Firstly, if you read the first post of the topic you would see this thread encompasses all things tool, such as APC, pigmy love circus, and of course tool.

I have exams, I may have Aenima recorded by tomorrow. But i think most covers will surface next week.

People are posting their interpretations :confused: why are you complaining, there is no point in having an interpretation if you're not going to discuss it...Also talking with other people about it lets you look at songs in a different perspective.

I know that this is thread is allowed talk on those other bands. I only said what i said because he has made lots of stupid comments. For example, he said that Killswitch Engage and Avenged Sevenfold were Emo.

Wow okay.Maynard does do all the lyrics,even for Mer De Noms.However,Billy Howerdel does ALL the music exception being maynard doing a little synth work and stuff on Emotive.In the case for Mer De Noms it clearly stats this in the case.And how is Mer De Noms religious?Because of Judith which is actually hardly about religion at all it's about having blind faith in religion.Other then that I don't see any ties to religion at all.

Hmm, Ok. I was watching an Interview with Billy and Maynard and heard them say Billy wrote the songs in the 90's...maybe he meant the music itself...or not.

Also i think Clearvision was talking to me Peephole, If so i was'nt complaining about people posting there opinions rather people that said that people who thought the song was about "Anal Fisting" are stupid is pretty harsh when as far as they know it **** well might be! (although i doubt it). People's opinions on songs are great just dont judge their interpretation because you might think its stupid or whatever is what i was getting at.

For instance, I think "Judith" is about believing in God even though bad things constantly happen to you, people will think "He did this to me for a reason" or "He has a plan" etc which is ignorant but people continue to follow the "right" way of jesus/god. "Took all you had and left you this way, still you prey for the one who left you broken down and paralyzed" ...i think that gets my point across...makes sense to me...I think :p

Yeah precisely.It says right in the case for Mer De Noms that Maynard wrote all of the lyrics.But the music is all Billy's.He would write the songs while out on the road as a guitar tech for other bands(like Tool)

well they make references to anal fisting, but obviously the song isnt about it

The song is about anal fisting 'Finger deep within the borderline, this may hurt a little but it's something you'll get used to. However Maynard/tool use this borderline as a metaphor for ceonsorship today, and how people have to go further eg the shoulder to get kicks.

It's using the anal fisting to symbolise something deeper and more general and relevant to life. The song would lose it's effect if it was referring to titty on telly and stuff.

Suggests the deeper meaning behind the metaphor, but i fail to see how you can pull anything else off the face value of the lyrics to that song.

I don't know why you are argueing when you are both right. The song Stinkfist uses Anal Fisting as a metaphor for people going to extreme measures for entertainment.Not only is this opinion but it is fact,this is one of the few songs where Maynard has come out and stated what the song is about.

I like Mer de Noms more myself. Not quite because it's heavier, but because it's just... I don't know, I can't really explain it, I just do.

By the way, on the topic of the cover-band dealy, I know I don't really post that often (Me=Lurker), but if you guys want I'd be happy to attempt some vocal work. My mic might suck though, so I don't know.

I like Mer de Noms and Thirteenth Step equally. Thirteenth step is really relaxing, and certain songs carry cool memories. Mer de noms just has some really powerful lines and i often just listen to individual tracks...

Sup fellaz...me and r0und3r threw together a rough draft of 46+2 last night for the mx comp...it will prolly be done all over again, we just wanted to get the song down a little better so we recorded it...can't wait to hear lateralus...
