Madonna makes good music, it's not my fault if she's also a gay icon, is it.

Thunder Fingers 05-10-2005 01:34 PM
Shut up. Seriously, Maiden should never Quit. They are one of the best bands ever, and no one who has made a proper, educated, formulated judgmentthat of all things music can disagree with.

Maiden shouldn't, and won't ever quit.
.....IM sucks.

Has anyone noticed the increase in anger lately?

So, anyone heard the BLAZE version of Two worlds collide? It's pretty good, the guitars are a lot louder.

Powerman 5000?

YDload 05-10-2005 05:24 PM

I dunno, Bruce always looked really short to me. But no singer in metal will ever come close to the tininess of Mr. Ronnie James Dio.

I haven't heard all that much Blaze stuff, though what I have heard is pretty good.

MegaPhony 05-10-2005 07:05 PM

Just borrowed a few Maiden CD's off my friend (4 or 5 I think) like 3 weeks ago.
Suffice to say, my Iron Maiden favorite song list has expanded tenfold.
Quite possibly in my top favorite three bands.
I don't post much in R&M but I felt obliged to post in the Official Maiden thread.
;)

Deth 05-10-2005 07:07 PM

Stay around a while, everyones cool here.

May I inquire which albums you borrowed?

paco999 05-10-2005 07:40 PM

I always liked Blaze's vocals. Although Bruce is the voice of Iron Maiden that's why Virtual XI and the X Factor weren't so popular.

However I liked Virtual XI alot it has alot of nice songs (Futureal, Lightning strikes Twice, the Clansman, The Educated Fool, Don't look into the Eyes of a Stranger, and Como estais Amigos), I haven't really read a positive comment on this album, so that's why I think its underrated, I actually really liked it IMO.

GurS 05-11-2005 12:32 AM

i don't have it (the only whole in my studio collection), but futureal and angel and the gambler suck. the clansman is good, but 1 out of 3 ain't good enough.

the_uber_penguin 05-11-2005 03:47 AM

I've always felt Bruce makes Blazes vocals sound really weak (compare the RiR version of The Clansman to the album version). I guess that whole 1994-1999 era for Maiden will always feel like dark days for Maiden in my mind, because I'm mostly a Bruce and Adrian fan.

Granted, Dave, Steve and Nicko are all amazing, it's not what i listen for in the band (except now Dave...he's grown on me)
Meh it had a good setlist but the mastering on it sucked, Well atleast on my dvd. I prefare my copy of Rock AM Ring which a relative recorded onto DVD from german tv. Better list, full concert unlike Rock in Rio which had cut bits and it has a prolonged Bring Your Daughter (To The Slaughter) where Bruce has some sorta screaming compotition with the crowd.
Yeah, I've got Rock AM Ring. It's awesome but I agree about the mastering. By the way, Bruce holds that note for 33 seconds. I timed it haha. And it's not just 33 seconds. It's 33 good seconds and he finishes it off with a nice bit of vibrato. I've always though of Bruce Dickinson as the best singer ever besides Freddie Mercury, but now I'm starting to think he might even be better. I'll have to listen to more Queen to compare them.
A girl in the year below me I'm friends with walked past me and held up a piece of paper with his autograph on it.

I was like "Wha'!!! You're not even that much into Maiden!"
Her: "Nah...not really"
Me: "How did you get it"
Her: "He was at the London Guitar show"

Apparently he's really short...5'2" or something, like that.
That's cool, cause I'm 17 year old male but I'm really short - like 5 foot 2 or 3 and I don't think I'm going to grow much more. Is Dickinson really that short? He looks taller onstage. Meanwhile, I seriously wouldn't be surprised if old Dio was 5'2.

amateurbassist 05-11-2005 04:39 AM

www.anime-forums.com.....

amateurbassist 05-11-2005 05:17 AM

neither do i ... but i just think its wrong taking the p i s s out of a brilliant guitarist.....

the_uber_penguin 05-11-2005 06:33 AM

To revive the whole mastering debate...(no puns should be made lest Eddie rapes you in your sleep)...the RiR DVD isn't brilliantly mastered, but the CD is much better. Lots of crowd noise sounds awesome.

amateurbassist 05-11-2005 06:59 AM

hey does anyone know if theres a kive recording of childhoods end? cos its in my head at the mo......

Thunder Fingers 05-11-2005 07:00 AM

its one of the songs that never have been played live if i recall correctly...
