listened to of theirs...and it sucked me in! *headbangs*

eh, buy him ride the lightning. 7 of the 8 songs were all K,J,L, and C and the only song dave helped on was Ktulu. ride the lightning has amazing guitar and lyrics. it's a great album, IMO metallica's best
