I cant find the right post so, how many posts/rep points do you need for stars?

red n black 09-27-2005 02:01 PM

eY, PunkLoserKid, win the lottery.

And if you don't wanna do that, remember that it's 'punk' to be poor. So you're good.
Oh and I figured out a solution for my broken-recorder problems. COMPUTER.
The TAPE PLAYER of the recorder no longer works, and that's easily fixable, but takes money which I'm short on right now.

SO! I'm gonna take one of the computers downstairs and use the recorder as a mixer (as far as I know that part still works), and record straight onto the computer.

:D
Nice one, man. D'you reckon you could do that recording of 'Laid to Rest' for me then? I'd love you forever. :)

Drum Phil 09-27-2005 02:43 PM

Comfortably enough that i wont be in debt. Comfortably enough that i dont have money lying around for no reason

red n black 09-27-2005 02:51 PM

Would you go numb if you were to be too comfortably???

Cuz, then you would be comfortably numb. Hmmmm-....

technically, that would be numbfully comfortable. comfortably numb would be caused by being numb to begin with, and then being comfortable with it.

well i just watched the final 2 episodes of seinfeld. i've watched that show for years and never seen the first of the 2 final shows. man i love seinfeld.

well i didn't quit today, since 2 of my bandmates are at home sick, and the one that came to school is barely even in the band. so i'll wait and tell them all at the same time, so words don't get misunderstood.

Jomofo 09-27-2005 05:35 PM

It sucks you gotta quit.

My band is doing kind of poorly right now, too. It also just so happens that my bandmates are my best friends. No one seems commited enough to make the band work, but myself. It's sort of annoying to be sitting there and making an effort while everyone else screws around...even our song ideas don't get developed, because we track off so quickly. Things are not well. *sigh* I guess it's just how it goes.

Haha that'd be nice!

lewisniven 09-27-2005 05:42 PM

hmm, sounds like being a postman in the US is better than it is here. We get odd looking men who shoot strange glances at you, like they know something we dont. I think maybe they are wizards, like from harry potter, they hate us muggles i swear. the postman scares me.

Jomofo 09-27-2005 05:45 PM

I am wanting to cut a hole in my bass reso, probably a 3.5 as i don't want to lose alot of the boomyness. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to cut it with making it sloppy, or wrecking the skin? It doesn't seem too hard, I just wanted to get some ideas.

Win A Rabbit 09-27-2005 05:45 PM

today i helped one of my friends make a movie we've been working on, about depression. i'm supposed to be depressed, and everything bad happens to me. i've already got a basketball to the face, and today we got a whole class (36 kids) to line up and throw volleyballs at me as i walked by. a few of those little kids got me right in the head. then after that, i got a textbook tossed into my head, along with a water bottle thrown quite hard at my head. it's some great footage though.

Why? I mean seriously, there is no benefit.

Jomofo 09-27-2005 05:50 PM

Haha, I love communications classes.

I think what's going to end up happening is my telling them that they either clean up their acts, or I quit. It would be alot harder for them to find a new drummer then it would be for me to find a new guitar player, bass player, and vocalist.

We had all summer to practice and stuff, and did quite a few times, and came up with stuff, but it never got remembered, even when I said "WRITE IT DOWN RIGHT NOW!" and ran and got them pens and paper. I really need to learn to play guitar and stuff....then I can contribute, and if worst comes to worst, write all the **** songs myself.

poppinfresh 09-27-2005 05:57 PM

Im selling my movie Knights ov san franscico at school. I made ten bucks so far. 5 bucks each. Im thinking of lowering it to 4 since sales have been going so well.

gastery6 09-27-2005 05:57 PM

Thats the same situation i'm in sort of. Our gutair player can't really make anything up and stuff. The bass player is good and I can add stuff on to what they write. Theres no point in writing in the drums first.

spike9908 09-27-2005 06:02 PM

thats one of the things that makes forming a band hard. you have to find dedicated people who can write and remember a lot of stuff, can be flexible with ideas, and dont have a huge ego. thats the problem with a lot of people where i live. their great players, but they have to be in the spotlight all the time. they refuse to lay back and go with the band

the one band i was in a while ago could write stuff, but the lead guitarist had to have everything his way. if he didnt like it, i wouldnt work.

theres a drummer who has amazing talent, but if you had him play a song with a simple beat with a band, he gets off beat and starts going into an all out solo.

a guitarist who thinks the only way a riff is good is if it is constant fast notes, no matter how horrible it sounds, if its fast, its good.

Jomofo 09-27-2005 06:18 PM
Why? I mean seriously, there is no benefit.
I thought it would make it a little more thump-like and a little less boom-like. I'm getting a PS3 for the batter (I had to ORDER one, if you can believe), but I thought I could get a little more thud.

Gastery- my guitar player is pretty much the same way. Hes been playing for several years, but is just way too lazy. It seems like he never practices, or even attempts to make his own ideas for songs. Everything is kind of spur of the moment...it'd be nice to come to a practice and be able to just have some stuff we can jam on right away...rather than just plucking strings for a few hours.

Spike - I totally agree (with your opinion on band mates). There are some pretty good players here, but I don't seem to share their tastes in music. I don't really want to end up playing music that I hate.

Double Bass Jim 09-27-2005 06:20 PM

Well tommorows the drum off... First guy up 7pm

Im gonna go put a little shred time in, I put alot of effort into this years routine hopefully it turns out decent.

Drum Phil 09-27-2005 06:22 PM

Jim, any chance of taking a video camera? It'd be cool to see your routine

Ethan. 09-27-2005 06:23 PM

Good luck.

Jomofo 09-27-2005 06:25 PM

Good luck to ya, Jim. I hope no screw ups (on their part, or [i guess] yours) happen this year. I remember the pictures with you looking rather upset...lets hope you enjoy it this time!

Jezen 09-27-2005 06:36 PM

Im hittin the hay. Night ya'll.

spike9908 09-27-2005 06:38 PM

have fun tomorrow jim. video would be nice if you can get it, just remember to tell us how it goes.

poppinfresh 09-27-2005 06:47 PM

i would love to see a video jim. Good luck maybe youll win a scion and drum sticks,

spike9908 09-27-2005 06:50 PM

isnt the scion the grand prize. by that point he would have won over 100 pairs of sticks (i think you get something like 15-20 pairs per round won). you would also get to look foward to a 1 year evans and sabian endorsement.

Loyton 09-27-2005 06:51 PM
