it sounds good but i guess i don't know what the sleigh bells are for?
can you record and do you play guitar? i could do the keyboards and drums if you want to try to make this non-guitar pro sounding. |
IT'S DAT WINTERTIME SOUND |
I know jackpoop about music composition, but I have the feeling that Winter Wolf would go well with male choral voices, at least at the beginning
I was thinking more of some ambient sounds.
it sounds good but i guess i don't know what the sleigh bells are for?
I was hoping to create a wintery atmosphere. Unfortunately, the bells came out higher in the mix than I wanted.
can you record and do you play guitar? i could do the keyboards and drums if you want to try to make this non-guitar pro sounding.
No, and yes but I suck. I'm hoping to record everything sometime in the spring or summer. If you're still interested, I'll let you know when I plan to start. |
sounds good im just trying to get better at recording as that is what i plan to do after high school.
plus it give me a chance to show off my JV-1080 sounds :p |
If you've ever heard the voice-like ambient sounds that Kraftwerk, Isao Tomita and Walter Carlos, among others, use(d) in their songs, they'd be pretty awesum |

anyone have any suggestions for naming a song about Aragorn and Arwen?
and yes that was highly epic, though I can imagine a 3 Inches Of Blood song busting out afterwoulds for some reason :p |
hopefully it will turn out good, my orchestral expansion is pretty much the god of synth orchestras, i have a nice brassy attack for the next part, just gotta worry about the drums and the woodwind parts.
|
I am totally looking forward to listening to it.

I'll have to look that up. In the meantime, I envisioned the sounds of wind and actual wolf howls
click on poet and the pendulum 2, full song will be created tommorow :)
Teh epicz. I'll try and put up a few more songs from The Scarlet Citadel (again, all midi sadly) tomorrow. I've been listening to a lot of Nightwish, Bal-Sagoth, and Alestorm lately. I'm hoping the influence doesn't turn into plagiarism. I've tried experimenting with a few different things, so it breaks down like this: 1. Intro/Betrayal (starts with a major key march, goes into a gallop-fest with awesome solo) 2. The Scarlet Citadel (melancholy intro, defiant middle, dissonant, sinister outro) 3. A Prisoner (droning doom metal song with mid-tempo second half) 4. The Depths (weird time signature heavy on atmosphere and tension) 5. On Wings from Beyond (low-key instrumental with 8-finger tapping melodies) 6. King Conan Lives (dissonant high-speed riffing with blast beats and some slap bass in the second passage) 7. The Battle of Shamara (symphonic rousing battle epic) And the non-story tracks break down like this: 1. Fire Wraith (doom metal dirge complete with church organ) 2. Infinite Serpents (mid-tempo metal with growled and clean vocals written entirely in harmonic minor) 3. Winter Wolf (chilly power metal with bitchin' solo) 4. Dark Heart of the Woods (mid-tempo power metal with multiple solos and spooky atmosphere and lyrics) |

Cerin Amroth http://www.glyphweb.com/Arda/c/cerinamroth.html |
That'll do us ;)

I'll take this opportunity to rep-whore |
Shadows, you didn't figure this out by ear, did you? If so, MAAAD props.
Killin' sounds too. |
most of it was ear, rest was GP, same with a serpentine offering cover i did.
|
most of it was ear
:amaze: How long did it take you to learn it by ear? |
not too long once you know what the key changes are and what not it's just a matter of how much you know about how orchestras work.
|
Human Fortress have a new album coming out in April. Their first one with Carsten Frank on vocals.
|
It'll be interesting to hear that one. I love Carsten's vocals, but Galloglass was pretty much an extension of Serpent Moves, so I do wonder how he'll sound in a completely new band.
|
There's a couple samples on their MySpace right now. I'll report back shortly.
EDIT: I hate judging off of samples, but this could either really rule or really suck. The synths are much higher in the mix than ever before, and the vocals are much more heavily layered. It's slightly reminiscent of Rhapsody of Fire. |
I hate it when the synths become overpowering, but I'll probably reserve the final judgement till April. I like Human Fortress and I enjoy Frank's vocal style, so I'll see how it goes.
|
It's taken long enough, but I've finally realized what's so awesome about Slough Feg.
|
never heard of human fortress what where there previous releases like?
EDIT: oh and i added more to my Nightwish project, i added the epic part after with guitar that sounds a little too bass and the rest isin't high enough in the mix and the drums are a little rough, but it came out decent enough for right now, i plan on making this on going just adding pieces. EDIT 2: lol it's top 10 in cover songs on soundclick :) i feel special |
Very good. Sounds better in parts than the demo did, lol.

It took Hardworlder to convert me. |
Anyone heard of Kahn's (Kamelot) previous band called Conception.
You can check them out some of their songs on youtube. Pretty solid imo. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z6knSSZmYlc&NR=1 |
It took Hardworlder to convert me.
Solid album, though Slough Feg seem te get progessivly less metal and more hard rock. Still love them though, but I would have liked a few more Twilight of the Idols (favorite album btw. check out the song Bipolar Disorder) and Down among the deadmen style albums, with more folk and metal |
