I actually think it's a bit overrated.

Best thing since original sin, but a bit overrated.

Oh, and this thread should be 22 Acacia Avenue.

What about Wasted Years? That's a classic...The Bass to that song is one of my favourite to play...

Meh...I'm not a huge wasted years fan, too commercial a track to be a favourite of mine...like FOI and man on the edge, it's nearly always the singles that are the worst tracks on a maiden album IMO

The released version of Out of the Silent Planet was crap, they took out all the good bits.

Music doesn't have to be unpopular to be good :upset:

Does anyone here prefer Paul to Bruce?

the_uber_penguin 09-19-2005 05:55 PM

I do, I prefer Paul's original recordings to Bruce's version of most of them.

It's wierd, as much as I prefer Paul on those albums, everything after that just wouldn't have worked with Paul. He was fired/quit at just the right time.

superpeer 09-19-2005 06:23 PM

Enjoy the new name. :)

YDload 09-19-2005 06:53 PM

Hey thanks Jelly.

I don't so much prefer the singing of Paul over Bruce, but I happen to like the songs on Killers more than any other album. Even though Di'Anno greatly improved between those two albums he was on, he was still sounding too much like Halford to me. Iron Maiden needed to separate itself more from Judas Priest, and Steve's insane bass playing just wouldn't be enough for the casual listener (who only pays attention to singing and guitar solos).

FlyingPaul_83 09-19-2005 06:59 PM

nice thread name guys :thumb:

Murders in the rue morgue is a such a good song. Killers is such a great album.

I find Maiden much better than Priest. But I also notice the bass. :upset:

I did that the other day. I still need to work on it though. I don't even bother attempting Iron Maiden solos.

While I would agree, Priest is still criminally underrated and only remembered for the mediocre stuff like Breaking the Law.

blockheads dead 09-19-2005 07:07 PM

What do you guys think the best live Maiden album is? I vote Live after Death.

Rock in Rio

Deth 09-19-2005 07:13 PM

I only have LAD, so my vote goes to that, but I will be picking up Death On The Road.

Yeah, Painkiller is my favourite Priest album.

My favourite maiden live album is probably RiR...
But it's all good.

IMO bruce sounded more like halford, paul had more of a raspy raw sound to his voice. Also, i agree with a person above me. PAul did quit at the right time, he maybe could have gone with maybe one more album but he wasnt very versitile and was very limited in his singing. Where as bruce could sing anything, he could sound rasypy ( no prayer, fear of the dark) or he could sing opera like voice ( seventh son, somewhere in time, brave new world)

that being said, i still love killers and iron maiden. Those albums are probaly my top 2 maiden albums.

NP: twilight zone

anyway, im gonna do what cragmaiden did and ask you guys what maiden songs i should learn, me play bass

cheers

the_uber_penguin 09-20-2005 05:07 AM

Paul was killing himself with trying to keep up with the touring schedule, though. He just wasn't cut out to be as big as Iron Maiden now are.

-The Frank 09-20-2005 05:31 AM

yah, but then again bruce ended up being professionally trained so he could learn how to keep his voice up on tour

DimebagDarrell 09-20-2005 05:42 AM

Bruce is a better singer but he cant do the paul stuff as good e.g. remember tomorrow on a real live dead one

-The Frank 09-20-2005 05:47 AM

yah but bruce could have done some of pauls stuff if he kept practicing his singing style in no prayer for the dying and fear of the dark. He had a nice raspy tone in those

me need new songs
