To reply to the question on last page: It sounds like Oak er feldt.
That's how Mikael said it when he introduced himself on an intereview I saw a while back.

Deth 03-01-2006 08:08 PM

Opeth coming on during shuffle makes me happy.

NP: Face Of Melinda

Until it takes them a month to ship the crap you ordered.

My favorite song ever...

Well, one of them

Shattered_Future 03-01-2006 08:39 PM

Still don't like it.

Although I must say, White Cluster was pure ownage live. I wasn't a big fan of that song before, but they tore it up with that.

Toaster 03-01-2006 08:40 PM

The dueling guitar bit was fantastic.

Darkness 03-01-2006 08:43 PM

So Toaster, was there any change in the setlist?

Toaster 03-01-2006 08:49 PM
Setlist (somewhat in order...):
Ghost Of Perdition
White Cluster
The Amen Corner
Baying Of The Hounds
Under A Weeping Moon
Closure
The Grand Conjuration
The Drapery Falls
Deliverance (encore)
That, plus Deep Purple's "Soldier of Fortune". Heh, right before TGC someone in the audience threw Mikael A. this necklace with an inverted cross on it.. Akerfeldt was saying how the song was all about "hot chicks, toilets, snakes, and muscular masked men".

Shattered_Future 03-01-2006 08:51 PM

We got something about how everybody should admire the hotness of the loose moraled nurse in bed.

I will say, that song blew me away live. It's decent (if a bit repetitive) normally, but that was one of the best performances of the night, I thought.

Darkness 03-01-2006 08:56 PM

I'm really hoping for a bit of a change in the setlist.

But those comments on TGC are pretty funny. I honestly wouldn't mind if they cut TGC, Deliverance, and Demon of the Fall for some other of there more famous songs (BWP!). I've seen those live here already, and it wouldn't be terrible if they cut them out for something else...

Toaster 03-01-2006 08:58 PM

I just thought it was funny how clearly unhappy he was with the video.

White Cluster and Deliverance stole the show for me.. I would have loved to see some improv during the midsection of Under The Weeping Moon.

I was also hoping for a change in the setlist. I wanted more Still Life.

TojesDolan 03-01-2006 09:21 PM

Everyone want more Still Life. All the time. They should go back to promoting Still Life and please us all.

On a related note, I still think there's something weird about the vocals in "Remember tomorrow"... Forced maybe? I need to give it a more through listen.

Darkness 03-01-2006 09:24 PM

I thought that was a pretty good song. Remember though, Mikeals clean vocals weren't as well developed back then as they are now, nore did they have as good production.

Stormrider 03-01-2006 09:30 PM

So ,Still Life is awsome!

I wasnt realy fond of Face of Melinda for some reason. I'll give it some more tries but, something just didn't "click"

Otherside 03-01-2006 09:38 PM

The show I was at they were selling Ghost Reveries and that's it, for anyone still wondering.

It was done at the My arms, your hearse times, right?

Well, yeah I suppose that should be counted on. Nonetheless the instruments are awesome in that song.

EDIT: woohoo 7000. I should go to sleep or something.

Shadows 03-01-2006 10:07 PM

I'm in the process of getting the album now. I just have to get through Nectar and then it's on to the beast.

I'd delete, but two or three people have quoted me.

Darkness 03-01-2006 10:09 PM

I'll delete if you want. :p

Killtacular 03-01-2006 10:09 PM

Stormrider 03-01-2006 10:12 PM

I've got some painfully true black metal that says otherwise.

Only those who don't know the innerworkings of black metal would say that. Prepare to be crucified like the Christ you erroneously worship.

No no, it takes tr00 black metal to turn my thoughts.

Emperor 03-01-2006 11:50 PM

So, I saw Opeth on the 28th of February and I have to say it was one kick *** show. There wasn't a bad band or song played at all. Devin Townsend was funny and played Vampolka and Vampira. Dark Tranquility were awesome and Opeth was just amazing, no explanation needed.
