They were obviously too self-involved to notice then because he did finger pick, I'm not sure if he did all the time but just watch Cliff Em All or look at any old live pictures of him and you'll see.
Exactly. Cliff finger-plucked!

Riva 10-31-2004 09:45 PM

Cliff did a hybrid, I think. Half tap, half pick.

Caedar 10-31-2004 10:15 PM
They(James&Kirk) said Rob was the first bassist to finger pluck.

...Owned.
Uh, no. And I quote from "Some Kind of Monster" the movie, Kirk says "We liked Rob (Trujillo). He played the bass with his fingers, which reminded us a lot of Cliff Burton."

jason01 11-01-2004 05:37 AM

does anybody here like "crash course in brain surgery" i like it, its got a catchy riff at the start, its a great song

icebase 11-01-2004 05:42 AM

Metallica are one of the biggest sellouts EVER they are good and everything but once they started to play one of the biggest roles in shutting down napster thats whaen they became sellouts. :upset: now all they are in it is for the money. :upset:

Uh, I'm just telling you what's in the official Metallica Book, So What!, in which they stated that rob was the first one.

We_Did_die_young 11-01-2004 06:50 AM

yeah i know sum 41 are canadain, but i guess you fail to see my point so like a kindergarten student i will have to spell it out for you, she doesnt play any musical instrament, all she does is sing, and she sings about stupid teenage problems that i dont want to hear about anymore, sum 41 plays rock music and plays it pretty good except for For whom the bell tolls...

Let me spell it out like a pre-schooler to you.
I never said you were wrong in your opinion, I simply pointed out that Sum 41 were Canadian.

We_Did_die_young 11-01-2004 06:57 AM

We_Did_die_young 11-01-2004 09:15 AM
look at the Megadeth writing style on Megadeth CDs! Its almost an exact copy of Metallica's writing on CDs.

Still, as Metallica always does...THEY WILL COME UP WITH SOMETHING!
Which Megadeth albums have you heard??? I love both bands, but even I know they sound different.

They will come up with something??? Realistically what have Metallica done studio album-wise since 1988???

Five Magics 11-03-2004 03:56 PM
Kerry King: "Whoever told him that he can sing should be shot on the spot!"

yeah, because Tom's voice is any better....

Early Metallica is based on Dave's writing style.

Five Magics 11-03-2004 04:51 PM
Early Metallica is based on Dave's writing style.
Agreed. But in interviews Mustaine has said that he could have easily sounded just like Metallica, but he wanted to do something more, which he did.

Paranoidd 11-03-2004 05:08 PM

I'm not disputing that.

NirVanaTiC3 11-03-2004 10:18 PM

I agree with Paranoidd, but I would like to say that without Cliff's interest in classical music and incorporating that into the band's music, it wouldn't have lasted.

Paranoidd 11-03-2004 10:47 PM

I agree with that as well.

Vampyre de Mort 11-04-2004 08:37 AM

Oh my god, people still buy this! Metallica's "growth" over the years just proves that people will buy into anything as long as it still seems cool. Just cause its Metallica people totally bought into the bllues-country thing they did in the 90's, weren't we about thrash? I'm sorry but you people are easily bought, might as well go out and buy a Garth Brooks cd.

Kickflip_Burrito 11-04-2004 09:27 AM

Shut up, Metallica in the 90's was still good, just not metal. It was different and they wanted to expand their musical accomplishments.

If they really cared about 'looking cool', then they wouldn't have sued Napster would they.

MetallicA 11-04-2004 09:00 PM

Actually heres what i think. Since i know alot about metallca il tell you guys. Metallica was formed by James and Lars. They wrote hit the lights together before Dave came in and before they had Ron. Hit the lights was pretty thrash right. If you actually buy Kill 'em All the only songs Dave even took part in were Horsemen, Jump in the Fire, Phantom Lord and Metal Militia. I think Metallica's sound is based on James's ideas. All that about James saying he's using Dave's ideas is bull.

I hear that brother, METALLICA RULES!

Paranoidd 11-04-2004 10:41 PM

Yes, they do rule. Especially their older work which was based on Dave's writing style. It's great.

hardkor 11-04-2004 10:42 PM

hardkor 11-04-2004 10:47 PM
does anyone know if metallica are coming to big day out in australia? or are all you guys american?
Didn't they just go there?

Riva 11-04-2004 11:24 PM

I don't think Metallica are coming to Big Day out next year.

And early Metallica was based on both James and Dave.
