What's so great about Dresden Dolls? Aren't they just the gothic White Stripes? Although considering how that band changed itself around for Get Behind Me Satan, it could be a calculated move on their part.

What I think is great about the Dresden Dolls are the songs. And I like the White Stripes, too. |
I found someone on iTunes with Illinois, but they don't have Casimir Pulaski Day dammit! I wanted to hear this song just to see how sad it really is. But after listening to John Wayne Gacy Jr., I think I understand what he's capable of in terms of those emotions.

De Novo Dahl again.
Quite recommended. Now that Johnny Marr sucks, it's nice to hear someone getting his style right.
I can stomach some Morrissey solo stuff, but I've heard Johnny Marr's solo stuff is really bad.
That's not a lol
ur an lol lol |
What I think is great about the Dresden Dolls are the songs.
My thoughts exactly. I listened to some Celebration songs and yeah they're good with their fancy songwriting and unique style but Dresden Dolls make up for that with their ballsy singer (who makes them such a love/hate band) and execution that make their tunes so substantial and memorable, imo. |
Zappa did you like that Celebration album? It's more Birthday Party than Dresden Dolls but there are parallels.
I only listened to the first two tracks, but I really didn't like it. |
Any good?
Yeah, I was the one who made the post about them in the HxC/Emo forum. |
My newest record is the Strokes - First Impressions of Earth. It's good, very Strokes-ish.
|
Bob Dylan & The Band - The Basement Tapes
The only album of the Bands that I have is Music From Big Pink and I've never been able to get into it very much, but this album is fantastic and I will definately give Big Pink another try. Edit: As seen by new avatar, I'm digging Music From Big Pink. |
Captain Beefheart & His Magic Band - Trout Mask Replica
Incubus - Morning View Elliott Smith - Either/Or The Strokes - First Impressions Of Earth |
This is my last.fm chart for last week.

Edit: As seen by new avatar, I'm digging Music From Big Pink.
I can't get into the band at all. The Basement Tapes aren't bad but they just sound like a group of talented musicians getting drunk and stoned. Any Band stuff I've heard that isn't Dylan related I don't like, the songs have no focus or drive. They're just too sloppy. |
Dresden Dolls > The White Stripes
The Dolls' are one of the fost fun interesting bands out there right now. Give me that over any of them generic overhyped indie outfits pimped by NME. I wouldn't call the Stripes all that bad though, they are way better than NME's latest head-receiver, Babyshambles. |
