"Immortal was great... ...last year" << that is impossible, it's not 1992

Iron Bars 03-08-2008 06:30 AM

Then I was clearly drunk.

A good live show doesn't need to take place in a band's musical prime.

pate 03-08-2008 09:41 AM

In elitist jackoff land it does.

RetiredAt21 03-08-2008 10:45 AM

I never liked Immortal.

combustion07 03-08-2008 11:08 AM

Immortal is my favorite black metal band as of right now. Anybody like Forest?

Stormrider 03-08-2008 11:24 AM

Like a Blaze Above the Ashes is good and the best Forest I've heard.

RetiredAt21 03-08-2008 01:00 PM

I don't think I've ever heard Forest, but I'm not sure.

Stormrider 03-08-2008 01:04 PM

I feel more like a whole now that I know that.

AA-12 03-08-2008 01:27 PM

You guys hate on Justin too much

RiceMonster 03-08-2008 02:33 PM

Forest is pretty sweet. Blaze Birth Hall shouldn't have bothered doing multiple projects though, there's no difference between any of them.

FatalEnergy 03-08-2008 03:10 PM

Immortal is still great. Can't wait for the new album.

The only Forest I've heard of is the folk band from the 70s

Jondur 03-08-2008 03:31 PM
Immortal was great live at Wacken last year, or I was to drunk to care.
Immortal are probably the most amusing live band I've seen. Good time stadium rock stylings to black metal. Pyro and crowd participation - Euronymous will be spinning in his grave

Angmar 03-08-2008 04:12 PM

The Forest album I got was pretty mediocre minus the decent vocals. I strongly preferred the Walknut album that the guy from Forest was involved in.

DERSIEGDERKRIEGDERKAMPF 03-08-2008 04:23 PM

Although I have not listened to Forest in a long time, Like a Blaze Above the Ashes left a big impression on me back then mainly due to the way it was produced and the riffing.

Eliminator 03-08-2008 04:24 PM

deciduous blasphemy!!

Stormrider 03-08-2008 04:47 PM

Do you remember which album you had Angmar?
Although I have not listened to Forest in a long time, Like a Blaze Above the Ashes left a big impression on me back then mainly due to the way it was produced and the riffing.
Yeah, I like the production on that abum a lot.

Not a band I listen to often, though.

DERSIEGDERKRIEGDERKAMPF 03-08-2008 04:49 PM

I still don't know if it is some sort of chanting I suppose in the background on that album or just a combination of delay/reverb effects.

You don't even know 'bout that shit, son.

Foredooming the Hope for Eternity, the riffs didn't strike me as anything special and I remember the drums sounded horrible.

Silenius 03-08-2008 08:48 PM

Yeah, a lot of BBH does sound similar since it's comprised of the same few guys for every band. I remember Branikald, Forest and Ravendark being the best from that group, never got into their clean vocals though.

Stormrider 03-08-2008 10:43 PM

I didn't like Ravendark :-/
Foredooming the Hope for Eternity, the riffs didn't strike me as anything special and I remember the drums sounded horrible.
Like a Blaze Above the Ashes really the only Forest I've heard that I still listen to. Foredooming the Hope for Eternity has a real nice cover art, though.

Angmar 03-08-2008 11:11 PM

Yeah it does haha, that's probably the only reason I chose it over the others. Since opinions/reviews were kinda limited.

RiceMonster 03-09-2008 02:57 AM
Yeah, a lot of BBH does sound similar since it's comprised of the same few guys for every band.
It's not just that. Everything sounds the same to me. They're all exactly the same. The same group of people can make music that sounds different.

Foredooming the Hope for Eternity is a funny title because 'fördom' means 'prejudice' in Swedish. And Forest is an NS band lol

But are they something I would like? I like raw, up to a point. It depends, idk it's weird

It's 'fördöma' and I would translate it as condemn. 'Fördom', on the other hand, is prejudice. 'Fördomar' in the plural.

1338 h4x0r 03-09-2008 05:21 AM

My bad, thanks Björn

The humor still holds (a little)

Tyr 03-09-2008 05:27 AM

It definitely does.

Well the most prominent of the BBH (Forest & Branikald) are basically the same - two solo projects by the same (now dead) guy. If you like BBH, that raw kind of atmospheric NSBM, have a look into Heidentum (Ger) as well. Absolute killer.
