Yeah his voice has definately matured a lot

Burdcheese 01-24-2005 04:12 PM

^^For the better I'd say

JACKROXYOU 01-24-2005 04:23 PM
^^Page 468 by my count.

I think Hetfield's voice as it is now (or at least as it was in the Load era) is well suited to both distorted and clean.

When he was younger, it was definately only good for louder distorted guitar stuff
i know but it had gotten down to page 3

it was abig bump

Burdcheese 01-24-2005 04:24 PM

^^It makes me sad when our beloved thread falls into temporary disuse

JACKROXYOU 01-24-2005 04:32 PM

yea

my new metallica thought
Secret to good metallica album

three word titles
Kill them all ( i know its kill'em all but its the same diff)
ride the lightning
master of puppets
s & m
all good

4 words is different
and justice for all

less than three the worse except for black album and load

I've always thought (to me anyways) James voice, on KeA, in way resembles Mustaines

ExitSandman 01-24-2005 04:56 PM

Yes, I also think James' voice has matured and is better now then it was in the beginning. I've seen them perform Nothing else matters in Sydney 04 and Rio 04, and it sounded very good. Better than on the original album imo.

I personally liked the album version better.

Hit the guitar forum Ace.

W.M.A 01-25-2005 06:59 AM

James' voice in S&M i think was the best it ever was. I downloaded(legally) tracks of them playing in orlando and its really deteriated, especially on the older tracks, so i think hes definetely passed his peak.

munky_magik 01-25-2005 07:01 AM

People need to remember that live recordings are doctored to hell when released on DVD etc...

yeah i like his voice around the 'justice' period it was very well suited to the music and sounded cool

KILO5203 01-25-2005 10:30 AM

what do you guys think the easiest to play metallica solo is? (besides those intro solos)

btoto 01-25-2005 10:46 AM

Am I Evil is very easy and sounds good, so are last Fade To Black (easy, just spend some time) and the unforgiven.

benfan 01-25-2005 11:07 AM

better than you-both solo's,unforgiven

^Dream~Theater^ 01-25-2005 11:52 AM

Am I Evil is a very fun song to play.

Burdcheese 01-25-2005 01:29 PM

The tab I read of Am I Evil scared me...

honestly.

munky_magik 01-25-2005 01:33 PM

why?

Burdcheese 01-25-2005 01:35 PM

It had strange markings around the outside (denoting powerchords)
Moreover it looks like something a little too advanced for crappy old me

Sgt.Pepper 01-25-2005 01:40 PM

I don't really understand what is so good about Metallica yes they are outstanding instrumentalists but very few of there songs are that great (in my opinion). I think the singer is rather horrible and with the exception of a few songs most of there stuff is boring and redundant. There new stuff is so bad that I would rather listen to the average pop song than torture myself by listening to St.Anger and whatever the other crappy songs are called.

munky_magik 01-25-2005 01:41 PM

good for you. was there any point to that post?

\m/Pete\m/ 01-25-2005 01:46 PM

Am I Evil is one of the funnest songs to jam too

along with soundgardens outshined..

munky_magik 01-25-2005 01:52 PM

My preferred version of of Am I evil is an improv jazz one. Oh so much more fun.
And I never really got into soundgarden

ivy 01-25-2005 02:21 PM

hey guys do any of you know if tallica are gonna be in england atr all this year? maybe at redding or download. id love to see them in concert but the tour dates arent on the website so im guessin theyre not touring

Burdcheese 01-25-2005 02:24 PM

Tis a pity - Soundgarden are an awesome band and Chris Cornell is one of modern rock's great voices

edit: to Munkey

Their album won't be realeased untill mid this year earliest, so there's no chance that they'll be hitting Europe before next year. Unless they do a festival tour before the states, but I imagine it'll be unlikely that they're in Europe before next year.

mariojenkins 01-25-2005 02:33 PM

Yeah for sure. Soundgarden is one of my next favorite bands, after Metallica. Can't deny, and as a drummer, Cameron has some awesome grooves and fills in a lot of the songs. I love the drumming on Am I Evil? too. It's a song everyone should learn lol. It'll be my first when I start picking up the guitar soon...

Leper 01-25-2005 02:36 PM

I don't know why everyone makes such a big deal about how they think James's voice is supposedly deteriorating. In comparison to others, James's voice is in great shape considering how long they've been around i.e. Brian Johnson of AC/DC--im a fan of theirs but i hope for his sake that AC/DC doesn't go on another tour so he can at least talk in future years.

Burdcheese 01-25-2005 02:48 PM

^^and what about James Labrie of Dream Theater?
Fine and dandy on albums but often like cat-strangling live

Leper 01-25-2005 02:56 PM

Im not familiar with Dream Theater so i can't really offer an opinion on them, but i'm glad that you agree with my point.

JACKROXYOU 01-25-2005 03:19 PM

yea well ac/dc will go on another tour this year due to a new album

Mister_Che 01-25-2005 03:22 PM

I figure Metallica will tour as well to promote their new songs.
what? metallica-new album? really?
Have you been living in a cave, on mars, with your eyes shut, and your fingers in your ears? (Reps to whoever knows where I got that from)

They should be recording soon, if not already, followed by a tour to promote it.

benfan 01-25-2005 03:59 PM

i new they were going to record but i didnt no whether they had already, sorry
