They apparently sound great, really good reproductions of classic basses but the feel of instrument is apparently very cheap and not too great. Playability isn't meant to be too great either...

Radiobass81 04-10-2005 08:28 AM

I'm not going to save up for a Line 6 (which was an original idea) because of the lack of frets... Call me picky, but from now on, I need to be able to easily reach atleast the 21st.

good rats 04-10-2005 08:29 AM

Yea, I've played it, it's alright, it's got GREAT sounds, it's raelly amazing, it would be so much better if they felt just as good as they sounded.

Radiobass81 04-10-2005 08:31 AM

I've heard they feel like a jazz. Nothing bad there.

Hey, has anyone else played Steinbergers?

Jaco Jr: I checked the site, and it seems you played an old Z series; the new ones are slimmer and lighter.

Jamie 04-10-2005 08:31 AM

THe variaxes are brilliant! Ive played one for about 6 hours over the course of a week when I was working in a music shop.

They are soooo versatile and I can get so many tones out of it its amazing! And the neck is a really nice size and feels great. The only problem is there are hollow spots and theres a hollow spot under the strings and near the G string, which annoyed me when my fingers were hitting the hollow pickguard area when popping

Jame: If you stare at your avatar, it seems to be getting faster and faster every time...

good rats 04-10-2005 08:40 AM

I did it then, and it actually does. And who here actually plans on buying a Line 6 Variax bass? *raises hand*

Radiobass81 04-10-2005 08:43 AM

So... No one has played a Steinberger :upset:?

Jamie 04-10-2005 08:44 AM

good rats 04-10-2005 08:48 AM
They are all headless.

oh i didnt know that :upset:

and yeah it had a really nice warm tone and was well worth the money (plus allie bar bar plays one ;) )

Radiobass81 04-10-2005 08:53 AM

:)

I'll get one soon. I will, however, by the XZ-2, which do not look like brooms, so are nto as comfortable (seeing as the L series and the others are considered the most comfortable basses ever).

Dieforitall89 04-10-2005 08:54 AM

Not too bad...I discovered what you guys mean when you say country music is a crowd pleaser....i got a few solos at my mini gig and that was one of them and everyone was clapping(just did the verse-ish thing and the chorus)

katana_manatee 04-10-2005 08:57 AM
How does it sound? What model? Was it worth it?
It is a Steinberger Spirit Pro (I think), good sound off of it but not a very natural tone. Good for metal and blues but not too great clean imo. Not a bad guitar though, worth the price at about £300.

lemoley 04-10-2005 08:58 AM

good luck then radiobass hope you find one

Radiobass81 04-10-2005 08:58 AM

Nice.

Another one of my friend's picked up an instrument; saxophone :).

Maybe he can join us (the band) in a year or so, hopefully sooner, as I now want to play some Spyro Gyra.

Radiobass81 04-10-2005 09:00 AM

Thanks Katana and lemoley :).

katana_manatee 04-10-2005 09:03 AM
