i tried helping a friend with his dinosaur computer that could run Winamp 3 at most to i dled it to see wtf he was doin and after I got rid of it winamp wont do stuff normally (I saved winamp 3 in a different program folder and did this that an blah blah blah) and i'm too lazy to install it again

Winamp 2.95 is where it's at. Very low resource usage, can scrobble with the old plugin, can play music, has playlists.
It doesn't have a library, but I just have my entire collection (~7500 songs) in the playlist and it doesn't have any trouble.

No, that's the way to go. Supports tons of file types, fully customizable, and uses a really low amount of memory. Winamp is bloated with too much ****.

I don't think I was able to open more than one file at a time with winamp.

I've never had any problem with Winamp. Maybe it's the way I use it but the only times it really slowed down my system was when I accidentally added all 12,000+ songs in my library to my playlist at once.
