There's this pretty amazing electronic/post-rock artist from Japan who's been left in the dirt, in terms of recognition. And besides making amazing music, he has a Doctor of Science degree and works as a researcher in biotechnology. Like, this guy's a fucking boss! I had to upload the track myself, but whatever. Cinq -
http://youtu.be/nNy0Bi8iW6w
this is pretty good. been listening to Gridlock's Formless quite a bit, you heard it? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G1EvclXK57k IDM with vaguely industralized beats |

this ain't a bad comp. most of the Inner-X-Musick artists are quality |
http://www.discogs.com/Various-Funky-Alternatives-1/release/55090
http://www.discogs.com/Various-Funky-Alternatives-2/release/55088 these are superb highly recommended kitsch if you liked In The Beginning There Was Rhythm |
I haven't heard of Gridlock, but I'm listening to him now.
Btw, toe's drummer did all the drumming for that entire album, Day Off (Cinq). It's an interesting album to check out, especially since toe's drummer is among the best out there. |
Gridlock is pretty amazing, Haz. I like the juxtaposition between the ambience and rough sounding/industrialized beats.
|
yeah that album is really tight. reminds me a bit of some of my favourite Autechre tracks
|
adding all these to my "to check out list"
im currently too busy obsessing over the discography of a local label, auris apothecary. they recently reduced prices on downloads on (most) of their out of print material to either free or 2 dollars when you use the coupon code "3rdanniversary" without the quotes. they've got some amazing releases guys, all over the spectrum of this thread title, plus metal and punk. http://aurisapothecary.bandcamp.com/ |
some of these tape titles, lol
|
i know it can get pretty pretentious
this one is hyper rediculous, but the music is one of the most interesting things ive heard in months http://aurisapothecary.bandcamp.com/album/aax-062-en-wallmoburen-myhr-d-r-d-n-gr-dha-mellom-bitter-root-ok-frucht stream it, if you like it, its only $2.10 for the album. |
i dont understand the point of obscure tapes when Nicki Minaj and Tyga are using industrial beats and occult themes these days
theres like no need for indie culture anymore |
name a time when popular culture wasnt ripping off more palatable versions of indie culture
|
oh yeah come to think of it
|
depeche mode binge
|
alpha as fuck

Depeche Mode is probably the wussiest, least edgy band on the planet
i like some of their songs tho |
trying to think what the least edgiest band on the planet is
|
the dave mathews band
|
um dude they dumped a septic tank full of shit all over a bunch of old people on a cruise ship once

Women Take Back The Noise comp is good

Industrial/Electronic/Ambient/Neofolk/Power Electronics Related G
Interesting list man. Not my kind of electronica, I found a lot of it... very somber and very... static, if that makes sense?
I did like the last track however, and a lot of songs had their moments. |

alex: http://www.stumbleupon.com/su/2qd5bc/8tracks.com/docellis/classical-dubstep/
I've seen the Winnipeg Symphony Orch play a turntablist set with live drum kits and synths. It was actually good, by Nicole Lizee here's some stuff from her it's mad good http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_wp1Fcc0-CU |

I always expected one of the most extreme examples of underground music to be like a bunch of dudes who want to go back to an agrarian culture of sharing idk it appears some of these dudes are making a small fortune the way they release stuff in limited copies and everybody scrambles over the top of each other to get it, plus t-shirts and hats and lunchboxes and Dominick Fernow cockrings |
