Dinosaur Jr.- some greatest hits album i found on someone's iTunes library. i think it's called "Ear-Bleeding Country." great collection of songs, makes me wonder what awesome ones they've almost invariably left off.

I reckon it will take until you're 30 to discover most of the seminal indie bands.

heh, you think you know J Mascis? I had a drink with him when he came to NZ once. pretty cool guy, bit of an ego problem though. |
Yesterday and today I've listened to:
Nick Drake - Pink Moon Hot Snakes - Automatic Midnight Pulp - Different Class |
Jesu - Heartache EP
Kayo Dot - Drowsing Anemone Ride - Nowhere Idiot Pilot - Strange We Should Meet Here |
and I'm diggin' The Robot Ate Me so far
|
Today I bought:
The Troggs - Hot Days Kerosene 454 - At Zero (local band) Butthole Surfers - Weird Revolution ...so I am digging all of those. Apart from that, Fela Kuti is amazing. |
Bee Thousand
One Word Extinguisher |
Am I the only one who's noticed this thread going the OPPOSITE direction of what tangy said? As much as the guy bugs me, he's right. This thread is a little ridiculous when people make their "digging" posts as cryptic as possible.

Agreed. I never really got those 'lists'. Not that's a bad thing, but only lists really gets boring after awhile. I'm not really stimulated checking out an artist when I see just names and titles scattered around everywhere. |
and I'm diggin' The Robot Ate Me so far
The Robot Ate Me are pretty cool, from the few songs I've heard. Oh No! Oh My! (The Jolly Rogers) are named after a Robot Ate Me song.
...but I'll be seeing them twice, oooh howd you like dem apples occa?
Oh shoosh. I've been digging Pinkerton, but haven't actually listened to it. I had a conversation about it on the train home with my friend. |
Currently diggin' on 5ive.
Not the pop group 5ive, but the stoner/sludge/post-metal/drone/whatever group 5ive. It's a bit more repeatative/uneventful than what I can usually dig, but I'm apparently diggin' how these chaps do it. |
I'm digging Ampere. Which is like an emo band, only all of their songs are under two minutes. They're pretty great. I have three of their releases if anyone wants to AIM me for them.
All Our Tomorrows End Today is not a bad album for being 10 minutes long. Lately I've been listening to a lot of Funeral Diner, American Football and La Quiete. |
AFX - Hangable Auto Bulb
Talking Heads - Remain In Light Envy - A Dead Sinking Story |
graves:naughty:
|
i've been diggin so
|
Oh my god Fishbone is godly, and as of recent I heard a band called 'Mobile' on Muchmusic they had some skill. Sounded like a less poppy Killers. Also Modest mouse and The Flatliners have caught my eye as of late.
|
I'm having a difficult time not listening to Tom Waits, Gogol Bordello, and Mischief Brew. I just can't tear myself away from those bands.
|
Talking Heads - Remain In Light
Envy - A Dead Sinking Story
Two completely different albums, but both really great. |
An overly tense Friday to be chilled by Yo La Tengo, dEUS and Morphine.
|
Morphine - Cure For Pain
Talking Heads - Remain In Light fIREHOSE - Ragin', Full-On |
I've listened to alot of stuff the past two days or so, mostly pop punk & ska:
The Aquabats - The Fury Of The Aquabats! - Really fun album, I was really depressed this morning - I played this on the train and had to stop myself from skankin' on the train to work. Alex Drosen (Zappa) - Sit & Melt - Nice ambient stuff from Mx's finest. Elvis Costello & The Attractions - This Years Model - I didn't think too much of this when I first listened to it, but on second listen it's pretty good stuff, nothing special, just a bunch of solid songs. Less Than Jake - Hello Rockview! - Great album, tons of good songs: All My Friends Are Metalheads, Last One Out Of Liberty City, Five State Drive (my favourite on the album). The Arcade Fire - The Arcade Fire EP - Nothing special really, I didn't like too much of it. Has a couple of good songs but nothing to write home about. Fall Out Boy - Fall Out Boy's Evening Out With Your Girl - Fun album, not as good as Take This To Your Grave (one of my favourite pop-punk albums) but still enjoyable nevertheless. Midtown - Forget What You Know - Not as good as some of their other albums but still not too shabby. The Violent Femmes - S/T - Listened to this for the first time yesterday, I'm digging it alot; I've had Blister In The Sun stuck in my head for two days straight now. |
Produced by Butch Walker.
Really? Never knew that. I've got some of his songs on my PC, I need to get one of his albums soon. |
Really? Cool
Read this: http://www.sputnikmusic.com/album.php?reviewid=4760 I posted a link to his cover of Live & Let Die in there somewhere, if you're interested.
Sweet review man. That EP sounds really good, I'm gonna have to track that down. Thanks. :thumb: |
The Slackers
Morphine MAAAAAAN, i love the how great and chilled out these bands are. |
Eric B. & Rakim - Paid In Full
So awsome. |

Likewise. Magical stuff. |

Is there nothing he can't do? I'm listening to Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young today. It seems to me they as a group get overlooked by how big Neil Young is, but they put out some really amazing folk music, specifically Teach Your Children. |
You guys probably don't thank me enough for largely exposing A&I to Wrong by NoMeansNo.
I just listened to it this evening, and it's still ridiculously awesome. |
You guys probably don't thank me enough for largely exposing A&I to Wrong by NoMeansNo.
Thank you. Very much. |
Listened to alot of music since I got home from work:
Megadeth - Peace Sells...But Who's Buying? - I was pleasantly surprised by my first listen of this album today. I expected it to be a pile of guitar wankery but there's some good songs on here and tons of brilliant solos. Tom Waits - Bone Machine - My downloaded copy keeps cutting the ends off a few songs so I'm gonna have to get an original copy - and another Tom Waits album along with it. I just literally downloaded Rain Dogs so I'm going to give that a listen tomorrow. Mr Bungle - California - I didn't really like this album when I first listened to it some months ago but I decided to give it a second chance and it's really good, very crazy, but good. Goodbye Sober Day is a perfect closer. Refused - The Shape Of Punk To Come - Never fails to disappoint no matter how many times I listen to it. |
Dave Grohl exposed me to it first, but thanks nonetheless.
Dave Grohl is a big reason that Songs for the Deaf is my favorite QotSA album. And like, better songs and stuff. |

Same. Songs For The Deaf > Every other QOTSA album. |

Psh. You guys are full of ****. Rated R is the class act. |

QOTSA's self titled does not get enough love.
Right now I'm digging This Mortal Coil. Their cover of "Song to the Siren" is life affirming, man. As if I didn't love Liz Fraser enough already. |
