That little piece with the gap between the end of Atonement and Harlequin Forest.

Sorry to be off topic.. but, my word..
Opeth holds an imaginitive paradise in their music.
Unique and dissimilar to anything that's ever been produced.
Repeated spins of their albums only gives me more to listen to.
Subtle bits I've never focused on before...
You know?

Amazing.
Uh, isn't that mainly guitar? I'm assuming you mean he wrote it.

Haha, yeah, the nose shots in Lamentations are pretty gross. I'm not really sure if that's a bogey or just his weird gross nose.
Surely you can have this arguement after the next album? Not really getting anywhere... Not heard enough of Per to comment.
He adds to old songs during live shows.

Mikael has big nostrils. i bet you can fit those big marbles in there. My only complaint about the lamentations DVD is that i wish there was backstage stuff, or stuff they do on their bus.
The documentary of damnation and deliverance was pretty good. Except that it coulda used scenes

How does that relate to what I said at all?

I was wondering that before :p

NP Closure Live ... Get a glimpse of how they sound live

Kaiwaz 02-27-2006 05:48 PM
Yup.

(although I think Silhouette is kind of lame myself, I think he can do better than that)

Epilogue is fantastic too, I just remembered.
Definitely. Epilogue is easily one of my favorite Intrumentals ever. I like it when the twin leads come in at the end, it's such a great mesh of beauty.

Can someone please send me Still Day Beneath the Sun?

My e-mail is Crazynessdude3@aol.com.

Thanks!

Shattered_Future 02-27-2006 06:53 PM

Closure live was quite awesome. Per had a sweet keyboard solo (though you couldn't really hear it...he was mixed mad low), and Mike had a 12 string PRS he played the whole song on.

Shattered_Future 02-27-2006 07:02 PM

www.yousendit.com

Click select file to upload, choose file, click upload, wait, and you'll get a link later.

Crysiss 02-27-2006 07:05 PM

Also, you shouldn't upload the link directly to a thread. thats illegal. Just to warn you.

EDIT: Put back my email in case you forget nightrise713@gmail.com

Stormrider 02-27-2006 07:13 PM

Did you get it ?

And Tojes, you should have it realy soon.

TojesDolan 02-27-2006 07:18 PM

Yep, it's in my inbox. :)

Sent it already or are you doing it mail by mail?

You can copy the link and send a multiple destiny mail with your e-mail account.

Stormrider 02-27-2006 07:22 PM

I was doing it mail by mail. I had already sent it to aphotic when you asked, so there was no need of using my email acount to send it.

Yousendit keeps asking for my user name...?

Crysiss 02-27-2006 07:52 PM

Thanks man, appreciate it

Use the remember me function, I suppose?

OR you can send it to yourself and then make a single e-mail with all the requests and the link to the song.

Stormrider 02-27-2006 10:51 PM

No no, I didnt mean itkeeps asking me everytime I send. I didn't need a username....what I'm wonder is a username for what ?

Darkness 02-27-2006 10:53 PM

You don't need it, they just push for you to become a member and pay for an account there. Just skip it.

Stormrider 02-27-2006 10:56 PM

Ah ok. Thats what I did, skipped it.

On an Opeth related note, I started learning Advent.
On an Opeth related note, I started learning Advent.
^Nice man.
I need my copies of Orchid and Morningrise back, badly. ;\

I'm trying to learn The Leper Affinity on my acoustic guit('tis all I have).
Some parts just seem too damn hard to figure out with all the guitar layering, let alone play. heh.
Ah well.. The riffs still sound great on the acoustic so I'm happy.

Slapping Penguin 02-28-2006 05:18 AM

Closure sounds so awesome on the Lamentations DVD.

Mikael said he listened to alot of Tool around the time of GR. I think GR has alot of Tool influence anyone?

Werny 02-28-2006 05:59 AM

I hear Tool in Atonement, it reminds me of Disposition. Other than that, I don't really hear any Tool in GR.

Stormrider 02-28-2006 07:25 AM

I don't need Orchid back, I need Orchid period :p

I'm going to the store later, or I should be, so unless I see something else of interest, there is a chance my money will go into Orchid.

I hear it in some of the song structures and the overall "progressive" feel of it, as well as in Lopez's playing.

TojesDolan 02-28-2006 12:29 PM

Progressive? eh... It feels different. Just like any other Opeth.

On a related note, they are going to be touring in a city near me in September OMFG I'm gonna die. :D:D:D

I'll save money and all that jazz. Screw University.

Stormrider 02-28-2006 12:32 PM

I don't understand how they're not coming to Montreal...

i am the robots 02-28-2006 12:43 PM

Or Philly and Trenton... I mean... two of the biggest places for shows on the east coast....

evolution 02-28-2006 12:58 PM

I just heard today that they're playing a show here. I've heard of them before but never heard any material...after reading this thread though it's got me up for the night in a big way.
The other day i got a forwarded e-mail where you type in some info about what kinda music you like and it would pop out a band name for you. After I put everything in it said that my band should be named Opeth, and today this thread is here to get me all revved up.....coincidence? I think not.

Jude 02-28-2006 12:59 PM
Or Philly and Trenton... I mean... two of the biggest places for shows on the east coast....
It's cause they hit Philly on the fall tour. They try to go to different places.

Stormrider 02-28-2006 01:06 PM

Maybe it's that. They came here last October...

I don't think Ghost Reveries sounds even remotely close to anything Tool has recorded, no.

Usually for any bands, the touring companies try and hit different places for each leg. Example: They hit Philly on the first NA leg, they go to Pittsburg on the second. NIN hit Philly on the first With Teeth Tour NA leg, now they're going to Erie and they're coming to Atlantic City (which I can't go to because it sold out in 8 damn minutes)

I wouldn't go that far...I don't like Ghost Reveries all that much, but it's still a solid album.

I really do enjoy all of Tools albums more then GR, even though it is still a decent album.
