good rats 04-10-2005 09:08 AM

Well for my birthday in two weeks I plan on getting the Behringer BX3000t head from my folks to go with my Hartke VX115. And then after that I'm saving for a new bass, most likely a Ibanez SR505.

lemoley 04-10-2005 09:09 AM

well since i have just bought a new bass i dunno really, maybe a new amp

katana_manatee 04-10-2005 09:10 AM

good rats 04-10-2005 09:12 AM

lemoley 04-10-2005 09:13 AM
What bass did you get?
A fender jazz (MIM), i posted a thread about it but it waas not very popular :upset: thanks for asking though

Jamie 04-10-2005 09:14 AM

A geddy lee jazz bass hopefully!

katana_manatee 04-10-2005 09:14 AM

One thing I will say about Steiny's is they look like cricket bats with strings.

He might be wanting it for portability, ease of throwing it in the over head compartment in a plane perhaps?

Rollo47 04-10-2005 09:14 AM
Nice.

Another one of my friend's picked up an instrument; saxophone :).

Maybe he can join us (the band) in a year or so, hopefully sooner, as I now want to play some Spyro Gyra.
Spyro Gyra are awesome.

lemoley 04-10-2005 09:14 AM

good rats 04-10-2005 09:15 AM

Oh, haha. Tell us more about it.

Darn, I hate harmony central. First, they hated the bass, and now, they love the one with a drop d option.

Meh... They gave high ratings to the SX I bought, so...

And something that bothers me about the earlier review; 5 on stock sound, yet 8 on stock overall... WHAT?

lemoley 04-10-2005 09:18 AM
Oh, haha. Tell us more about it.
are you talking to me, oh well if you are......

Its in black and is left handed (of course) and i got it for 390 pounds as the shop will be getting loads of publicity as it is gonna be on on prime time tv. I also got other stuff due to the discount offer including: a hard case, rotosound strings, a strap and a boss br-1180

good rats 04-10-2005 09:18 AM

Harmony Central can be RAELLY good for reviews, or sometimes, it can just suck.

Radiobass81 04-10-2005 09:19 AM

Rollo: Indeed. Most of their songs are simply amazing. They came here last year for the Heineken jazz fest and... I MISSED THEM :upset:.

Why I want a Steinberger:

I love headless basses (I've always had), and I love the clang. I've alwas liked Kubicki clangs, but they are a tad exagerrated, and too overpriced, where as Steinberger basses are mainly perfect in everything.

Suggest me an album to get? I have none of their albums, but would like one/some.

katana_manatee 04-10-2005 09:21 AM

It is just a shame that the original Steinberger company don't make them anymore. All you can get these days are licenced copies.

I actually hate HC, as most reviews come from fanatics of the bass (so it will have amazing reviews) or unexperienced players, such as the guys who rated the SX :upset:.

Now, Talkbass...
about 2 years ago i picked up the five sting version- the xt25. for what it is i really couldn't be happier. i bought it mainly as a travel bass, something keep handy if inspiration ever strikes, and at times the perfect small backup. i bought mine from musicyo, and although the finish is perfect, i noticed that the factory didn't put in one of the screws on one of the pickup rings; nothing major but enough to slightly dietract from an otherwise great set-up. the rest of the set-up from the factory was actually pretty good, nice and low with no buzz. the strings didn't have a feel i liked and i replaced them with a set from ken smith, and it made a huge imporovement in both feel and sound. the neck reminds me of a spector, although i think the string spacing is just a touch tighter; but this is only from memory and i could be wrong. i don't like vol/vol/tone setup's, and one day may re-wire it, but overall the tone is one i really like. i am very impressed with the bridge pickup, i usually play primarily with the neck solo'd or just a touch or bridge, but that back pickup just sounds alot fuller than most other passive basses i've played. i also really don't care for emg's but i find these do the job really well. the only real downside to the electronics is the amount of volume it actually controls, only about the upper 15% seems to control the pickup, after that any change is not noticeable. the gigbag isn't the thickest, but does its job and is free, so i guess i can't complian. other than geddy i know jeordie white is playing one with perfect circle; it is definetely a capable bass, especially one in the $300 price range.

This seems a lot fairer and better.

Yeah, seems to be more objective and in depth.

good rats 04-10-2005 09:25 AM

Yea that's true Radio, everytime I read a review, I noticed a lot of 9's and 10's. And I was wondering, whya ll these basses were rated so high.

The Deep End. It's the only one I have, but, from the ones I've head, I've liked this one the best.

Katana: It's still the same staff, mainly. When Gibson bought them, most of the staff stayed, even when the management moved.
