Is it true that absolutely nothing happens in Wyoming?

Concerning Pestilence talk, what I've heard from CI doesn't sound hugely different in terms of style from MM, vocals aside.

FatalEnergy 12-13-2007 04:29 PM

It's not. At least I never thought so. I think the guitar tone is heavier and the songwriting is more dynamic, but that's about it.

RIP indeed. I was listening to ITP this morning.

I'm listening to the discography at the moment. I'll probably listen again.

...and for the rest of the week.
Is it true that absolutely nothing happens in Wyoming?
Yeah basically...Although I got to see Metallica in 04 in Casper and Tool was here last month.

But aside from that, just small town bullcrap gossip and drama.

I miss Chuck as well
:chug:

FatalEnergy 12-13-2007 06:30 PM

So I've avoided Hypocrisy for all these years because I thought they were some modern bullshit, but the first three albums are quite good. Their newer stuff sucks way hard though.

AA-12 12-13-2007 06:34 PM

Yeah, they're great. All of their work is good though, even the new stuff.

i am the robots 12-13-2007 06:38 PM

Yeah, the new stuff's just a bit cheesy, great live act though.

pate 12-13-2007 06:57 PM

Just avoid Catch 22 and The Arrival.

FatalEnergy 12-13-2007 07:00 PM

I've been meaning to check out Abducted, since apparently that's where they started changing. I'm not sure I'll like as much as the first three though.

masscows 12-13-2007 07:51 PM

Everything I've heard from Hypocrisy was bland generic melodeath. Apparently their old stuff is good though, as mentioned.

FatalEnergy 12-13-2007 08:04 PM

Yeah, the old stuff isn't melodic. Well the third album is slightly, but it isn't generic.

Eliminator 12-13-2007 08:05 PM

I've been listening to Lucid Interval by Cephalic Carnage some today. It would be a lot better if there wasn't so much filler.

Eliminator hasn't heard much good dm in awhile. Tell Eliminator what to listen to.

NemesisDivina 12-13-2007 08:06 PM

Evil Incarnate...

FatalEnergy 12-13-2007 08:06 PM

Acheron

pate 12-13-2007 08:08 PM

Sarpanitum perhaps

Eliminator 12-13-2007 08:10 PM

These bands better make Eliminator feel filthy in his trousers.

pate 12-13-2007 08:11 PM

In a good way?

Eliminator 12-13-2007 08:11 PM

Death fisting fury.

Gonads 12-13-2007 08:57 PM

I'm listening to this band called Into Eternitey, are they good? and what kind of genre would they be considered?
http://youtube.com/watch?v=Mm-RGms9Kn0

Deth 12-13-2007 09:00 PM

The genre is really hard to pin down, they mix in death metal, power metal, prog and so forth. I like them a lot and would recommend Buried In Oblivion and The Scattering of Ashes as albums to check out.

Eliminator 12-13-2007 09:01 PM

Band blows buffalo balls.

NemesisDivina 12-13-2007 09:05 PM

I liked them a lot when I was first getting into metal, and they're a good band to start with... but their novelty wore thin on me after like... 2 months maybe? Now I just think they're boring. But yeah, you should check them out if you're not really into much metal yet.

masscows 12-13-2007 09:06 PM

Yeah I don't like them much. Saying they blow buffalo balls is a gross overstatement though.

Daven 12-13-2007 09:06 PM

Yeah, I loved them but they got old very fast.

FatalEnergy 12-13-2007 09:13 PM

Horrible horrible band, not Death Metal either.

rattlehead42147 12-13-2007 09:26 PM
So I've avoided Hypocrisy for all these years because I thought they were some modern bullpoop, but the first three albums are quite good. Their newer stuff sucks way hard though.
yes, pate was right about Osculum Obscenum. But the s/t and Virus are the only other ones I've heard and they are practically melo-death crap.

R.I.P. Chuck
I can't believe I haven't even listened to Death today. I'm in the mood for Human or ITP.

I used to really like The Scattering of Ashes, especially A past Beyond Memory. The rest of the album got old though.

I recommend Afflicted's Prodigal Sun.
@Eliminator

NemesisDivina 12-13-2007 09:30 PM

Kylan, what the hell is your problem? I've been listening to Death constantly since I got home from school. I'm listening to Individual Thought Patterns at the moment... Symbolic is next :D

NP: Jealousy

This song is so damn good, it's easily one of my favorites off of ITP.

rattlehead42147 12-13-2007 09:37 PM

yeah definitely one of the best

You Want What You Cannot Have, JEALOUSY!
I really like Overactive Imagination and The Philosopher, one of the best Death lyrics is the "Ideas that fall under shadows/of theories that stand tall/thoughts that grow narrow/upon being verbally released"

I'm going to bump ITP while I do my homework.

NemesisDivina 12-13-2007 09:39 PM

THEEEE PHILOSOPHER!

You know so much about nothing AT ALL

\m/

rattlehead42147 12-13-2007 09:42 PM

I can play that one, it was fun, it's pretty much the only song I can sing over while playing. The outro solo was a bit beyond my reach though...

NemesisDivina 12-13-2007 09:43 PM

Gene's drumming on ITP is so damn good. He adds so much.

rattlehead42147 12-13-2007 09:48 PM

The Death thread is missing out on potential discussion :upset:
I think that ITP has the worst production, and Symbolic has the best.

NemesisDivina 12-13-2007 09:52 PM

I like ITP's production simply because the bass is so audible. Digiorgio is really good and his tone sounds pretty good in ITP. But I'd say Scream Bloody Gore has a tad worse production than ITP (not counting Death By Metal Reissue).

rattlehead42147 12-13-2007 10:28 PM

yeah I forgot about SBG, you can't really expect stunning production though for a debut though. You're right about the production on ITP and also about Hoglan, I never really paid attention to him before. Andy's solos are really different from all the other Death guys, its great.

i am the robots 12-13-2007 10:35 PM

Of course you forgot SBG, you've never heard it.

Tyler 12-13-2007 10:37 PM

DiGiorgio is too loud sometimes though.

Riva 12-13-2007 10:40 PM

I've started to appreciate good bassists in metal more and more now, though, so bassists like Furangen and DiGiorgio can be louder than usual, in my book.
