The first one is a little weak, the other two are manageable.
The first one's probably my favorite, but it's the one that I did the worst job with. I ****ed up so many times on it, it couldn't be saved.

AIRIC 10-09-2007 01:27 PM

I like it and one of my favorite D,O songs.

plebeian scum 10-09-2007 09:46 PM

the first patch is cool.

I made a belt out of an old inner tube the other day. It works and looks cool, but could be improved upon. Basically sewed the tube to a clip from a lanyard.

I also brought in the inseam on my carhartts. Greatest pants ever but they're too baggy.

asdf 10-09-2007 10:11 PM

Now I'm wishing my innertube was not thrown out.

I'm sure this has been mentioned before, but whats a good way to make some patches? My few attempts have been less than spectacular...

Also making t-shirt designs with more than a magic marker.

POINTLESS5448 10-15-2007 10:20 PM

I haven't been posting for a while because I have been busy with school and whatnot, but i have a lot of things that I have done. Expect a huge picture post soon.

Finished my halloween costume tonight.

Pretty shoddy, but I wasn't really planning on dressing up beforehand, so it's not too bad I suppose.

I'm going as a picture of a giraffe.

I kind of wish I would have done a background, and am thinking about putting something in the blank space off to the side there, looks a little blank.

What do you guys think? Cost me nothing, and only took a little while. Not the best obviously, but I just have to wear it at work for a couple hours.

asdf 10-25-2007 03:42 PM

I like it. It's not the usual costume. But I definitely think it needs some scenery.
I don't really know if this fits in with the thread, but I made a few patches for my jacket:

Agreed. Saturday night is when I'm wearing it, so if I've got nothing to do tomorrow I'll attempt putting in some scenery before work.

DemonicRubberDucky 10-26-2007 07:54 PM

Zine cover. Anyone like?

http://i23.tinypic.com/2lcvdll.jpg

Flagjacket 10-26-2007 09:05 PM

i can't front that might be the stupidest thing I've ever seen or read.

Liebensaft 10-27-2007 01:49 PM

Kevin can't front.

AIRIC 10-28-2007 10:36 AM

Best post ever.

DemonicRubberDucky 10-28-2007 04:56 PM

First off, I am an anarcho-punk. Secondly, simply put, i personally believe in the philosophies of Christ, but i don't believe that anyone should be confined to any religion, and i'm fu(king sick of how today the American gov't ignores the idea of religious freedom at every turn, especially now that gays are starting to make a stand, and America is constantly trying to put them down. Why? Because of religion. And it may be my religion, and i'll admit that i feel pretty fu(king guilty.

"Christian" does not mean "fundamentalist as$hole christian".

SkaRobotArmy 10-28-2007 06:21 PM

i kinda laughed at the title. but the artwork is pretty clever if you could get somebody to draw it a little better.

thats pretty rad but yea, a little scenery would make it stand out a lot more.

i have this childrens tiger suit i wore last year and was too lazy to get something new so i just put a twist on it. im being tigerwoods, just wearing the tigersuit plus a nike hat and 9-iron. and golf shorts since i had to cut the crotch out of the costume for comfort reasons.

Edit: to the zine

My criticism would probably be the use of "insane ramblings." I had to check and make sure that's what it said because actually I thought you had written "incoherent ramblings," and this is better than that. However, "insane ramblings" is roughly something I would've titled a zine had I tried to write one in 7th grade. People don't want to read ramblings, they would rather read clear, concise writing. Espcially since yours sounds fairly political, you want to be able to state, and state clearly, what you are trying to say. "insane" doesn't help your argument, and "ramblings" doesn't entice readers.

And I'm done treating the DIY thread like english class. Have a nice day.

SkaRobotArmy 10-28-2007 07:14 PM

this is very true. probably why the title is somewhat difficult to take seriously.

I don't see an "s".
I don't see an "s".
Wow, you are correct. Dyslexia strikes again!

Still, I think the use of inane doesn't strengthen the title, and much of what I said applies to it, even if I read it wrong. Inane is a bit more mature than insane, though.

http://i23.tinypic.com/2lcvdll.jpg
I'd read it I think. Too bad I live in a crappy little town where any zine would be dead by day 2.

Converge#12 10-30-2007 08:35 AM
I actually put it in the oven. Microwaving never works for me.

Thanks for the idea. Might have to give it a try. :)

One way I was thinking was to heat up the army men before-hand to where they're almost melting, then throw them on the vinyl and heat them together. Army men melt to vinyl, vinyl gets loose enough without burning to press army men into it a bit further.

Sounds good in theory.

May have to try it this weekend when I'm off work.
Buy a torch lighter.
i kinda laughed at the title. but the artwork is pretty clever if you could get somebody to draw it a little better.
I kinda tried to get that frank, somewhat jokingly funny title feel going. It's hard to get someone to laugh at a title but still take it seriously. But it is a serious zine though, i've written a review, drawn some good stuff, and wrote a small article about misantrophy.

Yeah, that cover's sorta a rough, now that you mention it. I'm gonna keep at it till i get it right. First, i gotta learn, once and for all, how to draw hands. They've given me trouble over the years, especially when i wanna take my drawings seriously.

asdf 10-30-2007 07:07 PM

At my college there is a coffee shop close by that has this great zine library. I've been reading them a lot, so it's making me kind of critical of them. Some of them really inspire me to write one, though.

But do I really need to do one more DIY thing? I mean... really.

DemonicRubberDucky 11-05-2007 04:56 PM

Holy ****, absolutely no one is posting. Anyways, patch dude who made the Op Ivy pathes, i dunno if you caught this or have just not been here, but i posted this a whole ago...

My friends and I jumped on a passing train last night. Took about 4 hours to walk back.

Flagjacket 11-10-2007 03:44 PM

this is a DIY thread not a poor decision thread.

Danger Bird 11-10-2007 04:07 PM

DIY independent transportation my friend.
